We Should Be Afraid
@samhain-of-halloween
Cas stared at himself in the mirror. āWell⦠this all seems terrible.ā He turned around to face Daniel. āI donāt even look like a vampire bat. You just smothered my face in red and Iām drooling with these dumb teeth in. Why couldnāt I just go as a bee again?ā
āBecause a bee isnāt scary, Cas.ā
āIt is if youāre allergic to them.ā
āListen, buddy.ā Daniel clapped his shoulder and turned him around to usher him from the room and into the hall. āYouāre going to be just fine. No running away this year.ā He teased. āAt least try to meet someone this time, I donāt think I can handle another story about the fake guy in the closet who went and got pizza with you that one halloween.ā
āFor the last time, he was real! His name was Sam⦠he was real.ā
An hour later the party was in full swing and Cas was once again, miserable. He didnāt recognize anyone, not by face or voice.
He kept the vampire teeth in his vest pocket, not willing to drool on himself or strangers anymore, the red blood capsules heād bitten earlier were still wet and dripping lines down his face and costume. Heād taken the giant bowl of candy with him into the closet, sitting cross legged on the floor. It was a good hideaway to watch scary movies on his phone unnoticed- at least until the door opened to music and a random man just staring down at him. He didnāt have time to stifle the shriek that came from him and his face was so hot with embarrassment he didnāt bother moving. He couldnāt tell if the guy thought he was a decoration or not so he raised the bowl up to him. He smiled up at him through embarrassment. āTrick or treatā he answered the stare and waited for the man to either take some candy or shut the door on him so he could enjoy his movie in isolation.
