She had been running. Considering the fact she was on the soccer, one would think that she would be more coordinated; but no. âAh fuck,â she cursed, knowing instantly that she had twisted her ankle in trying to run away from the noise she had heard. It was dark, it was scary and she was in the forest. Yeah, she was that smart. The snapping of a stick cracking under the weight of something echoed throughout the almost silent forest, and she froze. âWhoâs there?â Her voice was no longer filled with happiness it usually had, but terror and cautiousness.Â
For once, Cullen had decided to walk home through the woods. A little father out of the way than usual, but it was nice out,  and the chances of running into anyone were slim. Or, at least he thought. He was getting close to home when he heard a voice nearby - a little out of his way, but close enough that he might as well check it out. âItâs alright,â he responded cautiously, relaxing more once he could recognize who it was. âItâs just me.â
âIâm not cynical.â
âYouâre definately cynical. Maybe not to an extreme, but still cynical.â
Lying face down her her bed Acacia was wallowing in her own self pity, like she had for the past twelve hours. Hearing her door open she spoke, âIf youâre not bringing me pizza, get out.â She said into her pillow, making it muffled.Â
âWhat did you say?â Cullen asked, even though heâd heard her perfectly well, he chose to ignore it. Instead stepping through the door before shutting it quietly behind him. âThereâs only so long you can go without texting me back before I come check on you, you know.â
werewolf-tara:
âwhat? did you live in an airport or hospital?â she questioned.
âNo, nothing like that. I did live right between an airport and a hospital once. But planes and sirens are loud enough that you can hear them from a good distance.â
chosenbenedict:
âI love the quiet. Itâs so nice to just hear nature all around youâŠâ
âDoesnât all the quiet ever make you feel isolated?â
âYou know youâve spent too much time in cities when a little peace and quiet unnerves you.â
âA little peace and quiet is one thing. It just starts to feel isolating after a while. Or maybe thatâs just the city talking.â
âAre you saying Iâm negative? Iâm not negative.â
âNo, not negative. Cynical is closer to what I was thinking.â
!
âUh-huh,â Oisin said as he thought about what exactly an airplane was. He knew what sirens were, luckily enough, he had even came across quite a few of them in his life. They always were relatively nice to him. âOh, those big things in the sky,â he let out, his own thoughts pouring out of his mouth, simply because he was glad that he could actually remember what that was. âDid you use to be near a lot of them, then?â
âYeah, those things. You donât hear them much?â He almost asked if he didnât see them much, before remembering who exactly it was he was talking to. There were just some things you had to remember about certain people in town, and Cullen wasnât exactly an exception himself. âUsually the cities my dad got transferred to had airports nearby. Itâs the kind of noise you get used to hearing, I guess.â
Bex rose an eyebrow at the boy who decided to speak to her in the park, her dark eyes only briefly looking at him before she reverted her gaze down to the book she held open on the table. She wasnât much of a talker, and whenever she was her anger almost always resulted in her lashing out on others.Â
Cullen met her eyes with a confused look and followed her gaze back down to the table. âAm I really that embarrassing to associate with in public?â He asked, leaning his weight against the table and peering at her book in an attempt to figure out what it was she was reading without getting too close.

âAm I not allowed to be in a good mood?â
âNo, you can be in a good mood all you want. Itâs just kinda weird for you is all.â
âI donât think Iâll ever get used to just how quiet this town can be. Itâs a little unnerving not hearing airplanes or sirens every twenty minutes.â
âYou know what? Today is a great day. The sun is shining, I had chocolate and itâs actually kinda warm out. So my day is great. How is yours so far?â
âYouâre in an almost unusually good mood today. I donât wanna jinx it or anything, but should I be worried?â
Iâm a thinker, not a talker.
