[trans] Goose house and Zushi Sankyoudai Members Formed a Two-men Unit “YOKOscrolls”
translating from https://e-talentbank.co.jp/news/139633/
Saito Johnny from Goose house, a group which YouTube channel has reached over 2.54M subscribers and 1.3 billion views, and Shouma, the third brother from Zushi Sankyoudai whose songs like “Junpaku no Hanayome” which often played at wedding ceremonies and “My Baby~ Suki ni Nareba Naru Hodo~” are hits for a long time formed and started a new project as “YOKOscrolls”.
They held a live streams on YouTube, Twitter and Instagram on April 5th, as it is “YOKO Day” (a world play in Japanese where you read the number 4 as “yo” and 5 as “ko”).
They greeted their respective fans, and talked about how the two who are of the same age met, formed the unit, and the origin of their name.
During the stream they also played the instrument version of their song as BGM. At the moment they already have a few songs ready to put into albums. Their musics are composed of digital beats added with country-ish sounds from acoustic guitar, banjo or mandolin, and like those in old games which give us audiences the feeling of “new but also nostalgic”. Also, we were not able to hear it in the stream, but imagining the voices of both men along those sounds sure rose the hopes in their fans.
As they claimed “even if we can’t hold concerts, we want to do something to entertain people as musicians in this dark time”, they have announced their second live stream teaser on their YouTube channel.
We surely want to see the future activities of “YOKOscrolls” which B-dashed to appear on 2020’s music world. Their first live stream can still be watched on their YouTube channel.
[Press Conference] Kei Takebuchi as Main Guest Star at 25th Gelar Jepang Universitas Indonesia
Date: Saturday, 3 August 2019 (13:15 ~ 14:00 Jakarta Time)
We had the opportunity to attend her Press Conference. It was held in Indonesian and supported with a Japanese Interpreter, I translated her answer to English for overseas fans in this site.
Please check the full Q&A session below.
All photo credit: @bagusrezandi_street
Q: Currently, you are focusing on pop music. Do you have plans to try a different genre of music?
A: Yes, my genre of music is pop. Even so, I would like to challenge myself to try another genre or collaborate with other musicians if there are some possibilities.
Q: How do you feel when the event’s committee contacted you and invited you to perform in Gelar Jepang as the main guest star?
A: Of course, I was really surprised. I couldn’t believe it at all. Even though I am aware that I have fans in Indonesia, I have never imagined that I would be invited to such a big event in Indonesia.
Q: What is your idea and inspiration when you are writing the song “in this blanket”?
A: “In this blanket” is mainly based on my feelings when I was a little child. Then, I compared those feeling to my current feelings while doing my solo career when I have to be stronger by myself. So, I wrote the song while remembering myself in the past and contemplating my current self.
Q: What is the difference between your current solo career and previously working as a group?
A: Of course I enjoyed a lot of things when being in the group, I can express my will but we have a producer to lead us. The difference when I become a solo singer is I have to take responsibility for everything I do. What kind of music, what kind of direction, activities and so on are on my hands. So, I have to be stronger than before while reflecting on my own ability.
Q: What is your turning point so you decided to become a solo artist and leave your previous group?
A: Actually, it is my childhood dream to become a solo singer-songwriter. While being part of the group, I always dream that I can be a solo singer-songwriter someday. I had been singing together with Goosehouse for 8 years. As those 8 years passed, I came to the realization that I couldn’t give up my dream so easily. Then I made my decision.
Q: Since when you learned music and who is your biggest influence in music?
A: I love to sing ever since I was born. My first performance in front of the audience was during high school and my biggest musical influence is Utada Hikaru.
Q: Why did you decide to start doing cover music on Youtube?
A: Because I like to sing, I want to convey my feeling towards the song I sang, so the listeners could have similar feelings with me. I want to sing the song that I like, and share it with others and enjoy it together.
Q: Your fans are not limited within Japan, but you have lots of fans around the world. How do you feel about it?
A: Actually, I still haven’t really felt it yet. This is the first time I went overseas outside Japan as a solo artist. So, even though there are lots of overseas fans commented on social media, I would not understand how many fans are there. That’s why when I see them in front of my eyes like here in Indonesia, I could not believe it at all. Therefore, I would like to go around countries and meet my fans directly to verify.
Q: What is the definition of “music” for you?
A: Everything is a miracle. I love to sing ever since I was a kid and that’s all I have. So, when the listeners want to hear me sing, and the fact I do love singing is a godsend. That’s like a miracle. So, “music” is a tool for me to connect with other people.
Q: Do you have any future plan or another project that you are doing right now?
A: Using Indonesia as my starting point, I would like to go to other countries as well. Sing together with each person in each country while making Youtube contents that makes everyone happy. I always read fans’ message and request in the comment, so I hope to be able to continue to make contents that could unify us together.
Q: What kind of things in Indonesia that you see interesting?
A: All of the committees are so kind and show me around, but the most interesting part is the “traffic” (laugh), especially, the bike and car. For example, you could find four people riding a bike together. That was interesting. Also, I recorded a video for Youtube yesterday in front of University of Indonesia and everyone helped me a lot. That was a very nice experience.
Q: After you came to Indonesia what kind of difference and similarities between Indonesia and Japan in general?
A: There are lots of differences I found (laugh). But the most positive difference I found here was the sign at the convenience store. It was written “Thank you for keep it clean” or “Thank you for not doing blablabla”. However, in Japan, the sign will be written as “Please do not make it dirty” or “Don’t do blablabla”. That way of delivering the message was very nice. Then, a similar point is people. Everyone was so gentle, so I could sense the deep connection with the people.
Q: During your career as a musician, what kind of experience is the happiest?
A: Such a difficult question. To be honest, when I leave Goosehouse I was so worried that the fans will also leave me. I was so scared when I am going to announce that I am going solo. Of course, the fans will ask me the reason or scold me. However, after I announced it, the fans all around the world and, of course, many from Indonesian as well, they told me “Ganbare” or “You can do it”. That was the happiest moment in my life.
Q: Do you have any other activities or hobbies besides your music career?
A: Absolutely, sleep (laugh). It is whether I am sleeping or play around with my dog. Sorry, it was such a boring thing (laugh).
Q: What is your special preparation for your performance tomorrow? Do you have a ritual?
A: I will do image training. Imagining the rehearsal from the beginning till the end within my head. Also, prepare my breathing to sing. Control my respiration flow multiple times, so it will be ready when I sing.
Q: Within your solo career are you going to focus only with originals song or plan to continue doing covers song? Also, may I ask you to sing a little bit now?
A: Of course, my main focus will be making my original song. However, since I also know doing cover song is a nice thing to do, I will keep doing it from now on.
Okay, I will a part of my song in acapella.
(Kei sang one part of the song)
Thank you!

Hey! Thanks for doing what you do. I'm from the US. Is Sayaka fluent in Korean? I was watching their stream and she was speaking in it around the 1 hour 7 min mark.
Hi anon from the US! Sayaka LOVES to watch Kdrama and follow KPOP trends. So, I guess she could speak korean even if it is just a little bit :)
Hey it seems its been a while since you have posted anything :(. How are you doing and do you know any reason why Goose House hasn't streamed anything in a while and barely upload on youtube anymore?
Hi anon! Yeah, I am so sorry for the long hiatus. Too busy for real life and forgot to continue updating this site ^^; I just randomly have a free time, then I think it might be good to answer questions I got in this site.
Well yes, Goosehouse has changed into Play.Goose now...
Hello out there I'm a fan from the Philippines. I was shocked when I read an article about majority of the Goose house members pursuing their solo careers and creating Play.goose but without Johnny and Kei confirmed it in her Instagram account regarding her plan of going solo. It really caught me by surprise since I thought that the group was only taking a break. Is this really the end of Goose house as a group?
Hi Philippines! Yes, I was shocked as well. But well everyone has their own plan and life must go on.
I don’t know about the future, but that might be it. Whatever it is, lets keep supporting them!
[review] Goosehouse x Katahira Rina, Two Man LIVE @BIGCAT Osaka - 23 June 2017
Yes, I got the tickets. I know I should not miss this opportunity to watch this combination. Goosehouse x Katahira Rina. I do like both of them.
I arrived at the venue around 17.30 and the gate will open at 18.30, then the LIVE will starts at 19.00. Of course, you could buy some LIVE goods.
People will get inside the venue based on their ticket’s number. Thankfully, I got an early number so I could get into a quite front row.
#PART ONE - Goosehouse 6 members
The first time they did a LIVE with 6 members (after Migiwa graduated).
M1. Best Friend
If you watch their last UST, you know why they chose this song. It’s supposed to be Migiwa’s song. But well... yes...
M2. Oto No Naru Hou E
Everyone tension started to rise up. All members encouraged us to clap our hands.
M3. Bokura Dake No Toushindai
Another uptempo song.
M4. You
Everyone enjoy this slow warm-hearted song.
M5. Ashita Ga Aru Sa / Kyu Sakamoto (COVER)
A song that they never performed in youtube or UST yet.
M6. Kimi Ni Hakushu Wo
An encouraging song from the boys (Kudo, Wasshuu, Johnny).
M7. Pop Up!
An encouraging song from the girls (Kei, Manami, Sayaka) to all of the Japanese girls.
M8. Hikaru Nara
Their last and finished song.
#PART TWO - Katahira Rina & the band
She sang most of her original song. This time she didn’t play her guitar because she would like to try new thing. Focus on singing without the guitar so she could focus look into the fans eyes.
She also covered Hikaru Nara on the stage!
#PART THREE - Goosehouse x Katahira Rina & the band
All members came back to the stage.... the first one to appear was Rina. She was using her new T-shirt. Also, followed by the Goosehouse’s members one by one. Then... all of the fans in the venue were laughing so hard.
You understand why, right?
Only Wasshuu didn’t wear the T-shirt.
We know what is the reason XD
Then, he responded
“They already prepared it for me. The XL size. But, when I tried to wear it. It was super tight for me LOL”
M1. Sing
All Goosehouse members with Rina sang “Sing” together. All of Migiwa’s part sang by Rina.
M2. All you need is love / the beattles
As the last song.
Hello!! this isn't related to Goosehouse (sorry) but i saw your post on attending a concert in japan, so i would like to ask you, if i bought tickets from ticketcamp (BTS tickets to be exact), is it safe, since i heard the staff sometimes checks IDs, and if it doesn't match the ID on the ticket, you won't be able to enter. Is it worth buying the tickets from the website? Thank you for your time, looking forward for you answer. :D
Hi @wandarose6277 About ticketcamp. Yes. They do check ID for the famous artist name or group (such as Johnnys artists, Larc en Ciel, etc.). I don't recommend you to buy tickets from ticketcamp for those big names. Because the price of the ticket could go doubled, tripled, and waay more expensive rather the original price. The agency did this to prevent reseller to make business of the tickets. Also, to make sure that the true fans is the people who deserved the ticket, not a random ticket reseller. However for Goosehouse's case, its not there yet. They didn't check IDs. The famous level of Goosehouse is not the same with JE or Larc en Ciel yet. Also, the price didn't went up too high overall (some did though). So, it's your decision :)
I'm from Malaysia.... Been following your blog since last year and this is my first post. Would like to know are there any Malaysia fans here ? Hahaha Cheers ! PS love your blog and the database
Hi @darellllllllllllllll from Malaysia
Thank you very much!Anyone also from Malaysia here? say hello!
Hello, thank you so much for this site! I'm from Brazil and even though my grandparents are from Japan I don't speak japanese... I'm a new fan of the band and my question is probably kind of stupid... It's about オトノナルホウへ→ (one of my favourite songs). What is that arrow in the end (→)? Does it even mean anything? Thanks again
Hi, anon from Brazil!
オトノナルホウへ→means: To the Direction of the Sound’s Echo→
The (→) means the direction of where the sounds is come from :) That’s why when you saw the album cover:
Next month i will go to Japan for 1 week, where i can buy Goose House Merchandising? Exist a real market ok goose house in Japan?
Hi anon,
Do you mean the real shop of Goosehouse’s merchandise in Japan?
Unfortunately, there is no such thing. You need to order from their ONLINE Store
Which is, you need to have an address in Japan (if you stay in the same place for 1 week, you might use that address *I guess*). Then, you can pay the amount by:
1. Bank Transfer (from cash to Japanese Bank)2. Cash on Delivery
And, hopefully, the goods will be delivered to your place within a week
Rioka and Katahira Rina also came to the LIVE yesterday.
d-iZe’s message:
“Thank you for your hard work. Let’s work hard together from now on”
#goose7 #migiwatakezawa
Rioka’s message:
“My home is still warm!
It was great!
#goose7″
Katahira Rina’s message:
“Just like seven colors of the rainbow, the stage of Goosehouse’s Final Tour was so brilliant and amazing. In the place where you were raised, even though the personality, appearance, shape are different, it will become a beautiful color when turned into a song. Although Migiwa has graduated, I will keep listening to the song of these 7 people.”
[review] Goosehouse Hajimari Hajimari Tour - Tokyo International Forum Hall A - 12 Feb 2017
My third LIVE, but this time is a full member. Tokyo International Forum Hall A - 5000 people capacity.
Luckily, I hit the lottery tickets. So, I got a very good seating position.
The second row from the stage and in the middle. I can see them clearly :)
Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to receive the “flying disk” at all. Since all the members were throwing them with all of their might.
PHASE #1 - Before Entering the Venue
I arrived at the venue at 15.00 pm (the pre-sale goods start from 15.00 - 16.30). It was a big mistake. I suggest if you want to buy something, get up early and arrive 2 hours before the pre-sale starts (which is I need to arrive at 13.00).
Why?
Your desired goodies won’t sold out yet. Especially for popular items. In my case, I started to line up from 15.00 then arrived at the goods counter at 17.38. Egg Shaker, all White T-Shirt, M & L Size of the Black T-shirt were sold out already.
Goose_heart have a tradition to take a photo shoot together before entering the venue (you can check his website). This is the right time to be friends with other housemates while the sun still shining. So... it’s better to finish the goodies early, then you still have time to socialize etc. So sad I missed this chance. Maybe next time.
PHASE #2 - The LIVE
It was a seating venue so everyone will get their seat number. It doesn’t matter when you arrived at the venue if you didn’t buy any goodies. Although you have your own seat, everyone stands all the time (except during the mellow part).
M1. Fly High So High
BAM! I was so amazed by how the light’s play enhance their performance. I admire their stage director, whoever you are. Every part, every tone, every mood... the lighting play and color could convey it so well.
M2. Oto No Naru Hou E
Kei guided all of the audience to clap their hands. The venue started to get high.
M3. NonStop! Journey
Another high spirit song.
- Introduction -
Some introduction from Kudo, “We are Goosehouse”. You need to experience by yourself how “energetic” he was tonight. He did a good job as MC. Later, Kudo asked Migiwa to introduce them to the audience. Migiwa responded in low tone greet, and Kudo felt so frustrated. Then, he asked Manami to do that.
Manami greets everyone in such a formal tone and super-formal sentence (the one you used when you are meeting a boss from a nice company).
“... for you who got seats in the very back of the first floor and second floor. Please don’t complain that you can’t see us well. You need to understand how a 148 cm girl daily life is...”
Kudo introduces all members hometown:
Johnny - from Niigata
Wasshuu - from Oita
Sayaka - from Gunma
Manami - from Chiba
Kudo & Migiwa - from Kanagawa-Yokohama
Kei - from Tokyo (she was born in Tokyo, 1-5 moved to Nagoya, then moved again to Los Angeles)
M4. Sing
The lights play on the stage was so amazing. It delivers the “friendly nostalgic” atmosphere of “Sing”. Kudo mentioned that this is a very precious song. The first song they made as Goosehouse.
M5. Koi Wa Hira Hirari -Acoustic Version-
Another nice song :)
M6. Munasawagi Navigation
Johnny grabbed his Banjo and start his short solo peformance (I thought they are going to perform Countryroad, but I was wrong...). Then, Kei follows him with this kind of short-little-flute, it gives a very new and nice mood to the song. I kind of forgot who sang d-iZe part, maybe it was Johnny? or Manami? Hmm
M7. HOY Special Medley
- Chiisana Koi No Uta (all members)
- Te wo Tatake (All the audience clap their hands)
- Konya wa Boogie Back (all the audience suddenly start to scream out loud. It only Kudo and Migiwa perform the song)
- Ai wo Komete Hanataba wo (wasshuu’s solo)
- Takane no Hanako-san (all members)
- Koisuru Fortune Cookies (Kudo and Kei sing with their shakers)
- Egao (all members)
- Toshishita no Otoko no Ko (I don’t understand why, but Kudo also follows all the girls dance movement in such annoying but fun way lol)
- Ojamajo Carnival (upbeat song)
- Koi (all members, Manami, Kei, & Kudo did the Koi Dance)
M8. MUSIC ~Namida no Niji~
Sayaka explained about Heptagon. If Goosehouse were 6 people or 8 people... they can make something related to compass, or watch. However, you can’t do that with number 7. That means you need a very beautiful balance for 7 people. Heptagon.
The song is about “congratulations (omedetou)”. The intro of the song was full of drum and timpani sound. So cool yet happy!
M9. You
A grand piano appears on the stage. Sayaka played the piano, and all members surround her. All the audience was asked to sit. A warm-slow-peaceful song.
M10. Sky
The reason why they made this song is their response to Fukushima Disaster.
Kudo made a mistake here (”that was LOVE & LIFE and Sky” he said, but they didn’t sing LOVE & LIFE yet. He was so embarassed while Wasshuu LOL-ing him a lot.)
M11. LOVE & LIFE
“Let’s gather on the table” >> what they usually do during the USTREAM
M12. Bokura Dake No Toushindai
Upbeat song
M13. Domino Effect
More upbeat and happy song
M14. Hikaru Nara
The climax! The light’s play and the color play also in their climax!
the stage was so amazing!
- Everyone went out -
- Encore request from audience -
- Everyone got back, in their Hajimari Hajimari T-shirt -
Migiwa’s farewell message: “...If I need to summarize all the words that I need to tell you...it will be... THANK YOU”.
EN1. Fuusen
It’s Migiwa’s graduation song
EN2. Kono Yubi Tomare
Final song. Each member will fly 4 of their “signed flying disk” to the audience.
I wonder who is the lucky one:,)
PHASE #3 - Finished
Everything finished. One by one the audience get out from the hall.
The nice thing is: in the hall lobby, they have this “present box”. In case you want to give Goosehouse’s member some gift. You are allowed to do that.
