soliser,
“cardia …” a whisper, one filled with awe and something softer. it was something she still couldn’t put her finger on, couldn’t properly understand but that was okay. now, they had time, more time for her to figure it out. to put a word to it. it wasn’t like before, where time was limited. not here. she was even more at awe at her master’s ( always, always her master ) actions, so willing to hold her hand, to not shy away from being touched.
“you’ve changed, so much.” a gentle squeeze of their joined hands was given, a copy that the ruler made. to think, that soft, meek master of hers would become this wonderful woman. would become a ruler of all classes. would be here, right by her side. she felt lucky for the first time in her life. “i’ve always wondered what i did to deserve you.” what she did to deserve this wonderful person who became her pack. without hesitation, she brought one of cardia’s hands to her lips and pressed a gentle kiss upon knuckles. just a soft one.
Her gaze softened at the display of Skoll’s expressions and her words. There was nothing better than basking in the presence of her beloved Servant from such a long time ago. How long had passed since their last meeting? Beckford could never tell. Her travels took her to different ages and to different worlds, it took her to witness what Gaia wanted her to witness to learn why the bearing of her heart meant to such, but she couldn’t say. Even Berserker couldn’t know what she was in reality. There was no promise to speak of her True Name now. She couldn’t, until the very end.
“It’s been too long, Skoll, all too long,” a whisper followed from the Ruler as she watched the other press a kiss to knuckles. It made something inside her chest light up once again, sweetness spilling inside like the most delicious syrup but not too sweet to become unbearable. Warm, gentle, tender. Cardia breathed out suddenly, releasing a strange tension in her body. “Don’t you think it’s my question to ask?” She protected her until the very end. How sad it was that Beckford couldn’t tell her what happened after Berserker disappeared. They never won, but in her world, there were no winners. Not at all. Everything was destroyed, she was the cause of it, but it was all right now. She had a goal and fate blessed her with seeing Skoll once more.
The maiden stepped forward without any rash movements as to not startle the other. Breaking down the privacy, the personal space she spoke of before, and forgetting the longing Cardia had suffered for all these decades if not centuries. “I missed you. Skoll. I thought I’ll never see you again.” It’s a whisper, a desperate try to express her emotions.
