Super Smash Bros: The Comeback Tournament

Hello and welcome.

For those that know me from another blog: you can skip this paragraph. For those who don't: Hi! My name is Hope (pronouns: she/her, age: 20), I'm a hobbyist artist/writer on Tumblr. I can be found on Hopeaterart (where I'm at most of the time, more info can be found in the pinned post there). If you see someone called Hopeaterstuff in your notes, that's me. Tumblr won't let me change my main unless I make a new account and I am not gonna do that.

This is a side-blog dedicated to my Smash Fanfic. I'm normally a firm believer in posting all of your bullshit on one blog, but I got over 200 notes in three days due to smash posting. I woke up the morning I decided to create this blog and the mobile app told me I had gotten over 58 notes. I can't live like this. Also, I don't want my Smash fic to inevitably be buried when I inevitably switch fixation, so... let's go!

Hey, sorry I haven't been around a lot! It's just that I'm currently talking about an original project on my main, and it's the first time one of these starts taking form for real, so I'm really excited about it. I don't know when I'll be done with the next chapter. So... the fic is officially going on hiatus until the next chapter is published.

Since Dharkon rescued Morka...might he be able to get through to her? Like, talk her down from all this?

Why did Ganondorf summon Morka in the first place?

Well, in the most recent chapter, Toon Link taunted Ganondorf about him being weak compared to most of the other fighters in the mansion (I am basing this on tier list). Ganondorf, being the King of Evil and very prideful (along with events in the fic that haven't happened yet), took this very personally, and summoned a demon for more power. That demon was Morka, who's much, much worse than him.

What did Morka look like before she turned into her current form?

I can't really make a drawing right now due to my phone camera acting up, but her home world was aquatic, so she was definitely a bit fish-like. She also didn't wear a mask, her eyes were normal, she only had one mouth, no eye or mouth on her chest, and her legs didn't fade into shadows.

Wait, why did Dharkon make Morka into…that? Was it an emergency transformation like in Super Paper Mario, or did he just feel like turning some random girl into a humanoid abomination?

Dharkon found Morka in the ruins of her world, and saved her before Galeem could find her. She lived with him for a while, but prolonged exposure to the Eldritch (think at least a few dozens year, the Smashers aren't in danger) is bound to make you a bit eldritch too.

Does Morka know any of the other Smash bosses (like Tabuu or Galeem)?

Morka's heard of Tabuu, yeah. Once Ganondorf physically summons her to Smash, she spends most of her time in Subspace planning and plotting stuff, so she at least knows he tried to do what she did once before.

Morka knows Galeem, yeah. Kind of hard not to when the Lord of Light destroyed her original world. She also knows Dharkon, due to him making her into what she is now.

I’ll be first to bite: What is Morka’s motivation for doing what she does?

Well, she definitely wants the world of Smash to collapse, that's for sure. I can't go into her reason of why she's doing this for spoiler reasons, unfortunately. All I can say on this front is that she's definitely going for a "end of the world" deal.

What I can say is why she's targeting the mansion: it sits in the middle of the Nintendo cluster and is connected to a multitude of other universes, including one that's connected to a whole other chunk of the multiverse. She believes that, if she makes the world of Smash collapse, it'll start off a whole chain reaction that will end with a good chunk of the multiverse destroyed.

So then what will Eggman’s classic mode boss be?

I... didn't think of that. Probably a literal Metal Sonic, or one of the more "force of nature" boss, as if it's one of the creatures Eggman summoned to get more power for himself.

Why was Neo Metal Sonic cut as a boss?

Because I was not able to find sources of an actual fight against Neo Metal Sonic, just Metal Madness, and I did not feel like coming up with an entire boss fight without any basis. Besides, I thought Pikmin could use a bit of representation.

WAIT. BOSSES (Updated)

I already mentioned it, but the Bosses in Smash are in the same dimension, some even living with the Fighters and Assist. Beside the Hands and the fighters who are also bosses (Giga Bowser and Ganon), we now have:

Rathalos, lives in the forest

Galleom, robot kept in the garage

Marx, lives in the Mansion, often mingles

Dracula, lives in the Mansion, usually keeps to himself

Porkey Minch, lives in the Mansion, still stuck in the Capsule

The Hollow Knight, lives in the Mansion, getting treatment to keep the Infection at bay

King Boo, lives in the Mansion, is being forced to assist with Administration in his down-time

DJ Octavio, lives in the Mansion, not allowed to throw parties

Plasm Wraith, lives in the Mansion's basement, occasionally pops up in the garden.

Super Dimentio, kept isolated as Dimentio and is empowered for the fights only.

When would you say was the point Smash (in-universe) turned from “fun little show to entertain a toddler” to “massive multiversal tournament”?

About mid-way through Melee, thanks to gambling spectators who made bets on the competition (in-universe equivalent of competitive players).

Crazy got overwhelmed by the sudden change and... kind of sabotaged the Brawl tournament a little bit so it wouldn't happen again? It was mainly to screw with the gamblers, who were a big problem during the later half of the Melee due to constantly sponsoring Fox over the fighters, screwing them over.

Master saw this, and waited until Crazy was an adult to throw the next Tournament since his brother's plan worked a little too well. They've agreed to try and find a balance between 'actual competition' and 'fun thing they do in the future', but that if they have to chose, Smash being fun takes priority over Smash being a competition.
