So after hopping to 5 drive-thru / trunk a treat events, all of which were doing an awesome job of social distancing, mask wearing in sanitizing, we have our final candy count!!! 483 pieces of candy and 22 mini toys, coloring sheets and other odds and ends! In the wake of #Zeta we rise to a storm ravaged neighborhood. The sound of chainsaws hum in the distance, birds chirp from the limb of the huge oak tree that has fallen in our neighbor's yard across the street. Thankfully it fell across their driveway missing the house. Our power is out with an estimated repair time of 24 hours, however education must go on. Today we at Barack H. Obama Elementary Magnet School of Technology are continuing our Red ribbon week however today we're adding a little white to our red and turning it pink! Today we are wearing pink to join the fight against breast cancer. In reality one in eight women in the United States can expect to develop breast cancer over the course of an entire lifetime. That is why it is so very important to get a mammogram! I had my own personal scare with The big C back in 2016 and I know how very important it is for these annual physicals. Rose and I would like to encourage everyone to get their annual physicals and women, especially, please make sure to get your mammogram every three years!
