Galo whistled as he looked up into the sky, brightly colored kites dotting the landscape. Really, this was awesome. Even though he knew nobody really knew it was his birthday, he was pretty used to kind of just pretending like whatever cool thing was happening was for him. His last birthday parties he could barely remember, so if everyone was having fun, then at least he could celebrate with them.

“I’ve never seen kites like that! I wonder if they’re letting us make some!”

Now he was getting amped at just the possibility of being able to make and fly his own kite. Yeah, he knew exactly what he was going to make! A Matoi to pierce the heavens!

“Do you know!?” Turning to the pretty person next to him, he probably seemed pretty intense.

Bound in lethargy as he is, there is something quite contagious about the fiery energy beaming off the young man that accosts him suddenly. Had Louis’ spirits not already been lifted by the sight of rainbow coloured kites surfing the skies, then that burst of liveliness surely would have done the trick. He’s only disappointed that his answer is not what the man appears hopeful for.

   ❛ I don’t sorry, I haven’t seen anyone making their own. ❜

Louis supplies, shaking his head lightly.

Holding a pause, a delicate hand plunges deep into the small handbag slung across his shoulder and from it pulls out a pair of styling scissors. He snips at the air a few times, pleased smile etched onto his lips.

   ❛ I always carry a pair of these around, I’m sure it wouldn’t hurt to take some of the spares and do some customising. What d’you think? ❜

As the final day of Springtide festivities dawns, Louis notices a sparseness in the eggs previously scattered about the island in their thousands as miniature prized bounties for any who snuffed them out. Maybe lady luck simply skipped his name from her list today, or maybe he just wasn’t searching in the right places. A shame, as he’d hoped to liberate a few more of those poor little frogs stuffed inside the plastic shells,

Equipped with a small, straw woven basket hanging off one elbow, Louis nevertheless continues combing through the scenery for any undiscovered leftovers. From the looks of a young girl nearby with her own, scant collection of eggs, he wasn’t alone in the endeavour.

He’s sensed the burn of malicious gazes lingering on his back across several blocks now, motivating tired feet to travel at a brisker pace in attempt to shirk his pursuers, to no avail. For what reason this unsavoury group picked him, of all people to tail, was anybody’s guess. 

He carries no money or valuables on his person, though Louis supposes that wouldn’t be apparent to anyone not deliberately searching him for them. Turning the next street corner quickly, a tense breath shakily exhales upon sighting another pedestrian lone walking. Louis hurries to catch up and fall into step besides them, his hand tentatively reaching for their arm.

   ❛ Hey, excuse me. ❜

   ❛ I think I’m being followed, can I walk with you for a bit? ❜

After living with a mess of guys who wouldn’t know fashion if it hit them in the face and spending prolonged time with a tomboy who believed that plaid would be the catalyst for world peace, it was nice to talk to someone who actually had an idea about fashion.

He’s almost reluctant to accept the compliment, knowing he’d just sort of haphazardly matched whatever his half-asleep self first grabbed out of his wardrobe before strolling out soon after.
