Anthony was nine years old when he learned to keep his eyes on the ground in front of him.

He was looking at the backs of his father’s knees, at the soft white backs of the sheep as they followed the narrow track up the slope of the hillside. He was tired, and he was hot, and his legs were hurting from climbing, but he was supposed to be learning. He was supposed to watch his father and the sheep and the dogs, because he was going to be a shepherd, too, one day.

The wind picked up and blew through Anthony’s hair, cooling the sweat on his skin. A shadow shifted over the ground and that was when Anthony looked up. It was just for a moment, just to watch the clouds race through the sky and hide the sun, but a moment was enough.

Anthony was looking at the clouds, and then he wasn’t. Something warm and fuzzy brushed against his legs and he was falling backwards, the slope of the hill turning at a terrible angle, and then he saw nothing at all.

The ‘Not’ in Astronaut

“Darling?” Asa asked, finally looking up from the paper.

“Dr. Ryland Grace?”

“Yes,” Asa said. He checked the page again and nodded. “Why? Do you know him?”

“Yeah, I bloody know him.” The eggs were crackling in the pan, overcooked, and Anthony hit the button on the hob before slumping back against the refrigerator. “He’s a disgraced molecular biologist. And a coward. And a bit of a prat.”

“He’s going on a one-way trip to save the world,” Asa pointed out slowly. “I feel that makes him rather the opposite of a coward.”

“Sure, sure,” Anthony said. He tilted his head back. It collided with the refrigerator door with a thunk. “He can’t break up with his boyfriend properly, but he can get on an experimental spaceship on a last-ditch mission to stop the sun burning out.”

Asa made a sort of squeaking noise.

“Sorry,” Asa said, “his boyfriend?”

WELCOME TO THE END TIMES GOOD OMENS 3 FANWORKS BINGO!

What is a fanworks bingo?

A fanworks bingo is a low-stakes event focused on creating fanworks related to (in this case) Good Omens 3! We want to spread positivity and encourage creation, regardless of personal feelings on the finale. Loved the finale and want to explore it further? This is the place for you. Hated it, but still want to make some fanworks about it? Maybe there's a tiny bit you loved, but haven't seen explored? Feel free to!

How does this work exactly?

First of all, to participate, you need a bingo card! To request one, fill out THE FORM HERE.

Once you've filled out the form, you will receive a bingo card! That bingo card is what will be with you for the rest of the event.

Each week, one of the prompts will be called out on this blog - that's your call to check, is that prompt on your bingo card? If so, time to make whatever fanworks you like! 

You will have a week before another prompt is called, though you're welcome to make fanworks even for old prompt calls. Keep going until you get a bingo - or go for a full blackout! This is not a competition - there are no prizes to win, no enemies to defeat. Think of it more like a prompt list to inspire you and kick your arse into action. Got a full bingo? Great! Tell your friends, get a gold star, let's celebrate your creative prowess together!

We'll be sharing all fanworks tagged with #gos3bingo or this blog’s name @gos3bingo. There is also an AO3 collection to gather all fanworks posted to AO3 - you can see it here.

What kind of fanworks are accepted?

Any of them! You can make visual art (digital, traditional, whatever); fanfic; songs; video edits; playlists; truly, anything at all. This is a low-stakes event - we do not require for your works to be directly related to Good Omens 3, though we definitely encourage it. The only "rule" we have is that posts related to the bingo should not antagonize other fans or be overly negative. Criticism is fine; vicious negativity is not. Any negativity on the event posts means we will NOT be sharing that post to our social media. We will not be policing anyone's entire tumblr account or other posts; we are only interested in the posts tagged with our account or event tags.

As previously stated, your works do not have to explicitly relate to Good Omens 3 either - want to create a human AU with Aziraphale and Crowley, not Asa and Anthony? That's fine. We understand inspiration can run in all directions and while we encourage creating Good Omens 3 related works, we do not exclude other kinds. The prompts itself are inspired by the finale and that in itself is enough.

What is the schedule?

After that, prompt calls will happen every WEDNESDAY

No set end date – we will keep going as long as we have prompts and eventually will rotate through the list from the beginning. If we decide to stop or pause the event, we’ll let you know!

What kind of prompts will be on the bingo cards?

Some examples of prompts include:

Finger kiss / Holding hands

And many others. Some of the prompt calls will include TWO prompts (such as Slorch / Secret Torments) – in that case, it’s up to you to decide which one you want to focus on or if you want to somehow combine both.

Can I request multiple bingo cards?

We would encourage you not to, but we will not stop you from doing so. Keep in mind that cards are generated and sent out manually, so we’ll be prioritizing sending them out to people who have not yet received any.

How long will it take for me to receive a bingo card?

A few hours up to a few days, depending on mod availability. We don’t want to keep you waiting too long, so we aim to send them out within the first 24 hours from receiving the request. 

There are too many events!

We have no exclusivity rules. That means you are welcome to combine our prompts with any other events you're participating in - prompt lists, bangs, zines, whatever - and feed two ducks with one pea. That being said, make sure to check that the other event you are participating in also allows this as we cannot guarantee that they do.

But I hated Good Omens 3 and don't want to see works related to it!

You are welcome to block this Tumblr and the #gos3bingo tag. We are not trying to police how anyone feels about the finale or the rest of the series - we are merely hoping to provide a space for people to explore and enjoy it, whether in its entirety or just select parts.

I’m going to try not to wade too far into Discourse here, because I want my blog to be a mostly positive and safe space!

But my basic thinking about GO3 after reflecting on it for the past six weeks is that I do still wish we could have seen Aziraphale and Crowley get a happy ending in their own universe (although with the way things were written, I understand why we didn’t) but also I am going to continue to find joy and whimsy and love in the story that was told. It doesn’t make me feel any better to dwell on the things I wish were different, and I also genuinely am having fun playing in the ambiguous-ending-sandbox.

I am also going to continue to find joy and whimsy and love in the stories that weren’t told, but could have been (AUs etc.) because that’s where the real beauty of fandom is to me. I love seeing art and reading fics and swapping headcanons and doing all of that with all of you.

I’m never really one for writing a lot of meta, so I won’t do that here, and I’ve also found a lot of the discourse around the ending to be really divisive and sometimes hateful. I don’t think there is one correct read or interpretation of the finale. I hope that one day soon we can reconnect and share the things we love about this story and these characters who mean so very much to us all.

I said this in an ask to someone who has a very different interpretation of the finale than me, but I’m going to say it here as well because it bears repeating:

Good Omens is always going to be about love, I think.

thank you for this!! I recently ventured into ellipsus to beta someone else’s fic and I did like it but I was also. confused. but then again I am a Newt-style luddite and I tend to break things when I first try to use them. I figure it out eventually though.

follow-up question for you: how does beta-ing work on ellipsus? I am 100000% sure I did not do it right a couple weeks back. is there a ‘share this thing with this person’ function that allows them to make comments and suggest edits?

And Crowley was secretly in love with him and always tried to keep his face normal during the act but was suffering a little. There was one scene where they did it on Crowley throne I believe
