- Signal in the Pines is currently available for reading on Ao3 at hornedhare and soon wattpad under the same user.
- Below the cut is information about me & general knowledge for this blog.
All About Me :D
— My alias is hornedhare &/or Jackalope.

Signal in the Pines
— Currently just a story, but who knows, if I stick with it, I might look into publishing it. It’s far too early to tell.
— First person, wrote as an online journal written by Evie Walker.
— The main characters are Everly “Evie” Walker and Kit Wilson, aside from two animals, they’re really the only characters mentioned in this story. The animal characters are Dakota “Kota” the Belgian Malinois, the second doesn’t get introduced until later in the story.
— Evie is a radio host/producer & DJ, the station name you ask? 102.7 The Howler. Kit is a private forest ranger. They work together to protect the town of Brimfield from the dark entities that reside in the woods.
— Brimfield is a small town tucked into the backwoods of Montana. Harsh winters, sweltering summers. The residents are odd, but no, they are not paranormal.

Hey lurkers! Today I have something that I consider rather special to share!
We officially have art of Evie Walker! Upon request, one of my friends, @wilted1willows, made this absolutely stunning drawing of her!! I’m genuinely so insanely tickled and in love so I had to share her with everyone! Willow perfectly captured Evie’s essence and I’m so pleased and excited to share her with everyone ><
Long time no see, huh? I’m sorry for disappearing for long! Life has been incredibly hectic and there’s been a lot of personal stuff going on so I haven’t been in the headspace to write.
My classes officially end next week, I’m currently on my last week of coursework so ideally I’ll be able to start writing more! The stress of school being off my plate will ideally allow to me feel good enough to write!
Once again, apologies for disappearing for so long! Evie and Kit will be back soon!!
hey lurkers!!! i am so sorry for disappearing for so long, so much has happened and i’ve been ferociously unmotivated but i am officially working on chapter 3 as we speak<3
hey guys! i’m sorry that there’s been a bit of a delay in posting chapter 3! a lot of stuff has happened in past few days so i haven’t had the opportunity to write sadly
Today’s special post is: Rooms of the Lookout Station!
This post will occasionally be edited & added to until I have a few of the rooms posted but for now, enjoy! Below the cut, you can currently find: Evie’s bedroom & Kit’s bedroom!
Evie’s bedroom (red) & Kit’s bedroom (teal):
Please note, these are just rough & simple designs! They do live in a lookout tower so their rooms are gonna look pretty similar. The only thing not included is their little heaters that they bought in town!
Hello lurkers! Today’s post is a bit of a housecleaning!
I’m not sure about you, but sometimes it’s hard for me to really understand a layout of something if I don’t have a visual of it. So, I decided that I’d make layouts of what the lookout station looks like; both for me and you! You can find the layouts & keys below the cut!
This is the layout for the lookout station:
Please note that there are plenty of support beams for the station, I didn’t draw them for this to prevent the drawing from being cluttered.
This is the layout for the inside of the station:
Obviously, these areas are full of equipment, furniture etc. Similar to the support beam situation, I didn’t draw them in order to avoid cluttering.
Thank you for tuning into 102.7 The Howler! Have a good day or night lurkers, Jax signing off.
