Not Gonna See It: Now You See Me 2
Man I’m pissed about this one. If there’s anything worse than the 2013 popcorn movie Now You See Me, which is about magicians doing crime , it’s Now You See Me 2. It’s a franchise now. It’s the Bourne Identity series, but with magicians.
Oh and if you’re in a hurry, you can call it NYSM2. It’s faster, easier to remember, and it rolls off the tongue.
Before I go on, I should say that I saw NYSM1, and it sucked pretty hard.
The trailer for NYSM2 is a total nightmare. It opens with Woody and Don Franco (that’s not his name) messing with each other and bro-ing down. Magician style.
We quickly learn from the trailer that this NYSM is a comedy. It seems to have A LOT more jokes than NYSM1, for example “Damn it feels good to be back!” which is a hilarious sequel joke.
Not unlike NYSM1, the cast is jam-packed. In fact, it’s embarrassingly jam-packed. Mark Ruffalo was nominated for an oscar, and he’s also in NYSM2. Harry Potter was in all of the Harry Potters, and he’s also the villian in NYSM2.
There’s also Michael Cane and of course Morgan Freeman, who plays the helper, commentator, advisor type of guy. He sort of hangs out and says things that are supposed to be wise. He’s pretty good at it.
Oh don’t forget the ladies, or should I say “lady.” Because they swapped out the token woman in this one. They lost Isla Fisher from NYSM1, so they simply did a switcheroo with Lizzy Caplan, who was sure to call out the lady thing with a terrible joke about it. She also takes off her bra and dangles it around at some point.

I wish Shell’s plan to drill the arctic were a bad joke but it’s not. Share a bad joke with greenpeace to remind the world that drilling in the arctic is not a joke.
