lol i luv to be me and such a snake last night my housemates were wanting to go out to a local pub / club because they had some work people around and i was there for the pre drinks on and shoes ready to go and then as we were leaving a glass shattered so i stayed to clear it up and try to get rid of the broken glass on the floor and immediately took that opportunity to just sack everything off and go to bed instead without telling anyone. i absolutely know i am going to get shit for it this morning but it was such a better decision and i feel great right now
i was meant to be meeting with A Girl for a day of activities today however she had to rearrange to later this weekend for some sort of home emergency so instead i have spent literally all of today cleaning
i must have started around half ten and literally only just finished. gone through all the things you completely forget about (descaling a coffee machine, washing the windows etc) and mopped all the floors (well, communal spaces + my room, my housemates can sort their own shit out) whilst also washing bedsheets and teatowels and everything. all of my housemates are away all weekend and it just feels so nice to have a totally clean place and know you can keep it that way for days honestly it was a long day but proper self care lads i can’t wait to wake up to a clean kitchen and floor

today i went to the barbican for the openfest and we thought we were walking to the main hall but accidentally got to the entrance for Tunnel Vision, which was one of the shows. it was free but ticketed and all of the tickets were gone but luckily the person on the door said someone hadn’t been able to use all their tickets, and conveniently it was three tickets they couldn’t use and there was three of us
so we went in and it was the most phenomenal thing. the barbican tunnel closed off, blasting classical music whilst projectors lined the wall projecting a fantastic light show the whole way down the tunnel. honestly it was the coolest thing and we got so lucky to get in and i now want all concerts to take place in tunnels with projectors everywhere
i met with a girl yesterday evening and we went to a late night exhibition, talked, bought lots of wine, talked and talked and kissed she was so nice
i got back late, slept badly and have woken up really early but i don’t mind because it’s given me more time to feel myself smiling

alright lads if you don’t follow me on instagram (and u shud be following me! hsimah.forbes i’m great) you may not know that i am currently in dubai
out here doing #work i had a couple of meetings today, am going to set up my stall at the world trade centre tomorrow and then tuesday - friday i’m sat there trying to peddle some wares!! by myself! before another week of hanging out in dubai and then doha
it’s a pretty weird place. i think i will wait until i’ve seen more before giving a full evaluation but my main takeaways from it so far:
- BIG TOWERS
- stressful malls which make Westfield seem like a pleasant place
- there are no pedestrians? like anywhere? there’s also like no pavement. you quite literally can’t walk in many places without just walking on sand next to a fat road
i went to Daylight Music and Union Chapel today and it was soo good i have no idea how i haven’t heard of it before
such a great idea - concerts which are pay what you can starting at midday in a beautiful location, going until about 2. a cafe in there supporting a homelessness initiative and a chance to hear musicians you aren’t familiar with (and some you are - in the past they’ve had people like nils frahm play!!)
anyway today it was Matt Emery and Poppy Ackroyd (i only found out about it because of the latter) and i was so blown away, it was like the perfect way to start a saturday because you’re never really doing things at midday so why not a super cheap concert
My mood
since we moved into the new house we have had my housemate’s xbox one in the living room (was in his room before) and i’ve been like a 16 year old again, just playing loads and loads of games
and like i don’t know where i got the time from? i don’t know what i was doing before in the time i have been spending playing games, because i am still going out and doing things
anyway i started to feel really sad about the fact that i am just sat there inanely building larger and larger settlements on fallout 4 so am going to try and pack it in and be a bit more proactive / productive, reading more, trying to do things again
if anyone wants to hear a song which has been blowing me away lately, listen to suzanne kraft’s flatiron. the kind of piece which you think you’re listening to in the background then quickly find all attention dragged to. it’s excellent
i had such a good day! i went out for brunch late this morning and then after that went to get another ear piercing (a second one on my left lobe, it looks really good). after that i went to meet a friend to see the tove jansson exhibition in dulwich but that was so far away so i was on the bus for like an hour which gave me plenty of time to read. i managed to finish my current book (We Were Eight Years in Power) which i thought was excellent. the exhibition was also fantastic - her drawing style was just so fantastic and we got to see some of the sketches and pages of her The Hobbit illustrations! after that we went for a drink & dinner and then to Deptford (middle of nowhere, south east london is dead) to the cinema to watch Raw. it was really gross and stupid but i also really liked it and would recommend as long as you can stomach lots of blood
anyway it has been such a lovely day! i love being busy i should do it more often
in preparation for moving to france in 7 months (!! for those of you who don’t have me on other forms of social media, i got my masters place !!) i did my first bit of learning online. nothing that serious, just the first chapter of some free course and a bunch of duolingo
and i’ll have to keep discipline to keep doing this v regularly and then stepping on to more serious / proactive courses and really giving it my all! otherwise nobody will be able to speak to me and i’ll feel very uncomfortable. i suck at going on holiday because if i don’t have anyone who can speak the language i will just avoid interactions. when i was in bologna i nearly didn’t have any lunch at all because every time i looked in the window a food shop i got nervous that i couldn’t speak italian so didn’t go in until it got too much to bear and that’s fine for one day but an impractical way to live your life
okay my like resolutions for this year are small and achievable:
1 - eat more fruit (already had a smoothie an apple and an orange today - back of the net)
2 - avoid reading books by white men (whilst maintaining the whole reading books thing)
