although it’s not necessarily something to be proud of, parties are dolly’s wheelhouse. it’s an excuse to consume alcohol and other party favours without exposing her poor coping habits to everyone else she knows. people get wild at parties, that’s what they do, so it’s normal for dolly to be stumbling around with glazed eyes and a dreamy smile. she left her prior company at some point to refill her emptied cup but she managed to get lost somewhere along the way, other distractions keeping her from getting to her real destination. it’s hard to get anywhere when the room is spinning and you’ve got massive platforms on your feet, so it’s only natural that she eventually finds a surface to collapse upon to get her thoughts in order. she sinks into the couch immediately, heavy breath escaping her lips. she thinks about closing her eyes but that only makes the spinning worse so she’s forced to keep them pried open despite how blurry everything around her seems. dolly can’t even really make out the face of the person sitting next to her unless she tries REALLY hard, but she has no qualms taking the bill from him anyway. she’s already disappeared to the bathroom three times throughout the course of the night to do this exact thing in privacy and if she wasn’t as cross-faded as she was in that moment, she would have been wary of partaking so publicly. almost like she’s on auto-pilot, she hunches over the table and hoovers up a line for herself, sniffling afterwards and pinching the tip of her nose as she settles back into the couch once more. “thanks man,” she sighs the words, hands resting on her stomach as she leans back.
the woman next to him begins coming into focus, as if his visual was a shitty camera, all her features become clearer by the second. harry then realizes then that it’s dolly, and he snickers. he’s surprised, actually, to see her do coke for one, but also to catch her at a house party as he rarely saw her much, despite them both living in the same building. he didn’t bother to get her attention or try to make her see it was him. clearly, she was over the moon, and he was just going to let the female indulge it. he knew she might not remember much either way. “uh huh,” he said with his lips against the rim of a beer, tipping it back and finishing it off. he set the empty bottle on the table before he fuck-it-edly picked up the bill again. the first line always makes you want to do another, and so on a so forth, but he did one more, scrunching up his nose in response to the familiar feeling. “shit,” he said, harsh under his breath as he tossed the bill onto the table for the rest around them to pick up if they chose. finally, he, too, cross-faded beyond belief and feeling more empty headed than usual, fell further into the folds of the couch (or maybe it just felt that way). he crossed one arm behind his head to rest his curls against it, and let the other fall across his abdomen. unfortunately, he was feeling braver with each passing minute, and his hooded gaze shifted over to dolly then. he took the blunt he’d laid in the ashtray back up, lighting it quickly and attempting to pass it to the her. “hey.. you think i should go bald?” he muttered to the female as he did, sounding thoughtful... and also.. interested by the idea that wormed it’s way into his thought process.
