Hey there! Many people ask us questions, so we decided to sum it all up into little FAQ post. This is about who we are, what do we stand for and why you should try our product.
What is Hyperclap?
Hyperclap is a mobile app that lets you share what you see, do or how you feel in a particular place. You can check what others are up to and what is happening in your city right now.
Why should I try it?
Anywhere you go there is always something happening. It might be a morning coffee at your local Starbucks or a riot on the street. You have a plenty of ways to share it with your friends if you want to. Check-in with a photo? Yes. Upload a photo from a Facebook mobile app? Sure. Tweet it with a geo tag or a hash tag? That's right.
But imagine you come to an interesting place you've never been to. Have you ever wondered what was happening there before you came? Who had been there? What is going to happen in that place in a couple of weeks? Hyperclap lets you follow places you like along with sharing moments with those who followed that place or you. All the posts in a particular place are also displayed in the feed of that place, which makes discovery even easier.
Why should I post something when I can just read?
Well, you shouldn't. But think about people around us posting things they see, like or do in places they visit. It may become a better way to explore your city and find wonderful places you've never been to. Wouldn't you love to be a part of it?
How is this different from Foursquare, Gowalla or other geolocation services?
We want people to be focused on sharing photos and messages with those around them, rather than telling anyone where they are, gaining mayorships and collecting badges. Gaming mechanics is nice, but we believe real life moments to be more important.
Where do you get places from?
Our places are partly taken from Factual Inc. database, partly added by our users all over the world. From our side, we are going to contribute to Factual Inc. database because we support the idea that information about places has to be public, so the other developers could build their products over that data.
Who are you?
We're three developers. Two of us work for Yandex (russian largest search engine) and other one works for NVidia. Hyperclap is the way how we see geosocial services developing, for us it is about modern technologies meeting daily needs of people. We have many ideas about making things better, helping people to connect with each other and with places around. That's what keeps us up coding in the night.
