Thank you. I always say that WTFuture is my favorite flavor of tommatt, and it still rings true. You can do so much with the concept, and it's absolutely up to you. Potentially, it's a different level of character development and hurt/comfort, too, which makes it even more exciting.

Hello. I genuinely have no good answer to that 😭 when I got your ask, I've listed some of the artists I enjoy, but it's kind of... incomplete. I have a lot of artists I have enjoyed in the past (they are no longer active), I have a lot that I generally enjoy here, on Tumblr. There are a lot of artists I enjoy occasionally, when I see them on my feed. There is a lot of great EW art exclusively on twitter (sorry, xcom ). To point out only some of those artist out would be incorrect, and to point out everyone would take way too long. So, no, I don't think I have any absolute, all-time favorites, but there's a great deal of EW artists that I enjoy/have enjoyed. You included :)

Thank you! I'm happy to hear that. The canon thing is kinda arguable though 🤔 I mean, we only have that one joke post and saloonatics to prove it. But I can't help but feel like it's the best way to go around things. It just makes sense to me. A bit like small dog/big dog dynamic. Glad that you agree

i've followed u for like the longest time on both ur accounts and I just have to say you inspired me to practice anatomy and gave me the passion to try art again. when i first found ur tomatt art i had long given up drawing but the way you draw such mundane yet soulful art made me want to try drawing again :3 I admire you soo much and look forward to your posts, when i'm having a bad day i always look through your drawings and feel better. i cant wait to draw as good as you someday!!! take care :D!!!

hello!!!! as soon as i read tomska's article about legacy and saw the part about matt being a clone, i thought about you. What do you think of that? does that correlate with your hcs at all?

I don't really like that idea, but I think it could work. It's difficult for me to explain why exactly I don't like it. On one hand, I like the fact that Tomska wanted to point out Matt's mental decline as abnormal – because it was, that's where I totally agree with him. On the other hand, I don't like the new reasoning, because we already have a totally valid explanation – Matt's got blasted with a memory eraser gun. To sum it all up, if I imagine it... just imagine it with me. Zombeh attack-era Matt coming back, all glorious and himself and, like, he's been doing god knows WHAT for YEARS, and he's drawn in that delicious signature Legacy style, and he's like, haha, heya guys, what's up??? Missed me?

Huh.

I'm afraid that would be 1) too much like Tord's return, 2) so good I'd have to scrap all of my own headcanons and move onto this storyline instead. Because it totally changes everything, don't it? A completely different narrative.

Okay. Just a little bit, though. This was supposed to be a tommatt daily blog...

I think I've made it pretty clear that no one in the EW household is normal, and Edd is not an exception to that. His neurodivergence is just a little bit more difficult to pinpoint and label, but it's still there. You could say that he's closer to Tord in his mentality, sharing some traits with Tom, and that's why he gets along with those two quite well. I'd also say that he's the only one who doesn't exhibit any ADHD traits, making him look like he's the most normal one out of the four, but I'd argue with that. He is by far the most dominat one, but also has the lowest IQ (average at best, if not below average). Like Tord, Edd can and will manipulate others, and he has a very low empathy level. He is the definition of unreliable narrator, so it's not a good calling to trust his narrative completely. It's not easy to stress him out, he is generally very stable and adaptive, but when he does get stressed out, he does not manage it well at all and flies off the handle really bad, sometimes slipping into psychotic episodes. He has experienced vivid hallucinations, and he's lowkey schizophrenic, but he is not very aware of that. As far as his sexuality goes, he sticks to traditional views but does not actually have any specific preferences, has very low libido, you could call him asexual/aromantic and would not be entirely wrong. Tord leaving the household has been Edd's biggest falling point, everything in his life kinda went to shit after that and never returned to normal. He kept clutching at Tom and Matt for a while, but it was at their expense and, well, it didn't quite last either, so he ended up alone.

can u tell/write what's going on with post-red army tomatt plezz esp since you said that after matt got brain damage, tom is the one exclusively taking care of him but now it seems like their roles has changed? I'm so curious!!!

Oh! I guess I wasn't clear enough. The timeline for my Matt's mental abilities goes like this:

(child) higher than average, but gets memory lapses due to traumatic events —> (teen) higher than average, rebellious, depression starts —> (young adult 18-23ish) mental abilities unstable: depressed, Tord starts blasting him with experimental memory eraser, relies on Tom's help a lot —> (adult 23-25ish) gets together with Tom, mental abilities stabilize —> (adult 25-27ish) brain damaged by Tord who blasted him with the memory eraser full force, Tom is the caretaker —> (adult 27-28ish) brain fixed by Tord, thinks Tom is dead, too traumatized to act normal —> (adult 28-29ish) joins Edd, reunited with Tom, still too traumatized, but recovers a little, unfortunately Tom gets really ill —> (adult 29-35ish) joins Tord to save Tom, both went through shit, Matt's mental state us unstable, often slips into feral or catatonic states, which naturally affects mentality —> (adult 35-36ish) gets a grip, mental state stabilizes, sharp mind, Tom's perfect assistant —> (adult 36-37ish) remains locked in, takes care of Tom because Tom is blind and doesn't want a visor (because he, in turn, doesn't want to aggravate Matt with it) —> (adult past 37ish...) Tom gets a visor, still take us off a lot but does not require a caretaker, both stabilize, Matt gets more relaxed with time, and since he's finally happy and allowed to properly self-actualize, his mental abilities also get better

I love your well thought out eddsworld and tommatt story building of their characters and the world around them. can you give more that you love/always think about ?

Thank you, I'm glad to hear that. As for your request, hmm... it's very abstract. I have a lot I love and always think about, even in terms of tommatt. But I have this one imaginary scenario which is not very feasible, like I would probably definitely not utilitate it in any way, but I still enjoy thinking about.

I really like the concept of multiverse. But not in the grand "very different AU" sense, but in a "cluster of similar but slightly different universes making up a shape" kinda sense. Like they are generally the same people, and this is a multiple choice kind of game. So, when I build up a storyline, it's about this one particular universe with a particular set of decisions, and I wanted to it to be uniquely fucked up even within its own cluster, but I do actually like to think about my cluster of "tommatt what-ifs" as a whole. Does that make sense?

Like I sometimes imagine an endless white space filled with various Toms and Matts from this cluster, and I get a kick out of imagining how they'd figure out which one is which and how they'd interact with each other. I usually imagine them trying to figure out where's their respective Tom/Matt, figuring out statistics and dividing into camps against each other, with a lot of arguing/defending/accusations. For example, they figured out that around 60% of them "got together" on the couch, and it makes perfect sense to everyone (even the ones who didn't end up getting together on the couch), but when it comes to figuring out what "getting together" actually implies, all shit breaks loose because for some of them, "getting together" means confessing, for some it means getting mildly physical (kissing, cuddling), and for some it means getting outright sexual. The prudes are yelling at the ones who had sex for being inappropriate, the ones who had sex get annoyed/embarrassed and yell at the ones who didn't for being stuck up assholes, the snugglers are stuck in-between, can't give proper answer on how come they aren't aligned with any of the party, end up getting yelled at by both. There's also a group of Toms and Matts who haven't gotten together yet, and the whole event is deeply embarrassing for them (they get yelled at, too). There's also that one Tom who, when pushed, reluctantly admits that he's alone, because his Matt died. He ends up being paired with a Matt who steps out and admits that his Tom also died. And so on.

It's not feasible, like how and why would they all be put in the same space? As a protection? As an experiment? What kind of space is it, even? Is it real, or a simulation?

So, yeah. Just a thing I like to imagine. Like a sandbox.

Hello!! What do you think of the idea of Tom being the one to hurt Matt and break his jaw?

I always liked to imagine that before Tom had the visors shoved up his face, he formed into a monster to attack Red Leader, but accidentally hurt Matt in the process, scratching and breaking his jaw, only for Tom to feel very guilty about it ehehahe

If you do it see it happening like that, i'd love to see you illustrate it or give your own perspective on it!! I love your art so much and the way you portray TomMatt! Keep going with the art <3

I think it's a great idea that makes a ton of sense! Unfortunately, I slept on it, haha, so the way and the reason I imagined Matt losing his eye and injuring his jaw are kinda... lame. Like, it would have made much more sense for his jaw to be completely mauled and replaced by metal, or, on the contrary, for the metal thing to be just an accessory, but I went for the something-in-between kinda deal and it's neither this, not that. Like, his jaw IS damaged, but it's superficial and he doesn't really need or want that metal insert, it's just a torture device, made to accentuate his square chin among other things.

*sigh* My Matt actually lost his eye and injured his jaw because he was brain-damaged, kept captive by Tord and was already starting to forget things. Which made him psychotic, because he was REALLY trying not to forget, and he had these like... brief descriptions of Tom tattooed in-between the fingers of his hand, so he was trying to make his own face resemble Tom's. He was halfway done when they took the spoon away from him. So, yeah, my Matt has done it to himself, which is not that surprising. When he joined the Red army, they had the words on his fingers tattooed over with black rectangles (which I always forget to draw). I'll be honest, I'm not happy with that idea, but I've sat on it for too long to change it completely.

I think this has already happened with several headcanons I've encountered, where I saw an idea and went "darn, that WOULD have made much more sense if I've used that!!!", but there's already a stack of headcanons on top of each other in connection to that one stupid thing, so I can't just cut it out. With the way I imagined things, the monster version of Tom would never hurt Matt. Not because it has Tom's consciousness or because it's kind or whatever, but because it recognizes Matt, acutely and specifically.
