“Two years ago, I met a child here. Patient usually came out for fresh air from a hospital nearby, and she was on a wheelchair. I played with her whenever she came out, but I hadn’t seen her for a while. And 2 months ago, I saw her walking towards me holding her mother’s hand. Right when she saw me, she said, ‘I am all better now because you played with me when I was sick. Thanks!’ I have been working under this costume for 3 years, and that is the most memorable moment.”

“2년 전에 여기서 만난 아이가 있어요. 근처 병원에서 산책을 자주 나왔는데, 휠체어를 타고 있더라고요. 올 때마다 재밌게 놀아줬는데 한동안 안 보였어요. 그런데 2개월 전에 엄마 손을 잡고 그 아이가 걸어서 오더라고요. 만나자마자, 대뜸 저한테 그러더라고요. ‘아플 때 같이 놀아줘서 다 나았어. 고마워!’ 이 인형을 쓰고 일한 게 3년째인데, 그 순간이 가장 기억에 남아요.“

“My dad really hates it when I put on makeup. Even if I just put a little bit of something on my lips, he gets so angry. I still want to put on makeup somehow, even when I feel afraid of my father, so I do my makeup in front of the mirror in the elevator when I’m going to meet somebody. And then when I come back home, I clean it off with cleansing tissues I already hid in the mailbox. But one time, my dad went to work early, so I just went crazy and put on some pretty heavy makeup. I was about to go out after that… But all of a sudden, my dad was riding the elevator back up. I first locked the door of the bathroom, wiped all my makeup off, and pretended to casually go to school. But I was really worried while I was in school. My dad said that if he catches me putting on makeup, he will throw it all away.” “So how did it turn out?”

“아빠가 유독 화장하는 걸 엄청 싫어하세요. 입술에 뭐 조금만 발라도 엄청 화내세요. 아빠 무서운데도 어떻게든 화장을 하고 싶으니까, 약속 있으면 엘리베이터 거울 앞에서 화장하고 들어올 땐 집 우편함에 미리 넣어둔 클렌징 티슈로 지우고 들어가요. 근데 한 번은, 아빠가 출근을 일찍 해서 그 날은 완전 마음 놓고 집에서 화장을 쫙 했어요. 그러고 나가려는데… 아빠가 갑자기 다시 엘리베이터를 타고 올라오신 거예요. 일단 화장실 문 잠그고 화장을 다 지우고 아무렇지도 않은 채 학교 간다고 나왔어요. 근데 학교에 있는 내내 너무 걱정이 되는 거예요. 아빠가 화장하는 거 걸리면 화장품 다 버려버린다고 하셨거든요.” “그래서 어떻게 됐나요?”
