just my luck // adachi and komaeda
Adachi had been asked to patrol around the school, making sure students weren’t skipping class and that there weren’t any people suspicious lurking around. Well, he wasn’t asked. He volunteered. He needed something to do; he was already bored of this stupid job. It wasn’t like had many options, though. He knew that the police force back in Inaba wouldn’t have him, and everywhere else he applied for a job turned him down because of his background. Kerria was the only place that hired him.
He didn’t regret taking the job as much as he seemed to. It had nice pay, most of the staff weren’t very nosy, and the campus was gorgeous. He was so enraptured by the scenery that he didn’t notice that he had just bumped into a kid. He sure is doing such a great job making sure those kids are in class.
"Oh! Haha, sorry about that," he said, stepping back a bit. He looked at the white-haired boy for a second, realizing what he was supposed to be doing…but that could wait. He could stop and chat with the kid for a little bit without anyone minding, right?
Komaeda should have been in class; the campus was near empty with only the occasional adult running personal errands and he was but a student with no special exceptions of his own.
But he could pretend otherwise, effortlessly, with a smile that withheld all minor detours even as they collided with him head on.
"Oh, not at all! It was my fault." It's not true in the slightest, but accepting blame was easy enough if it made himself more likable. Besides, the misfortune that plagued him often threw him into scenarios of far more danger and risk, and so a simple bump into an officer was truly nothing to stress over.
--Supposedly. It was also partly bad luck that he'd been stopped by someone with the responsibility of seeing him to class, especially since it could have been avoided should he have been more cautious. Given how he originally wished to enter the teachers' dormitory, explaining his intentions are out of the question, so before he can be questioned of such the teen spoke first.
"You're not a professor here, are you? I don't recall seeing you around."
