Roent, in an act of coldness, turned his chair away and pressed a button on the computer to presumably do work. He paused for a moment, sighing, “Barry, if you wish..my office or lab is always open to you. Feel free to stop by any time.” He didn’t turn to face him as he spoke, instead seeming to become absorbed with what was on the computer, other patients brain scans, data, etc. Tomorrow an experiment would take place, two key patients were going to come in, and he was going to tear into their minds..just to see what happens. A purely scientific endeavor of course, how else was he going to learn to control it, and its limits?
Barry nodded at the half-hearted attempt to at least be civil, even if Roent had gotten bored with feigning sincere affinity toward him for the moment. He understood what was happening, even if the why of it all evaded him. He was probably stressed now that Barry had outstayed his welcome and put him behind on his day’s work. “Let me know if you think of any ore tests you might want to run now you’ve used your abilities on me” he offered. When he realized he didn’t have any of the other’s attention anymore, he finally walked away.
