This was really cute. I hadn't heard of this title before being recommended it. Based on the title and description I would have thought this wasn't my thing, but the first ten chapters had nothing to do with what I thought. 😵‍💫

It's not often a title surprises me, but I was very pleasantly surprised by this one.

The MC is fun and I really like her. The Ml is a total simp and that is the type of story I love 😂

I love the main characters dynamic. They didn't behave how I expected so it was really refreshing.

Definitely check it out if you want a story with some unexpected moments.

This is an analysis of chapter 2

We have reached the town!

The town is already depicted as a utopia from the beginning because it is so different from what Jinwoo has been dealing with. But hold on, should Jinwoo remember what he's been dealing with? Is it just his memory of leaving his home? Or does he remember some things?

Guwon is such a dork and flirt at the beginning, I love it. He actually calls himself sexy. I wonder if he just talks himself up often?

We all know Korean is very picky about honorifics, right? In the English translation he says "sir" In Korean he says - 구원 씨 Which means_ "Guwon ssi"

SSI is a suffix used as a polite way to address someone who is not a close acquaintance, similar to "Mr.", "Mrs.", or "Ms." in English.

Let me get convoluted for a second- if you use Google translate on this it says -Mr. Salvation

This makes me want to check every time he says his name and see if he stops using honorifics like Guwon asks or if he starts getting more cute at some point

We are introduced to the dr-

Lim Jicheol Lim= forest," "woods" or "trees."Au Jicheol="Ji" meaning "wisdom" or "intellect" and "Cheol" meaning "iron" or "principle"

I know the DR has gotten some shade in some threads, but I think he will be someone Jinwoo can trust.

I feel like Jinwoo is lying here. A burgler broke in? How did you get bandaged?

I've talked about it in other threads - The town reminds me of either the garden of Eden, or Tartarus. Yes, I know these are very different places, but it's a secluded place where life begins and ends, so I think it fits.

The drawing he makes of the town also has a weird feeling to it. Almost labyrinth like.

Ohhh I missed that they say it resembles a pyramid. We know what pyramids have UNDERNEATH right???

The doc actually says-

표구원 씨가 살고 있습니다

Which looks like it is using honorifics too. So the doc isn't close enough to Guwon to not speak casually.

29 residents Jinwoo makes 30 10 "hounds" as we found out in chapter 19

=40

Let's get into some numerology - 29 =ending 30= journey and growth 10= Divine law 40= very previlant in western religions Generally means transformation

If you have read chapter 19... They no longer have 40...

There are some original residents left. Who are they

One of the names on the paper is Kim Seongtae= Kim=gold Seongtae-succeed Tae=noble

In the prologue the guy in scrubs mentions a Dr Kim

Doc helps Jinwoo out with two pieces of advice

1. Lie and stress your worth

2. Only the worthy get to stay. We all know what happens if you get kicked out ...

Then we are introduced to Gyeongha... Which means bright and beautiful

I think it's interesting they never told him all the rules.

Rule 1 is don't lock your doors. Why?

The scene with Jinwoo and knife is the catalyst for my conspiracy theory that Jinwoo is actually the problem. He's like a sleeper agent right now He also can't remember doing any of this. So I feel he's an unreliable narrator for this story.

Then look at my husband, so happy to just be there This actually does bring up a thought - Guwon doesn't find this weird.

Chapter 1 Analysis [Hounds of Sisyphus]

Backing up and doing a review of each chapter- chapter 1!

Please add your thoughts, theories, opinions! If you feel I'm way off base let me know!

Starting chapter 1 with the episode title! Not all comics on Lezhin give the episodes actual titles, but 945 has grouped the episodes into little sections.

Chapter 1-3 are labeled "light" Light is very often used as a simile or metaphor for good things. "They are the light of my life" And especially how this chapter starts and ends we get this imagery of Guwon being Jinwoo's light, or savior.

In the prologue we were introduced to the characters names and now we get to see what shape Jinwoo is in. Hint- he's not doing good

We've discussed in other threads that he has a head injury. Obviously, if you're going to attack someone you may go for the head as a weak point... But who else is getting a lot of hits right now? The maggots.

So some thoughts on this-

1. Jinwoo was attacked by someone who frequently fights off the maggots

2. Jinwoo was bandaged. Who bandaged him?

Omg the first few panels You get that little glimmer of the "interesting" trope we all make fun of for MLs He has no reason to give Jinwoo a second thought, but he starts actively searching for something to keep him alive.

Guwon talks about needing a good reason to save Jinwoo. I'm curious is this his own code of ethics or because he needs to convince someone else?

Right away we are introduced to the fact Jinwoo can't remember his past. He is clearly in his own home right now though. Was he there the whole time the apocalypse has been going on?

The photo Guwon finds in very noteworthy. The image is old, Jinwoo looks young. Mom is in a wheelchair. Dad's face is obscured by a crack in the glass. We don't get to see what he looks like The crack likely means dad was no a great person.

Anyone else think it's weird that they go on and on about how banged up Jinwoo is... But then he heals really fast??

Guwon can't read. Or he doesn't really remember how.

There really does seem to be something up with the rings.

Omg I missed this dragon fly in this episode! I wasn't planning on talking about it so soon. Dragonflies are symbolic of ". change and change in the perspective of self realization; and the kind of change that has its source in mental and emotional maturity and the understanding of the deeper meaning of life."

This is a changing point in both of their lives. We will see dragonflies several more times.

The next bit does a little more talk about how surprised he is to be alive.

I want to note that the sun rising is symbolic, but how about the fact it took a full day to get to the village from where they were? They went really far to only come back with a few boxes and Jinwoo.

Jinwoo makes a point to think that it's strange this town wasn't affected by the disasters. Natural disasters should have hit everywhere? Unless there's something supernatural going on around there❤❤

That's it, they are definitely in the bad place
