"My short time in Nigeria has left me questioning and wondering about many things and at the same time has left me wanting more. Wanting to listen carefully to what God is calling me to do. What God is calling us as a church to be. I have been back in the states for almost three weeks and not a second goes by that am not thinking about my friends, my brothers and sisters, in Nigeria. God brought us together for a reason. To work together, fellowship together, learn together and grow together. Relationships were created that know no boundaries. This is what I believe God calls us to do each and every day."
I wrote these words when I first had the opportunity to travel to Nigeria, and now, almost a decade later, as I prepare to travel back to Nigeria, I find that I still have the same questions, the same hopes for the church that I love and the country that has kept a piece of my heart all these years.
And now for the details on my upcoming trip:
WHO: A small group of Church of the Brethren participants from across the country
WHAT: Workcamp through the Global Mission Office
WHERE: Various locations in Nigeria
WHY: To help rebuild churches, repair church facilities, to worship and pray in fellowship with the Nigerian Brethren and to encourage people as they recover.
Prayer will be incredibly important during this time, both for both for my group, as well as those who will be working with us and hosting us. So that is what you can do at this time. Please pray. Pray for safety and health, for the joys and sorrows that will be shared among Brothers and Sisters in Christ, and for continued relationships that know no boundaries.
Many thanks, blessings and love.
