We had the pleasure of getting to train with one of the greatest to ever do it. Damian actually started Jiu Jitsu with my Professor, Fabio Araujo, and trained with him until his blue belt. Heâs was so thrilled to come back to where it all started and do a seminar for his first teacher and all of his students. Truly one of the kindest people Iâve ever met. Grateful for this discipline. Oss.

Afterthoughts following todayâs float tank session: As I lay there floating through, what seemed to be, infinite space, I feel nothing. My mind has settled and not a single thought stirred. None of my senses burdened by the often unbearable weight of reality - the loud, rushing, angry, impatient traffic. The audible grinding of each person attempting to climb to the top of their own individualized mountains. None of that; lightless, scentless, freely floating forever-ness. I lay there peering past the veil that melts over us each morning we wake, fully at peace. Weightless. When suddenly but not unexpectedly, I feel an itch on my face. Faced with the question of whether or not to take care of this dilemma, I decide that I wonât give in to the sense of urgency to bring relief to myself. Instead, I endure the moment of uncomfortable torment my mind has inflicted upon my own flesh. Without warning the moment passed and It didnât return but it did break my streak of internal silence which revealed to me a simple truth. Much of lifeâs anguish is simply an itch that will come to pass. Sometimes things can be so safe and so still that we unconsciously prod the world around us to seek some type of feedback - doesnât matter if itâs negative or positive, for most people they just want some type of feedback to pull them out of autopilot even if for just a moment. If youâre going through something...hang in there. It will pass. Youâll be stronger on the other side. Keep climbing that mountain friend but donât forget to stop every once in a while and experience the view. Whether that view is literally 5,000 feet above sea level or you close your eyes and utilize your imagination. Hang in there.

Wouldnât it be nice if inspiration and motivation were something we could just boot up like a computer at the start of each day? Unfortunately it doesnât work that way. What Iâve found is that having discipline to stick to a regimen or at the very least having an âIâm gonna train for 30 mins every dayâ no matter how intense speech with yourself helps keep you on track. Youâre not gonna wanna do it sometimes, sometimes youâre gonna feel like a beast and like you can run through walls but the reality is youâre fighting against gravity here and weâre all losing that fight. Physical and mental gravity is crushing us every day and youâve gotta decide day in and day out... lay down and die, or keep fighting. And you better keep fighting.
