Black Spring Weekly 53 is here What Returns Wears a Different Face.

This week I'm upright again. Back injury from… was it last week? The week before? Time blurs when you're icing your spine. The bonus of forced stillness? More painting. The downside? I miss moving. Maybe I should take up contemporary dance. (I will not take up contemporary dance.)

Inside: the eternal struggle of selling sketches (frame them? mount them on cardboard? summon an act of god?). My crash from the diet is real – chocolate cravings have left evidence throughout these pages. I'm learning that plateaus are just permission to eat a burrito and start again.

Also: strawberries. I don't trust them, but the body demands its small rebellions. So I've included a cardamom strawberry cake and a cocktail called The Heart of the Martyr. Eat alone in the dark. I won't judge.

Other highlights: a deep dive into pendulums, are they magic or just your subconscious twitching? (Spoiler: both.) Fantasy Sumo (yes, really). A gross book that made my top ten. Plus original art: Mr. X, Cobweb, the All-Spring Eye Bag, and a vampire princess who deserves an oil painting.

Spring is still lying, but at least the strawberries are honest about their thorns.
