@iamtytoalba
the girl of my dreams
"por mi raza de bronce hablará el espĂritu santo"
-José Vasconcelos
THIS GENERATION WAS THE FIRST TO BE RAISED ONLINE (and it fucking sucked)
-Google taught me how easy it is to get free porn
-Tumblr taught me to be friends with total strangers (who are likely just as autistic as me) who just so happen to like the same shit that i do so i can distract myself from the fact that i live in a city controlled by the cartel (i’m from Culiacán, bella tierra de ensueño)
-Youtube taught me that we live in a corporatocracy (unskippable ads, Al slop and content farms galore)
-Vine taught me that other people’s pain is funny (remember those “funny” fall compilations?)
-Deviantart taught me to goon to my childhood
-Blogger didn’t teach me shit, what the fuck is Blogger?
-Facebook reminded me how much i fucking hate the people i know
-Instagram taught me to filter… it also taught me the n word
-Etsy taught me that turning your passion into a business often just means becoming a full-time shipping clerk and SEO manager
-Twitter taught me that the only two types of people in the internet are people who post stupid stuff and people who take it seriously
-Reddit taught me to be a fucking idiot and to laugh at the unfunniest memes of all time
-X taught me that Hitler was cool i guess
-TikTok fried my dopamine receptors, it also taught me how insensitive people are, because TikTok users are so irony poisoned yet extremely unfunny which is amazing, but not in a good way
-character.ai taught me that pretending to talk to a fictional character was the best thing ever and guilt-tripped me when i finally deleted my account (you know, the “you’ll lose everything, Characters associated to your account, chats, the love that we shared, likes, messages, posts, and the memories we have together.” message you get before you confirm your username to delete the account)
-Threads taught me that history doesn’t repeat itself but it often rhymes (it’s just as deserted as Google+ was back in the day)
-Bluesky taught me that that society becomes stagnant when nothing’s new and that groupthink can really ruin good things (it’s a left-wing echo chamber in the same sense that X is a right-wing echo chamber)
-4Chan taught me that you shouldn’t believe everything read or take your values from the internet
and i wouldn’t want it any other way, i’m just that cynical
saw this on pinterest but i think it belongs here too
