hiyyyaaa!! I find your work so cool, there's just something super satisfying with your composition/design, and don't even get me started on the slogans - I LOVE THE SLOGANS, I actually found you on tt before I was even aware of dbh and just adored it and now I found you here and I'm rubbing my hands together like a fly.
anyhows enough gushing, I was wondering if you'd mind sharing if there's anywhere specific you draw your references from? like time periods or inspiration from magazines or if you have some go to searches for places like pinterest??
If there's not anything dw, I just find your ideas so captivating <33 much love, keep it up
hey! thank you so much, I appreciate this. I havent been drawing lately because of life, not negatively. Im pretty happy these days dilly dallying, I dont receive asks that much these days which is fine but this caught me by surprise. It means alot to me, my old famous artworks had no inspo like the old Variant DBH Posters. But were from my genuine creativity and boredom at the time, but after those oldies, these days I have been starring at Magazines online and off the stores.
I like taking pictures of them when its really eye catching.
For other works when it comes to Hetalia. I love to look at post cards, physical and online.
I have a collection of postcards and vintage stamps, for Pinterest I sadly dont have any keywords my love, I am so sorry! I have simply curated my timeline.
But to think of it I guess one of my favourite places for inspo these days are “retro futurism artworks” but for pretty ladies it is: “Pinup girls.” Back then some people assumed I only take inspo and reference from pinterest and called me slop for it, which is. I dont really care, there is truth to it—but I just want to clarify that I take alot of inspiration and reference from irl things, like billboards, postcards, stamps, logos, graphics from shops I pass by and etc.
I dont stay indoors these days and I am always out, it is good to stare at the design around you. (I guess)
and for the slogans? thank you, yes there all originals by me, aside from the rendition of “out with the old in with the blue” by a random commenter.
Though for the Statesmp posters—those are originals. Mostly my “famous” Schpood one. I simply photobashed my reference there. I like to photobash when I want something specific. Thank you for asking me. Lots of love M.
