I took a break from stress eating and obsessively reading news on my phone and actually did something creative for the first time since self isolating. I was super inspired by the @pegandawl #quarentinebookbindingclub posts and decided to go back to one of my favorite things, making a book. I used my favorite binding from the book "Cover to Cover" by Shareen LaPlantz. I haven't done this binding in a few years, but it was like riding a bike. Stitching it together felt so familiar and good. ⁣ ⁣ I used vintage book pages, ephemera, old xeroxes, and assorted art accidents to create the #junkjournal interior. The whole thing is kinda rough around the edges, but that's what I like about it. I can't wait to fill it with photos from my HP Sprocket printer and, of course, sketches. ⁣ ⁣ The back cover features our sweet Ruby Roo, who is about to turn 14 on May 1st. Currently seeking suggestions on how to top her 13th birthday where she had a HUGE steak dinner lol. ⁣ ⁣ Hope you and yours are staying safe! Remember that it's ok to not always be productive or creative during this time... I know I have been hard on myself since I haven't been too creative since all of this started, but I'm trying to be okay with just being okay during these strange and difficult times.
