Has anyone considered HPD Qi Rong??? Been looking at the symptoms for HPD and they line up pretty well

Rapidly shifting and shallow emotions - Self explanatory

Dramatic and extremely emotionally expressive, even to the point of embarrassing friends and family in public - Also self explanatory

Have a “larger than life” presence - I'd argue Qi Rong is extremely noticeable in any room he's in, for better or for worse

Physical appearance draws attention to themselves (bright-colored clothing or revealing clothing) - Qi Rong is mostly portrayed with bright green clothes that are worn improperly, so I'd argue this is accurate

Acts inappropriately sexual with most of the people they meet, even when they’re not sexually attracted to them - This one reminds me of when Qi Rong "flirted" with the wind master in the books, but can also refer to his weird sexual jokes in general

Speaks dramatically and expresses strong opinions but with few facts or details to support their opinions - Just most Qi Rong dialogue in general

Is gullible and easily influenced by others, especially by the people they admire - The whole Jun Wu thing, but this can also refer to Qi Rong's younger years with Xie Lian

The disorder's also typically caused by childhood trauma (child abuse or the loss of a parent, of which Qi Rong has suffered through both) and/or children whose guardians use parenting styles that lack boundaries, are over-indulgent, or inconsistent, which aligns a lot with how Qi Rong is treated by his new guardians after his mom's death. This is just a thing I thought abt in the shower bc I was bored but I honestly think HPD Qi Rong explains a lot

having some #tgcf thoughts tonight, suddenly, more specifically about Qi Rong and Guzi ☺️

I think Guzi's favourite plush toy should be a possum 👀 and it's Guzi's absolute favourite plushy ever.

Qi Rong didn't really understand why, truthfully the thing was pretty cheap compared to all the other animals since it was on a big sale and he figured Guzi would probably enjoy a plushy since he doesn't have any. Hell, it's not even particularly cute either.

But Guzi is utterly in love with his little possum friend, so who is he to actually complain?

Little does he know that Guzi holds it dear to himself because this is the first thing Qi Rong gifted him not as a necessity like clothes, but to gift him something (on his birthday too!!).

Some day Guzi insist on taking his little friend around the stores with them, despite Qi Rong telling him this is a risk of losing him. But no reasoning will get him to leave it at home so Qi Rong just keeps an eye out to make sure Guzi doesn't forget it somewhere.

And the one time it happens it's like a floodgate was open and Guzi is utterly inconsolable. They are on a trip with his cousin and his annoying husband (something to try and mend their relationship he bets, he would have refused if Guzi had not looked so excited about it all).

Xie Lian looks absolutely guilty and nearly distraught even at how he didn't pay enough attention to it while he was looking after Guzi, unable to make him stop crying.

No amount of them searching can find back xiao huī. But Qi Rong just tells them to go get dinner before him, he'll keep looking. He really wants to get mad at his cousin for not paying enough attention, but doing so wouldn't magically bring back the stuffed animal.

The couple lose more and more hope as times goes by, feeling like maybe someone picked it up and kept the toy. Hua Cheng even tries to tell Guzi he could find him a new one, but the poor child doesn't want any of it, only his precious little soft friend.

Even the poor child looks like there no hope of finding his stuffed animal anymore, barely touching his plate.

That is, until Qi Rong comes to join them, something familiar tucked under his arm. Guzi is immediately running up to him, relieved and utter joy filling his face when he sees xiao huī in his father's arms. "xiao huī decided to go on a little adventure of his own, but he still made his way back home" he says, not mentioning how he nearly got into a fight with some thug who had picked it up and wouldn't give it back.

Guzi decided that it was better to let his little friend in their room for what was left of their trip.

xiao huī is also the reason Qi Rong learned to sew decently enough to do more than just sew back on a fallen button or fix up a hole or ripe.

the little possum is being loved quite a lot, but this also means it wears it down at times.

but that is not something Qi Rong cannot fight against. Internet is his best friend, especially about how to clean up stuffed animal.

Some of his repairs are noticeable, but this seems to only make xiao huī even more lovable for Guzi. "He's unique and baba is the one who took great care of him" he giggled once when Qi Rong asked about it.

xiao huī is also a great indicator of either or not Guzi trust you, as he will never leave his stuffed animal with anyone he doesn't know or trust.

more often than not, if he has to entrust his possum to someone, it will be Qi Rong. The man does have to admit he feels smug when someone offers to hold onto the plushy, only for Guzi to outright refuse and hand it over to his baba instead.

he would also sometimes find himself waking up to the stuffed animal laying by his side. It always happens when he falls ill. he does his best not to force Guzi to take care of him, but it seems impossible with how eager the little boy is to help out his baba.

"xiao huī will keep you safe while you sleep and he'll make your cold go away" Guzi had whispered once as he had placed the stuffed toy next to his sick and exhausted dad. Qi Rong had refuse he sleeps with him, in fear of the kid catching what he had.

he would never say it aloud, but it did warm his heart.

Sure enough, the next morning he already felt better. He makes sure to sanitize the little possum before handing it back to Guzi, assuring him his little friend did it job very well.

Even as Guzi eventually grows out of toys and stuffed animal as he gets into his teenage years, as he gives away or sells the unused toys, Qi Rong keeps xiao huī in his own room.

and when down the line, as Guzi helps his baba move out from the little studio he had managed to find a couple of years back (to change form the shitty apartment when he took Guzi in), he does stumble onto little xiao huī.

He feels warm and happy.

For all the time he had heard Qi Rong curse under his breath about it being in the way again, cursed as he fixed it up or looked annoyed when it got lost somewhere in the house again.

He had still kept it and taken care of it.

Guzi is tempted to bring xiao huī back home with him, after all he still loves his childhood friend.

But he thinks his little friend should continue its mission of looking over baba.
