“I think I hurt myself.”
Dean glanced around the sunset-lit street and spotted the source of the statement. He cocked his head slightly and waited to walk over until after his vision began adjusting to the waning light. He walked over with purpose, but all senses were widely alert on instinct. Dean scoped out the area surrounding the woman as he made his way over, scanning for any signs of danger or hints at what may have happened. “Hey,” he called, “You okay? Need me t’ call someone for ya?”
Juliet nodded. “Been trying to find where I want to call home. Haven’t found it yet,” she explained. She smiled at the offer. “How can I refuse a ride in that?” Her eyes dipped to the impala. It really was a gorgeous car. “If you don’t mind driving me back. I never listened well to the whole ‘don’t get in cars with strangers’ thing anyway.”
Dean grinned widely. A girl who appreciated Baby’s beauty? What a rarity. “’Course,” he joked with her, “Don’t want you running into more people and spraining your other ankle.” He winked and opened the passenger side. “Alright, you’re riding with me, so here’re the house rules. Driver picks the music, shotgun shuts her cakehole. Better hope you like classic rock,” Dean smirked as he walked over to get in on the driver’s side.
