CALM AND ORGANISED KITCHEN
Kitchens are a place to gather, to connect, to entertain and to prepare nourishing meals. Now’s the time to start decluttering and organising your kitchen to get ready for the warmer months. As a Professional Organiser, there is nothing I love more than helping my clients create organised, calm and inspiring spaces that reduce stress and anxiety, allowing my clients to live a less chaotic life. If your kitchen is feeling more like an agent of chaos rather than an oasis of calm, it’s time to start tackling it!
Spending time considering your households daily routine is important to nailing the right organisation and flow of your kitchen. If the first thing you reach for each morning is a warm brew, dedicate a section of your kitchen to a tea and coffee station to really heighten the experience. A dedicated snack station will ensure healthy snacks are just a reach away for hungry children or adults!
If your kitchen is in need of a change, here’s some guidance to get you on your way to that organised, calm and inspiring kitchen you’ve been dreaming of!
To begin with, think about how you use your kitchen and whether your current set up best supports this. For example, plates, cutlery, and glassware are best kept within arm’s reach of the dishwasher or kitchen sink so that putting away dishes is easy. Likewise with your stove – tools and appliances you use most often when cooking should be placed within arm’s reach.
Edit your kitchen cupboards and drawers one by one. Consider donating any unnecessary appliances that you haven’t used in the last six to twelve months. Do you really need four peelers and six wooden spoons? If you find it difficult to let items go, relocate the lesser used items to a high cupboard and set a reminder for six months’ time to sell or donate any items you haven’t used.
Let’s not forget about the disaster zone that is the cupboard or drawer, home to all those food storage containers. My rule is – if it doesn’t have a lid, it must go! Another heart stopper to focus on when organising your kitchen is the junk drawer. Even junk drawers deserve some love and attention and believe it or not, aren’t too tricky to declutter and keep organised. The Joseph Joseph Blox 10 Piece Drawer Organiser Set is the perfect way to bring order to any messy drawer!

If you’ve been on social media recently, you’ll know that fridge organising has become a ‘thing’ – and let’s be honest, what’s not to love about a fridge transformation!
Keeping your fridge organised can help keep your food fresher for longer, minimise food waste and can save you money! Start by clearing out your fridge completely, giving it a good clean and throwing out any expired food items. Add clear storage containers to categorise and group loose items together. Turntables like the iDesign x The Home Edit Deep Divided Turntable are a great option for storing condiments. And of course, labelled containers help us to place items back in their designated home after use!

An organised pantry will not only make cooking easier and more enjoyable, but it will also save you money as you won’t be buying food you already have hiding in the amongst the tinned tomatos!
No matter the shape or size of your pantry, remove every item. The chaos before the calm! Once everything’s out, discard any expired items and donate items you can’t see yourself using in the near future. Frequently used ingredients should be stored at eye level and food should be organised in categories such as breakfast, dinner, baking etc. Container packs such as the OXO POP 2.0 Pantry Container Set – 10 Pack are great for storing your food items as they come in assorted sizes and capacities, are made from durable plastic and have an airtight seal to keep your food fresher for longer.
