Itinerary for Tuesday, October 27, 2020 -Candy Making 101: Join us for a workshop of the sweetest proportions! Learn to make homemade versions of your favorite Halloween candies and treats! All materials provided, simply bring your sweet tooth and your desire to learn! Hosted by Artie Abrams and Janelle St. James ( @artiesubabrams and @switchjanellestjames). Workshop will take place in the Kitchens, and will run from 5 PM- 6:30 PM. -S’mores Galore: This sweet event will tickle the taste buds of every individual! Join us in the courtyard for a bonfire and s’mores bar! Customize your treats to your liking, and enjoy socializing with staff and peers alike! Hosted by James Moore and Emerson Crawford ( @jamesmoore and @emersoncrawford). Bonfire and s’mores making will take place in the Courtyard, and will begin at 7 PM. Event will run through the end of tonight’s Movie Event. - Movie Event: Tonight’s showing will bring the nostalgia and fun back to Halloween! Itinerary for Wednesday, October 28, 2020 -Halloween Through the Ages: This informative workshop will take an in-depth look at some of the most popular costumes and styles Halloween has offered through the decades! Perhaps even draw inspiration for your own costumes this year! Hosted by James Moore ( @jamesmoore). Lecture will run from 5 PM- 6 PM in Conference Room B. -Cider Making 101: Learn the easiest, simplest, and most decadent methods of making your own Apple Cider this season! All materials will be provided! Don’t forget to come armed with ideas, all creativity is encouraged in the cider making! Hosted by Artie Abrams and Dorsey Rose ( @artiesubabrams and @subdorseyrose). Workshop will take place in the Kitchens, and will run from 6:30 PM- 8 PM. -Movie Event: Join us in the courtyard to take in this Halloween terror, sure to entice the thrill-seeker in all of us! Tonight’s screening will be of Adam Robitel’s 2019 Escape Room. Movie will begin at 8:15 PM in the Courtyard.

Held in the Kitchens -6 PM: Scary Selves Dance- Come dressed in the scariest costume you can muster for this dancing event! Itinerary for Monday, October 26, 2020 -Thriller Nights: Join us with those dancing shoes on, and learn to dance some of the most well-known spooky dances including but not limited to Thriller and Time Warp! Hosted by Nick Duval and Genevieve Sterling ( @duvaldomnick and @switchgigisterling). Dancing will take place in Dance Studio 1 and will run from 4 PM- 5:30 PM -Skeletons in the Closet: Bring your Anatomy Game and build your own, anatomically correct skeleton decorations to post in your rooms, outside your doors, or even to use as part of your costumes! Hosted by Lorelai Reilly and Stacey Evans ( @lorelayinginthesun and @nursestaceyevans). Skeleton building will take place in Conference Room B and will run from 6 PM- 7:30 PM -Cute as Candy Dance: Come one and come all for the cutest little dance this side of the Mississippi! Come dressed in the cutest, fuzziest, sweetest costume you can, and dance the night away! Refreshments will be provided, and prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Costume Contest winners!

Also, today the Door Decoration Competition will begin! Residents and Staff are encouraged to decorate the doors to their suites, in anything related to Fall or Halloween! Bring your creativity and your best design ideas! Judging will begin tomorrow afternoon at 5 PM, so make sure you have your name, suite number, and theme submitted to myself, Miss Shangela, Ellis Anderson, or Stacey Evans no later than 4 PM tomorrow if you wish to participate in the competition. Prizes will be awarded to First, Second, and Third place winners. See Ellis or Stacey for decoration materials to check out from the Art Studio! And, don’t forget that even if you do not wish to compete, you are still more than welcome to make use of the provided materials if you’d like to decorate your door!

Iiiiiiiittttttttt’ssssss Friday lovelies, and Mama is thrilled. We’ve got a fun-filled weekend for you, followed by a mind-boggling week full of tricks, treats, and everything in-between, all leading up to our big Halloween event! So, from now through Halloween, things will be working just a little differently my sugarplums! Not to fret and not to worry, however, because I am here to explain everything. 

Now, I know that for the past couple of weeks, we’ve been hosting a couple of events per night, plus the movie nights. And things have been fabulous! So, from here on out, we will simply be building upon that! What does this mean? It means that while I will still be releasing daily itineraries, there will be other, more long-running and consistent festival activities occurring throughout next week. Sound confusing? Allow me to further clarify. Basically, y’all, we’re having ourselves a full-fledged, week-long festival!

What will this festival consist of, you might ask? Well, strap on in friends, because you’re about to find out! All this week, from now until Sunday, there will be events running nightly in both the gymnasium, the conference rooms, and the courtyard. In each of these locations, you’ll find daily games, booths, and activities for your enjoyment and participation! And, of course, you’ll still have the opportunity to attend those gorgeous movies and workshops we’ve been holding! Now remember, anyone interested in hosting an activity or a booth during the festival, staff or otherwise, is more than welcome to reach out to myself and/or Miss Shangela at any time! But, at this point, I do believe I’ve said enough on that particular topic.

Before I wrap things up and move on to that itinerary, a couple more quick things to mention! Next weekend, for Friday’s double feature, we will be screening Jim Sharman’s 1975 cult classic Rocky Horror Picture Show! As everyone knows, no Halloween screening of this groundbreaking musical is complete without a shadowcast to perform alongside it! So, ANYONE interested in performing, please see Ms. Janelle St. James ( @switchjanellestjames) IMMEDIATELY to receive a part! Finally, don’t forget to pull together those costumes mentioned in a previous post (cute, scary, sexy, and masquerade) to compete in the upcoming costume contests! Itinerary for Friday, October 23, 2020 -The Solstice: A History of Celebration: Join us for a night of bread making and learning in this two-for-one Solstice experience! Learn about the three traditional Solstice Celebrations while honing in on a tradition held within the first Autumn Solstice festival- bread making! This workshop will include looks at the Pagan-rooted celebrations of Lammas, Mabon, and Samhain, all found on the Pagan Wheel of the Year! Workshop will take place in the Kitchens, and will run from 5:00 PM- 6:30 PM. Hosted by James Moore and Artie Abrams ( @jamesmoore and @artiesubabrams).  -Costuming 101: Attend this colorful and creative workshop to learn more about designing and creating the perfect costume for this year’s celebrations! All materials will be provided, but be sure to come equipped with ideas for what you’d like your costume to be! Workshop will take place from 7:00 PM- 8:30 PM in Conference Room B. Hosted by Ellis Anderson and Kurt Hummel ( @ellisanderson and @kehfashion). -Movie Event: Double Feature: Join us for tonight’s spooktastic double feature! As always, refreshments will be provided, though be sure to bring your own pillows, blankets, and anything else you’ll need to enjoy these flicks! Tonight’s showings will be sure to thrill and impress! We’ll be showing Andy Muschietti’s 2017&2019 films IT and IT Chapter 2. Films will begin at 8:45 PM in the Courtyard! Hosted by Oliver Bray and Cooper Anderson ( @counselorolliebray and @dominanthollywoodcooper).

While the above activities are running, events will also be taking place in the gymnasium and in conference room A. In the gym you will find a HALLOWEEN CAKE WALK ( @switchjanellestjames), A HALLOWEEN THEMED PHOTOBOOTH complete with a variety of backdrops and props to enjoy ( @ambroseabrams), BOBBING FOR APPLES ( @daltonstevie and @emersoncrawford​), A FACE PAINTING STATION ( @ellisanderson and @campbellrclarington), A HALLOWEEN CRAFT CORNER ( @nursestaceyevans​), PIN THE ORGAN ON THE CADAVER ( @lorelayinginthesun​), and HALLOWEEN CORNHOLE ( @dominant-dylan​).  In conference room A you will find A SPOOKY, CREEPY, CRAWLY MINI-MAZE ( @subfranniefabray​ and @judehudson​). Don’t forget to stop by the kitchens either, where you’ll find a CHILI BAR (serving beef-based chili as well as white chicken chili and vegan chili), A CANDY APPLE BAR, A POPCORN BAR, AND A SPOOKY BEVERAGE BAR! New games will be added to the festival daily, as well as several contests and events for everyone to participate in and enjoy! I really cannot believe that Halloween itself is just right around the corner. This year’s Fall Festival has been so incredible, thanks to each and every one of you! I know I say this frequently, but Mama wants to remind you all that without all of you, the Sanctuary would be nothing but a big, empty building. Itinerary for Thursday, October 23, 2020 -Party Planning 101: This one-of-a-kind workshop is sure to leave you all inspired, entranced, and just a little more organized when it comes to planning your events, like those ghoul-tastic Halloween parties we all love so much! Spend the hour learning decorating tips and tricks, discussing various recipes for hair-raising treats, beverages, and even entrees for your guests, as well as the science behind creating the perfect playlist for a screaming good time! Workshop will take place from 5:30 PM- 6:30 PM in Classroom 122A. Hosted by Jackie Pillsbury and Lorelai Reilly ( @jackiepillsbury and @lorelayinginthesun) -Mask Making 101: You’ve (hopefully) taken the time to learn all about the history behind the various types of Halloween masks. Now, it’s your chance to make one of your own! Join us for this super fun and marvelously creative workshop, in which you’ll be encouraged and invited to create and decorate your own unique Halloween masks! All materials will be provided, simply bring yourselves and any inspiration you’d like to draw from! Workshop will take place from 7:00 PM- 8:30 PM in the Art Studio. Hosted by Ellis Anderson and Stacey Evans ( @ellisanderson and @nursestaceyevans) -Movie Event: Tonight’s flick is another chilling one, so be sure to prepare for the scares! Alyssa: Well hello hello Mr. Clarington! Long time no talk, which is my fault entirely. But, that does not mean I have not been keeping an eye on you! I am, however, working on getting things back on track which means here comes the big question- how are things going? How are you doing?

Alyssa: Don't think I've forgotten the last question you asked me, either. I've been reviewing a few things before answering. However, the real and true answer is this: beginning that process is technically up to you. That does not mean the entirety of the determination will be left in your hands, however, if you do wish to receive your completion certificate. The process is this: once you feel you are ready, that you've learned and gained all you can from the Sanctuary, that you've worked through all you needed and that you can comfortably return to society fully, ready to handle a claim, you submit an application. This will be submitted to either myself, Miss Shangela, or the Director. This application is essentially an essay, the length of which is left to your choosing. In this essay, you will discuss your time here at Dalton, what you've learned and gained, how you've progressed and changed in your own words. You should discuss your club and class participation as well. Once you've made your case, and said all you feel you can and should say, your essay as well as your file here at the Sanctuary will be reviewed. The review will involve speaking with your counselor (me), your teachers, and your club captains. The review board (consisting of myself, Shangela, the Director, each member of our counseling staff, and Miss Emma Pillsbury) will spend anywhere from three days to a week reviewing your file and performance, and will make the determination.

Alyssa: For future reference, or reference at all should you ever be interested, this process is very, very similar to the process for gaining a Claim. The application for that process is still an essay, though it obviously focuses on different topics.

Itinerary for Wednesday, October 21, 2020 -Ohio Society for BigFoot Investigation: Join us for a riveting presentation covering the history of the BigFoot legend, sightings and areas of investigation here in Ohio, and a Q&A with the state’s premier investigative team! Presentation will run from 5 PM- 6 PM in the Auditorium. Hosted by Dylan Puckerman and Dorsey Rose ( @dominant-dylan and @subdorseyrose) -Scared Silly: The Art of Writing: Get ready to unlock your creativity in this hair-raising workshop! Learn all the best tips, tricks, and techniques to writing the scariest, most terrifying stories! Notebooks and writing utensils will be provided, but feel free to bring your own laptops if you’d prefer. Workshop will run from 6:30 PM- 8 PM in Classroom 121A. Hosted by Campbell Clarington ( @campbellrclarington) -Halloween Movie Event: Tonight’s feature film is sure to bring back all those warm fuzzy feelings! We’re stepping away from the nightmarish horror and stepping back in time, and into our childhoods. Remember, all refreshments will be provided, just bring yourselves and anything you need to be comfortable for the movie! Tonight, we will be screening Bill Melendez’ 1966 It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown! As charlie brown is only 25 minutes long, we will be showing Brad Siberling’s 1995 family movie, Casper directly after!

You have all been doing so well, I’m just as impressed as can be with all the participation we’ve been seeing in all the magnificent activities we’ve hosted. You know Mama is coming in hot this morning with today’s itinerary. Can’t wait to see each of you participating!

Itinerary for Tuesday, October 20, 2020 -Halloween BINGO: Join us for a spooktastic, Halloween themed BINGO game. Refreshments will be provided, and each winner will receive an awesome prize! BINGO will take place in Conference Room B from 5 PM- 6 PM. Hosted by Emerson Crawford and Jude Hudson ( @emersoncrawford and @judehudson) -Supernatural Secrets: Come and enjoy one heck of a presentation that is sure to get your blood pumping and your imagination flowing. Showcasing any and every monster, devil, and scary looking thing your mind could think up, learn all about the legends and histories of your favorite monsters under the bed. Presentation will take place in Classroom 122A from 6:30 PM- 8 PM. Hosted by James Moore ( @jamesmoore) -Halloween Movie Event: Tonight’s flick will be sure to chill and thrill! Snacks and beverages will be provided! Plan to dress for the weather, and bring your own pillows and blankets. We will be viewing James Wan’s 2013 film The Conjuring. Whew, after a couple of crazy days, Mama is doing her best to get caught up here. I hope you all enjoyed the Decades Dance, as well as all the awesome activities, games, and prizes! We will be announcing the winners of the Costume Contest later today! Special thanks to Ellis Anderson ( @ellisanderson) for running the Face Painting booth at the dance, as well as to Janelle St. James and Artie Abrams ( @switchjanellestjames​ and @artiesubabrams​) for taking care of the evening’s themed beverages, foods, and snacks! 

And, last night’s Double Feature was one we just knew everyone could enjoy. Thank you to those of us who joined us for 1998′s Halloweentown and 1993′s Hocus Pocus. Miss Shangela and I truly do enjoy seeing all of your lovely, beautiful faces at the Sanctuary events! Now, in an attempt to get ahead of the game so-to-speak, I’m going to go ahead and post the itinerary for this evening! Itinerary for Monday, October 19, 2020 -Spooky Sweet: A Baking Workshop: Join this fun-filled workshop that is sure to cater to everyone’s sweet tooth! Spend time making Halloween shaped and themed sweet treats, from cookies to cupcakes and anything in between. All materials will be provided. Workshop takes place in the Kitchens from 5 PM- 6:30 PM. Hosted by Artie Abrams ( @artiesubabrams​) -Meet the Hunters: Everyone is in for a treat this evening, as well-known local Paranormal Investigators join us for an evening that is sure to get chilling! These Investigators will be discussing some of their toughest cases, sharing stories of their experiences with some of the most haunted locations in America, and discussing what exactly goes into Ghost Hunting, from the emotional and physical demands to the equipment worked with. Those attending will have the opportunity for a Q&A with the team at the end of the presentation. Presentation will take place in the Auditorium from 7 PM- 8 PM. Hosted by Miss Shangela and myself! ( @iamshangela​) -Halloween Movie Event: Join us for a film that is sure to get that blood pumping and those chills going! Tonight, we will be viewing John Carpenter’s 1978 film Halloween. Come learn about the history and origins of the tradition of mask-wearing on Halloween! Workshop will take place from 5 PM- 6 PM in Classroom 121A. Hosted by James Moore ( @jamesmoore) -Pumpkin Carving 101: Interested in making your own spooky, cooky decorations this year, but have no idea where to start? Join this fun-filled workshop to learn the best and safest tips and tricks, as well as a few basic carvings to get you started! Workshop will take place from 6:30 PM- 7:30 PM in the Kitchens. Hosted by Ellis Anderson ( @ellisanderson) -Halloween Movie Event- Double Feature!: Join us for our first movie double-feature! Tonight’s frights include one family-friendly, and one that’s sure to bring the terror! Tim Burton’s 1988 Beetlejuice will begin at 8:30 PM, while Scott Derrickson’s 2012 Sinister will begin at 10:30 PM. There will be a 30-minute intermission between films. Snacks will be provided. Now, before I end this lovely announcement, I want to go ahead and let everyone know about our event for tomorrow night. Every Saturday night, from now until the end of the month, we will be hosting campus-wide dances. These dances will be decades themed, and will include music, popular treats, and a costume contest centered around costumes from over the decades! So, come dressed in your favorite groovy, swinging, hopping outfits from all across history! The Costume Contest will include various prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, and anyone who shows up in costume will add 3 points to their point totals. Hosted by Janelle St. James ( @switchjanellestjames​) -Fall Frame Decorating: This relaxing and fun-filled workshop is sure to bring out the creative kid in everyone! Spend an hour creating and decorating your own fall-inspired picture frames! All frames and decorations provided! Workshop will run from 7 PM- 8 PM in the Art Studio. Hosted by Stacey Evans ( @nursestaceyevans​) -Halloween Movie Event: Beginning tonight, we will be hosting Halloween Movie Nights each evening in the courtyard. During the week, we will show only one movie per night. However, Fridays and Saturdays will be double features! Some of the movies will be scary/horror, however there will be shows for everyone! Tonight, we will be kicking things off with a screening of the original, 1980 Friday the 13th. Popcorn, drinks, and other snacks provided. Movie begins at 8:30 PM in the Courtyard. Whew! What a week! However, I cannot say it was not well deserved for everyone! Of course, getting back to reality can always be a bit depressing, however, I do believe Miss Shangela and myself have concocted the perfect vaccine to fight against those post-vacation blues! As we all know, we have entered spooky season! Now, I don’t know about all you devils out there, but Halloween and, really, the entire month of October, are just my favorite times of year! And of course, y’all know Mama is always looking for a reason to get her celebration on! So, I’ll just spit it right on out, so everyone can go about their evenings as planned. 

Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 14, 2020 will mark the start of our Spooky Season Festivities here at the Sanctuary! We will be holding a Fall Festival, lasting for the remainder of this month, jam packed with fun, fright, and a whole lot of activities to keep all you guys and ghouls on your toes! These activities will also provide added opportunities for everyone to meet, greet, and interact with your fellow residents, and staff! As with the Beach Trip, I’ll be posting daily itineraries, detailing the activities available for each day! Please remember to plan accordingly. And, don’t forget that participation in activities at the Fall Festival will add to your points totals, so make sure to document which activities you participate in! So that everyone is able to begin planning, I’ll take the liberty of posting the Festival Itinerary for tomorrow down below! As always, anyone with questions is always welcome to reach out! 

Fall Festival Itinerary for Wednesday, October 14, 2020 -Pick-A-Pumpkin: For the duration of the Festival, we have arranged for a local farmer to supply us with a wide variety of colors, shapes, and sizes of pumpkins for everyone to pick from! The ‘Pumpkin Patch’ will be open every day from noon-7 PM in the Courtyard. Feel free to stop in any time, and pick yourselves a pumpkin or two!  -Face Painting 101: This 90-minute session will be a treat for anyone interested in getting their spooky makeup looks on this season! Learn all the tips, tricks, and techniques you’ll need to make your Halloween look a success this year! Class will run 5 PM- 6:30 PM in the Art Studio. Hosted by Ellis Anderson ( @ellisanderson​) -Halloween: A History: This 60-minute session will interest anyone wishing to learn the origins of the Halloween Holiday, as well as how it has evolved over the years. Covering everything from cultural interpretations to various beliefs and celebrations surrounding the holiday, this is sure to excite the historian in all of us! Class will run from 7 PM- 8 PM in Classroom 121A. Hosted by James Moore ( @jamesmoore​)

Good morning, good morning, good morning to you all! As heartbreaking as this is, the time has come to return to our lovely Sanctuary. I do genuinely hope each of you wonderful darlings has enjoyed our little ‘family vacation’. I myself feel incredibly blessed to have had the opportunity to have this experience, especially with all of you. Thank you all for joining Miss Shangela and myself, and for making this past week as incredible as it was. Today’s itinerary will be a bit different, as I will be detailing today’s travel schedule. Also, you should all be on the lookout for an announcement later today as well! Things at the Sanctuary have not stopped just because we’ve been away, so there are several things you’ll all need to be aware of upon our return! Until then, my darling daisies, everyone stay safe, sane, and enjoy your travels. 

Itinerary for Tuesday, October 13, 2020 -Buses for the airport will arrive at 10 AM. This means you will need to be ready and waiting for their arrival. I would suggest waking and packing early, as all meals and check-out procedures will need to be completed no later than 9:45 AM. -Flight from Key West, FL will leave at 12 PM. This will be just over a 4-hour flight. -Arrival back at Dalton Sanctuary is projected for 4:45 PM. 

Remember, darlings, you are responsible for all personal items and pieces of luggage you brought! Make sure you have everything you came with, and everything you wanted to come back with! And, make sure you leave those cabins as close to the state you found them in as possible. The last thing that we want is anyone leaving a bad impression!
