heās about to apologize again when minami sweeps him off his feet as if guanghong weighs nothing. the apology turns into a surprised squeak instead, though the surprise doesnāt last long as sleepiness settles in again. he could probably fall asleep in minamiās armsā or probably even on the floor reallyā though he forces his eyes to remain open for the little trek to his bedroom, barely registering where he is until he feels the soft bed beneath him. he had already been tired while seated on the couch, but it seemed like trying to get up and move had reminded his body of how much energy he really had used today.
guanghong doesnāt even care that he hasnāt washed up or changed clothes, heād rather spend one night in his day clothes than get up and change now. but even through the exhaustion, he does feel a little guilty over minami being stuck in his living room with nothing to do but nap.Ā āi have lots of books⦠if you feel like reading anything,ā he mumbles as he burrows into the covers, effectively making a little blanket burrito for himself.Ā āmostly about witch stuff though, i donāt know if itāll be interesting to you.ā if minami has any interest in learning about witches then perhaps those books could keep him entertained for a little while at least.Ā
a yawn escapes him before he can continue talking, not even bothering to open his eyes again when he speaks.Ā ādonāt be alarmed if you see a cat come in through the windowā¦Ā ās just naonao. she visits sometimes. mightā¦ā he yawns again, too tired to even feel embarrassed about it anymore.Ā āmight take some time before she warms up to you. she comes and goes a lot.ā
he canāt think of anything else he needs to addā if minami was curious about anything else he could probably just figure it out himself by having a proper look around. thereās a small part of guanghong that feels a little uncomfortable with having someone snoop around his home (especially since he hadnāt tidied up the place since last week), but he figures minami should be allowed to look around given that this will be his home for a short while too.
āā¦good night, minami.ā
Minami gave a simple nod of his head at that new piece of information before he left the boy on his own to sleep, a soft āGoodnight, Guanghongā uttered as he left the room, he probably wouldnāt have minded anyway had a cat just wandered in, animals were useless to him usually, their blood didnāt taste half as nice as humans did so usually he only bothered with them if he was starving. Thankfully, he wasnāt starving. Plus, he usually got along with cats, having had one a long long time ago when heād been weak and mortal. Sheād kept him company until the end and once heād turned, sheād lived out the remainder of her days with him in his sireās home, comfortable and content.
And that was it, for the rest of the night heād be on his own again, the constant steady thump of a heartbeat close by and the warmth still circulating in his system had him settling into a calmer, lulled state of being, perusing the bookshelves Guanghong had mentioned and plucking out the thickest one he could find, something about herbalism which Minami would later realise had many many ties to witch craft, especially since the entire book seemed to have scribbles down each page with what potions each herb or plant would go into, what their effects would be.Ā
Seemed like old writing though, the pages were old, weathered, it looked older than his new companion was, perhaps it belonged to the grandmother Guanghong mentioned, heād find out eventually, probably.
That led him into the kitchen though, curiously, as quiet as he could be, rummaging around the cupboards, exploring what the boy had in both his potions ingredients cupboards and his normal cooking ingredients cupboards, the new information heād soaked up from reading that book helping him to identify what each plant-based ingredient was and what it could be used for should he ever need it. Not for himself of course, but if Guanghong ever needed help with something he could always help. The other cupboards found very little in the way of cooking ingredients, he had some things but⦠it seemed like heād not re-stocked in a little while, probably trying to get rid of what he had before shopping for more, which⦠was honestly something he could⦠probably help with.
Fresh meats were easy to find and nothing could be fresher than something a vampire could catch and kill. Fresh deer, fresh fish anything living that his boy would eat, Minami could catch it for him easily. Heād ask when Guanghong woke up, but that pretty much concluded his exploring of the small house, returning himself right back to the couch where lo-and-behold a beautiful black feline had made herself comfortable.
āHm⦠so you must be Naonao?ā he hummed, sitting himself down on the couch and making himself comfortable beside her, stretching himself out just enough to disturb the feline into standing and hopping up onto his lap, curling up right there leaving him well and truly stuck for the rest of the night. He knew the rule, if a cat made you its bed, that was it, you were stuck until it moved. āHm, so much for needing time to adjust huh⦠I had a cat onceā he spoke softly, fingers gently stroking through beautiful black fur doing his very best to be mindful of his own sharp fingernails āshe had longer fur than you, real lazy bonesā¦ā Gosh itād been so long but her gentle purring put him at ease, had him settling down onto the couch the gentle pettings slowing to a stop as he drifted off somewhere around 4am, content and comfortable enough to sleep where he was, listening to the purring of the feline, and the steady heartbeat in the other room.
