The words came out, punctuated by the shakes he’s being given, as Ian reached up to grab at Blackfire’s wrist, green eyes narrowed. “Now. Get. Off!” He shoved forward, attempting to push her away as best he could, knowing that if she really didn’t want to move this wouldn’t do a whole lot. Still, he couldn’t just not put up a fight. “I mean it, damn you!”

“Y’know, vampirism....it ain’t all it’s cracked up to be. Bunch of snotnoses in charge, too many politics to go around. You do one thing, oh, you’re in trouble, you do something else and you’ve angered this person, try to make it right and you’ve insulted a whole Clan. It’s ridiculous.”

He sighed, shifting his arms behind him so he could lean his weight back on his hands, staring up at the night sky. From far below the sounds of the city echoed: car horns, yelling, music, human noises that seemed so very loud to him nowadays. Ian felt a certain sense of nostalgia for it all, though -- even though he could make the same noises if he chose, nothing about him would ever be human again, thanks to one bad walk in an alleyway. “If I had to do it all again, I wouldn’t have walked home that night. I woulda taken that stupid taxi, even if I barely had the money to cover it. Might sound stupid to say it now, but I never wanted this. Bein’ alone, adrift in a world that isn’t ever really gonna feel like mine? I never would’ve wanted that.”

One of his legs shifts, bending at the knee to pull close to his chest as he closes his eyes. “I would’ve wanted it to be someone, anyone else, if I had a choice in it. Don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty of perks to being a vampire, and the Brujah ain’t all bad, despite their reputation, but if I was gonna be one I would’ve wanted it to be my choice. My choice to take it and become a vampire if I wanted, or my choice to become a ghoul even. Or hell, my choice not to take it at all. But I didn’t get that. You, though. You’ve got a choice here. And while I can’t say you’d be makin’ the wrong one, choosing this life, I won’t say you’re makin’ the right one, either. Things can be fucked up in the world of the Kindred, sometimes even more than you’d think. If you think Gotham’s bad now, wait until you see its real underbelly. It’s the stuff of nightmares sometimes.” His opened his eyes, turning his head to the left as he flashed a fanged smile. “But I can’t make that decision for you. Ultimately, the choice here is up to you. So I’ll ask ya, do you stay or do you go?”
