Stilena <3
doppelgangerxblood:
truthfully, the idea of losing stiles was something she couldn’t fathom or live with, friend or other half, she would accept any part of him she could get, anything he gave her was better than nothing at all. she used to believe that. not that she doesn’t currently, but she was starting to understand why exes couldn’t be friends. those who could bear it were the lucky ones, leaving the other half to suffer quietly. after all of this elena was going to need more than therapy to pull herself above the surface.
their fun seemed to draw the attention of curious bystanders, making the challenge that much more memorable and exciting, if somebody had asked her. probably why the female wasn’t taking it too seriously either, being in the vicinity of her ex lover whom she still had strong feelings for, in this carefree moment he was just a friend, a fun drinking buddy, plenty of witnesses, no chance of embarrassing herself, well… nothing stupid like confessing her true feelings. the game she proposed didn’t count. “I know right!?” agreeing with his statement with a gleeful smile, wondering herself who half these people were. they did not look old enough to be college students, though that wasn’t really any concern of hers.
elena reached for her purse in her handbag once she noticed stiles reaching for his back pocket, offering up a twenty dollar bill also. placing the money carefully onto the keg, chocolate irises then capture his, a playful and bright image reflects determination. somewhat a tactic, wholly to gauge his reaction. “mhm, i am sure they wouldn’t be laughing if they knew what was under them boxers.” tilting her head slightly with a quirk of her brow, top of lip dragging over the bottom as she holds in a cheeky smile-grin. who’s to say where the line was drawn? a few faces surrounding them slightly gaped, allowing the conviction to sink in. how she loved to hear her name sounded like that on his lips, on her lips, against the crease between her shoulder and neck– fucking hell elena. “on the count of three? ready when you are.”
Stiles made a small snort when she mentioned what was underneath his clothes. His amber hues darted around the room as the onlookers seemed a little surprised by how bold Elena seemed in saying what she said. The male let out another laugh, more of a hearty chuckle. As the alcohol pulsated through his veins, the room seemed to tilt but somehow, the male stood proudly, excited to play this little game of truth or dare. While his mind raced with scenarios of himself asking Elena if she held feelings for him still.
The tilt of her head wasn’t making it any easier to breathe. Even in such a nearly delirious state, he could still see Elena and all her beauty. It wasn’t just her long, flowing chocolate locks, nor was it just her eyes or her smile. Stiles stood there in awe a moment, until one of their drinking buddies clasped him on the shoulder and tethered him back to the moment and the party. Maybe it was the alcohol but he seemed to have tunnel vision and easily forgotten about the blasting bass of the music, the loud chatter of the crowds, as all he could see was her.
Sliding a free hand down his face and then his chin, Stiles promptly nodded at her question. “Ready as I’ll ever be!” He exclaimed, obvious delight in his tone of voice. He was smart, but Elena could out wit him as she had on many occasions back in high school. “You start. Ladies first!” Was she going to dare him to do something silly or was she going to offer him a question he had to answer with a hundred percent honesty. Flashes of the affection Elena used to give him swelled in his ever wasted mind. It was as if she was so far away now; a stranger almost, despite the banter that fell naturally between the pair. Raising his red cup, he brought it to his lips and began to hastily chug it. Once he parted from the cup for air, he realized how bad he was at chugging any sort of substance. Still, his interest in the game was causing Stiles to be hyper aware of the gorgeous doppelganger standing just too far away from him. In fact, he silently wished she was still close enough to kiss; a thought that continued to nag and tease Stiles.
doppelgangerxblood:
even now, she has trouble breaking the chains that keep her tied to the stilinski boy, but you didn’t have to be a love doctor to know that. everyone knew it, everyone saw it..not as though elena was a expert in emotions keeping, if at all. she herself caught her breath at how close proximity she came to him, one sudden bump and she would have practically collided into his lips. which was a problem. much like aching in the form of a blister or sore, this one doesn’t have a cure or chance in hell of ever vanishing. she wanted to kiss him so badly, so terribly.. tether him closer to her, to feel close as they once were. she couldn’t say for sure if he felt the same, if the reason he looked as though he was sparing a moment was because he couldn’t stand to be this close to her and not hold her or kiss her. that this courage displayed wasn’t somewhat a result of the alcohol firing through her veins, digging at her innermost desires.
another reminder that liquor and elena do not mix, she was too reminiscent for her own good. like a switch had registered inside her head, the act had been taken down a notch the moment stiles could step away, kind of thankful that he was able to do what she could not will herself to. he probably couldn’t understand how hard this was for her. he had moved on with his dream girl and she was all alone. he was able to get her out of his system sooner, while she was still in the state of trying. that’s what she thought anyway. little does the brunette know..
“you can’t have changed that much,” she throws into the conversation after he claimed to have built a better tolerance for booze, bringing the head of her cup over the tube of the keg as she contests disbelief, before finally retracting her cup the second the beverage is to the top. “now that I’d pay to see.” offering the same slight laugh at his silly expressions, the woman rolls her eyes in mock annoyance and lips curl into a small smirk, curiosity piqued. “okay. we’re not just playing for bragging rights are we? why don’t we make it interesting…” interesting like? elena hadn’t the slightest idea, but if she were to lose, it’d be for stiles any day of the week. “winner gets to choose truth or dare and the loser has to answer truthfully or do the dare, no questions asked. if they fail to do said truth or dare, the loser has to pay up in money.”
Once upon a time, Stiles would’ve done anything for Elena. And even though they weren’t romantic partners any longer, he still would’ve done anything for the woman. Curious eyes wandered over Elena’s face, rich caramel hues swirling with enjoyment behind them. It wasn’t hard for an onlooker to see that there was probably still some sort of link the two shared; a bond which he never felt with Lydia. Yeah, he’d pined for the redhead since they were children, but truth was that Stiles was still in love with Elena. A tremor of guilt swam down his spine at the thought, until Elena pulled him back to reality.
“Interesting?” Now his entire attention was heavily placed in his ex’s direction. Once the other brunette responded, explained what was churning in her mind, Stiles made a small popping noise with his lips. Small laughter spilled from peach lips, edges of his lips pulling into a wider smile. “Why does that sound more appealing than just crowd surfing and making small talk with people I’ve never met before?” He could tell at least half of the guests relishing in the party were probably high schoolers. Why the Salvatore brothers didn’t round them up and throw them out of the party that was meant for college kids was beyond Stiles.
Intrigued, Stiles wondered if Elena had an ulterior motive asking him to play truth or dare. Would she ask him a truth regarding his true feelings for her? Or would she simply dare him to make a fool of himself? “Aha, money’s involved, is it? Count me in.” Fishing for his wallet in his back pocket, Stiles withdrew a twenty dollar bill and slapped it down onto the top of the keg. Sure, they weren’t teenagers any longer but they were still lively and he wanted to believe that perhaps a small part of him wished he could tell Elena how he really felt about her. “Just don’t ask me to run around in my boxers or something. I spent years being the laughing stock of our grade level.” A small reminder that Stiles was somewhat insecure though he had been used to being the ‘loser’ back in school. “Give me your best shot, ‘Lena.” Oh boy, how he loved being challenged. Maybe if he played his cards right, the night wouldn’t be without enjoyment.
Boys. Hey, time to wake up. Boys. Boys! I got to get to work. You two get to school.
doppelgangerxblood:
to this day elena felt immense guilt. one, for not telling stiles how she felt sooner before it was too late to do anything about it, by then believing to be a high school phase, where lydia was the real deal. she was everything he had wanted since they were kids, recalling the massive crush he carried for her and she couldn’t very well come in between that..as much as she dreaded it. the second and final reason, regrettably giving lydia her blessing to date Stiles if he made her happy, it only seemed fitting since she helped in getting stiles back, bringing him home to her. even if she wasn’t his any longer. she couldn’t help but ask herself would things have been different if she hadn’t of witnessed stiles and lydia kiss, if she had just stayed away, if she had shown up seconds after, would it have solidified what she already knew deep down? would it have changed anything? it could have changed everything, if she thought to check rather than assume.
she doesn’t miss a beat to gloat, a shit-eating grin pulling at the front of her lips. elena cant remember the last time she had this much fun, let alone social interaction outside of classrooms and studying and roommate chatter. missing the old days when she didn’t have to try so hard to fit in somewhere, when there was always something to do on weekends. despite saying otherwise, those were the days she surely dwelled on, largely due to the brown eyed boy she’d come to miss, to every extent. bearing a pensive look to that same man. no one around them would think anything of it, no one would assume for a second the passing of silence was the pair stripping one another naked with their eyes or elena unintentionally intentionally lighting a blazing fire, only to want to get burnt all over.
dark-eyed hues become narrow but fascinated at the demand, adsorbed against his own eyes as he drew her in with his words, defeat not something she can afford tonight, especially when he defined the term troublemaker. “gladly.” she points her chin up, a few inches from his face and cock of eyebrow rose brazenly. although their hands touch briefly, she doesn’t let up the affect he brands on her soul. “tell me when to stop, stilinski.” implying wherever his mind goes, she begins to fill his cup, shifting towards him and back. never mind that you could cut the sexual tension with a knife, though in retrospect this could’ve been avoided too, if either knew how to admit defeat. or wanted to, going on pure instincts and feelings.
The look in Elena’s eyes felt new, despite his mind vaguely recalling said look on her face whenever she was in a playful or sexy mood. Stiles’ cheeks flushed a ruby shade, eyes blinking rapidly once more though they remained in contact with Elena’s doe eyes. And the grin she wore sent him spiraling into memories of her lips upon his skin, upon his neck; active flush of his cheeks brightening a shade. Would she notice? Or would he be able to play it down smoothly? There’s never been anything smooth about you, goddamn idiot. Snapping his eyes shut for a moment, Stiles scolded himself, inhaling the aroma of the brunette’s perfume as his breath mingled with Elena’s in the close space they shared.
It became far too difficult for Stiles to pull away from his ex-lover. How badly he yearned for Elena, desired to feel her touch once more. Maybe it was the alcohol consuming his every waking thought. Or, maybe it wasn’t. The male was uncertain now, despite every ache in his bones screaming to seal the small gap between their bodies. “Mm,” He retracted his cup once the substance was filled inside it. Tongue swiped across his lower lip hastily before the brunette finally eased up and took a marginal step back from Elena. “I can’t say I’ve seen you this... confident in a while.” If only he couldn’t hear Lydia’s voice in the back of his mind, perhaps he’d had caved and feverishly kissed the doppelganger right then and there.
Finally, he pried his eyes open, willing himself to gaze back at Elena. The cocked eyebrow on her face told Stiles she was enjoying this game between them and his own grin widened, indicating that he too was falling into whatever this was becoming. “I’m telling you that I’ve picked up a few pointers while drinking with Scott. I don’t surrender as quickly as I used to. You know,” His mouth sat agape a moment, free hand moving while he spoke. “I’m not sixteen anymore and I will not let you win, Elena.” Yup, he was challenging her. “I’ll let you tell me when you’d like to wave the white flag. ‘Cause I’m not going down without a fight.” He then wiggled his brows in a playful manner, small laugh slipping through his parted lips.
doppelgangerxblood:
on a typical night the love struck teens came together with their other friends, spending most of the evening attached at the hip, ridiculously in love, indifferent to the happenings around them. they were the couple that would surpass high school dating, they were going to go the distance, according to bonnie and scott, who were their personal cheerleaders in the relationship. caroline couldn’t understand it at first but supported her best friend regardless of the dork she believed elena gave her heart to. it was actually pretty funny, because he was a dork and she would defend his honor whenever anyone called him names but he was her dork and elena was proud of the fact. alas, this was no common evening, a strange and reoccurring tug at her heartstrings ever since the split. it was enough to make angel’s weep.
she understood all too well the road that separated them from crossing, a certain redhead came to mind, making this interaction strictly platonic, in every sense of the word. ignoring the small detail she had said in the past, too. forgetting that then also. she wouldn’t have to however, not when the truth was hidden right in plain sight. he did that neck rub thing when he was nervous or anxious, a lot of it both at the same time. countering, fingers skimmed through her brown tresses as she tucks a string of hair falling down her face behind her ear, swallowing the nervous traction in her throat. heat absentmindedly creeping up on her.
voicing a snort at the absurd thought, teeth pull at lower lip to lessen the cackle to pass her lips. “i think.. it’s probably for the best. though she’ll be missed.” the female watched as he poured her a drink, absolutely not observing muscles pulsate through his forearm, noticing he looked.. different? almost like he worked out now. elena shrugged the thought away, never knowing stiles and working out to be in the same sentence – “to sandy,” said teasingly, before attempting to scull the alcohol down as she scowled. successfully, the proud doppelganger raises her cup and turns it upside down to show her victory, seeing as stiles was still scoffing his down. “can’t keep up stilinski? then again, i was always better at this,” she giggled in typical gilbert fashion, anticipating stiles’ next move. “among other things..” she slipped, mentally kicking herself after the innuendo was made.
It almost felt foreign to Stiles, being in the same room with his ex-girlfriend and sharing a light-hearted banter with the doppelganger. He couldn’t recall in his drunken state of euphoria when he last saw Elena; bubbly beer sliding down his throat as he tried to keep pace with her. However, his mind fell to a younger time, when they both defied the odds of their relationship and proved every single one of their friends wrong about their connection. It was magical to Stiles, how Elena could walk into a room and her smile warmed the entirety, wall to wall. It’s then he reminded himself that it had been horribly wrong to have walked out on such a free spirit such as the Gilbert woman.
She had kept him sane, kept him safe, though the both of them were just two mortals in a concoction mixed with danger at every corner. The brunette had all but been the sole reason Stiles had been remembered by his family and friends when the Ghost Riders had stormed the small town. And while Stiles wouldn’t admit it aloud, Elena kept him tethered to his sanity after the nogitsune had tried to rip a hole within his very soul; a void still there since. Shaking away the horrible memories that tethered the two of them to each other, Stiles’ brows came together once more, head softly tilting at Elena. Coughing gently, he hadn’t succeeded in his feat to triumph over the woman as she had chugged her beer much more successfully than Stiles had.
“Is that your way of asking for a round two? ‘Cause I could do this all night.” And her trailing off had him interested; intrigued beats flared in chestnut orbs. Miserably failing, he had to blame the vodka he’d consumed with Scott prior to Elena’s arrival. However, Stiles was enjoying himself so much so, he didn’t want to admit defeat. “Other things?” At that point Stiles was straddling the line of friendship and harmless flirting. Was it really harmless though? Especially if he was still in love with the doe eyed girl? “You do the honors.” Extending the tap of the keg to Elena, he then put his own cup underneath it, fingers grazing Elena’s hand momentarily.
doppelgangerxblood:
elena wondered what was going on in that head of his, of course too distracted to note where her own thoughts often lead; quite a feat from where she stood, that was for sure. visions of them in a feverish dream never strayed too far from the front of her mind, the memory of their last time together emerging to the surface without the doppelgänger’s awareness she was doing it. picturing the male’s hands warming up her body and his soft lips bringing about the sweetest hum-
no. stopping herself mid thought and partial lip bite, elena shook her head from side to side and shrugged slightly, smile growing as the tiny laugh emits carefree into the air. “oh, i forgot, but in all seriousness, whatever happened to that bat of yours? i thought you two had a good thing going,” wriggling her eyebrows, he’d find her cheeks formed a darker color red the more their conversation had flowed. when he stared at her, the less she remembered he had a girlfriend, and that her eyes shouldn’t be flickering to places that weren’t hers to openly gaze at or kiss.
adverting chocolate hues across the room at all the party goers, the heat that arose to her cheeks the sudden cause of it. this was going to be harder than she realized, but did she want him to see her differently? to look at her any differently than he had in the past? while knowing he was a taken man…that was where the guilt resided, where it had taken form. where her desire dare not venture where it had already been. that’s the thing about a challenge though, it never ends well. “I’ve sworn off evil for a while. i mean we have to take a weekend off too, right?” though elena felt the response warranted a much in depth answer, she was hoping that’d be tomorrow’s problem and seeing that stiles was half blind was a factor he wouldn’t look too much in to. “it’s not as fun if we’re not at the same level, but i can hardly refuse a drink when it’s being offered, now can i?” a tilt of her head back, some flirting in her tone as dark irises blink mischievously in the brunet’s direction. she was feeling brave tonight for someone who hasn’t had an ounce of liquor to drink, than someone who was influenced by it. which is what fuelled them individually, which is what made it worse. flirting with your ex boyfriend was never good. nothing good could come out of this…or could it?
Always observant, Mieczyslaw took notice of the way her chocolate orbs stayed on his lips; though only a fleeting moment as he found himself almost in trance with her eyes. The words she spoke barely registered to the male, another dry lump being forced down with a thick swallow. There’s no way Elena could’ve wanted more than just casual talk at some lame party, right? Not when Lydia was still attached to Stiles. Again, this was just friendly banter. Finally peeling his gaze from the doppelganger’s hues, he could feel the heat climbing up the back of his neck. Instinctively, Stiles rubbed the skin there before grasping for a ruby disposable cup.
“Oh, you mean Sandy? Yeah, we’re sort of on a break. Kinda traded her in for this gorgeous aluminum bat. Figured it works better without, you know, splintering and breaking in half.” His own lopsided grin grew as Elena mentioned swearing off evil. It was much too true that they’d spent too many nights as high schoolers fending off the evil that seemed to linger around Mystic Falls. As the other brunette took him up on the offer of a drink, he began pouring the substance from the keg into the red cup.
Extending it to Elena, Stiles’ smile turned smug, slightly flirtatious. He was drunk, far too drunk and yet, he was still standing somehow. Blinking rapidly for a moment, he then proceeded to fill a second cup; one for himself to indulge in. “Bottoms up, Gilbert.” Glint of excitement lit up his honey hues before Stiles decided to slam the drink down and chug half of his own.
doppelgangerxblood:
feeling as though it was just yesterday they had graduated, getting ready for the next chapter of their lives. elena was sad to leave it behind her, but glad to let go of the high school drama at least. most of the gang had disbanded, going their own way and doing what made them happy. what being an adult was suppose to be all about, although elena was reluctant to leave jeremy all alone until he too pursued whatever it was he wanted to. surprisingly doing much better than she gave him credit for. considering caroline and bonnie were her roommates, escaping them was near impossible but that’s how close the three have always remained, and elena wouldn’t have it any other way.
elena didn’t know whether coming was a good idea or not, but it was either suffer through boredom or take a trip down memory lane, at the very least catch up with a few friendly faces and have a potential night of fun, as opposed to being cooped up in her dorm all weekend. college was all about new beginnings and experiences and admittedly the brunette was still working out the kinks. this is good. this will be fine – she mumbles before entering through the door, the music blaring considerably the moment she lets herself in. it’s a good thing she knew this town like the back of her hand. Salvatore’s included.
it’s not that Elena wasn’t happy to see stiles, she wasn’t anticipating such a welcoming so soon, to see him so soon after.. well.. their goodbye. it didn’t in any way feel finished.. but nonetheless, she couldn’t help but smile, confusing and intricate as it was to do so. just by looking, she had an inkling he was drinking. it was obvious, otherwise why would he have so boldly called her over? unless he was just being stiles, as if that’s never not the case. “stiles, hey.” he’s the first person she finds in a crowded room, like old times her eyes stuck on him a moment longer than needed. scott stood there awkwardly, with a ‘i’m here’ too smile, elena grinned straight after seeing his reaction once she broke eye contact with stiles. “i’m surprised you came back…most people usually stay away for good, you know.” teasing as a laughed emitted past her lips, few moments passing as scott asked the brunette if she wanted a drink before disappearing into the mass. “fought off any monsters lately?” she asked playfully, mostly to break the ice between them, brow raised upwards with intentional wonder.
As the brunette took notice of his gesture, Stiles swallowed a tight lump down his throat. Flashes of his lips upon the doppelganger’s skin flooded his memory; flooded through his veins. Glancing around quickly, Stiles wasn’t sure if anybody had noticed him in thought. While guilt would’ve normally consumed him by now, especially if his girlfriend were in the room, he was pleasantly numb by the alcohol. ”Me? Leave for good? Pssh.” The male watched as Scott got lost in the sea of people. Since when did they know so many people? In high school, it felt as though their social circle was much smaller. Maybe people just swarmed to the party in hopes of being so drunk the night became a blur.
“Gilbert, you should know me better than that. I’m not usually the one fighting the monsters but rather... observing them from a safe distance.” No matter the time apart, Stiles was surprised how easily bantering with Elena came to him. Perhaps he was trying to find humor in it all so that his mind wouldn’t drive him mad with desires he shouldn’t have been so open to think about. Like just how perfect her smile was or how good her lips looked.
Stiles, you’re drunk. Any girl in this building looks different and appealing. Silently, he scolded himself, though his eyes lingered on the doppelganger. Brows rose high on his forehead then, knitting together momentarily in curiosity. “How about you? Any new big bad we should be worried about?” Drumming his fingers on the keg briefly, a small tilt of his head was given. “And please tell me you came here to at least have one drink? Hm?” Maybe if he reeled her in to bask in the music and the drinking, he wouldn’t feel so vulnerable to what his heart was telling him.
It was strange to get together with his friends during short breaks throughout the academic world. Scott had left Mystic Falls to pursue a degree in medicine so he could then become a veterinarian. Malia had left in hopes of finding her birth mother deemed the Desert Wolf. Isaac, Jackson and Ethan had all gone their separate ways as well. Caroline, Bonnie and Jeremy too. In a sense, Stiles felt as if most of his world had changed, not including the loss of Elena in a romantic sense. Sure, he stayed civil, remained friends and yet somehow his feelings seemed to come to the surface from time to time; void in his heart without her presence.
Thumping of the bass flooded the Salvatore home, his best friend Scott at his side as he’d finally come home for the week. Though it was mostly to see Melissa, Stiles couldn’t help but feel some sort of joy around the wolfy male. Clasping a firm hand on his friend’s shoulder, the alcohol he’d already consumed had intoxicated his mind. Blurring his vision slightly despite a large, opened mouth grin plastered across his features. “See, now you’ve pumped me full of vodka that I just have to continue drinking. That’s the point, right? We all get shit faced and call it a night? Brutal hangover in the morning?” A lighthearted laugh spilled from peach lips, edges curving tightly though he knew Lydia wouldn’t have approved of the scene he was creating around the keg.
Blinking rapidly, when Scott nudged him, Stiles nudged back, continuing to laugh until his whiskey orbs glanced across the room and noticed Elena near the front door. Stiles couldn’t recall the last time he’d really seen her or even spoke to her; gut twisting painfully at the thought. Smile faltering, the brunette knew he should’ve kept himself in check but being drunk, he tended to ignore his gut. “Hey! ‘Lena!” Waving wildly, he wondered if she heard him.
