The two had been meeting in secret since their first encounter, they had to keep them a secret. This was a common thing for the two to do, they talked for hours long into the night, the only time they could truly be alone without fear of his kin finding them.
“Do they suspect anything? Your kin?”
He can’t help but smile fondly at her, his expression gentle and full of affection. It had become tradition, this meeting of their. It was secretive and dangerous, but, Kili thinks, it’s all worth it as long as he gets to spend time with the woman that has captured his heart.
“Most of them remain clueless. Though - Fee has been surprised a few times when I say I have to go. Don’t worry though, I’ll make sure he isn’t suspicious of what I’m doing.”

He’s slightly surprised, not at all expecting it. He stands in the doorway, one hand braced on the wood and the other resting on his belt. He hesitates, unsure whether to accept her request, but seeing her there, looking so small as she asks him of this, he can’t help but agree. His whole posture softens, shoulders relaxing and head tilting slightly to the side as he sends her a soft smile.
“Of course I’ll stay, if you really want me to.”

“If I am honest, I have always wondered what it would be like living as your people do. I think I would like living in a mountain.” she nodded with bright smile when she turned to look at Kili. “I would like to see Erebor one day.”
He can’t help but grin in pride, sitting up a little bit straighter in his chair as she speaks of how much she wished to talk to dwarves. He’s honoured that she’s talking to him, out of all the dwarves that she could’ve ended up talking to. The light touch on his arm brings a faint pink flush to his cheeks and he quickly averts his eyes, clearing his throat before going to reply.
“Living in a mountain is good, but it’s the forest around it that’s the fun part. The climbing of any tree that you want, fresh air and so much open space that it would take you weeks to cover it all.” His smile is soft, wistful. It’s clear to see that he’s remembering all the good times that he’s spent in the forest, hunting with his brother and travelling with his family. “You really should visit one day. I could show you the forges.”

“Do you really think I don’t see where I walk?” Fili asked, faking a yawn as if sleepy when in truth he was getting rather bored, “You can’t go waste our time on such a small prey,” he pointed out with a teasing grin on his face, “What was that anyway? A newborn rabbit? Come on, brother. I’m sure even you can take down an adult. At least you’d get more food out of it.”
It was gentle teasing of course. Kili had become a good hunter though picking larger animals would be more useful and less waste of life, “I got the ponies ready. How about we try and find an elk or something bigger? I believe you are more than ready for that.”
He rolls his eyes, the action exaggerated for his brothers amusement. “I know it wouldn’t make a full meal, but it could’ve made a very nice snack.” He sniffs dramatically, tilting up his chin in mock haughtiness. It doesn’t last for long though, before he’s grinning at his brother.
“I suppose we should find something bigger, although who knows - that rabbit might’ve been made entirely out of meat and we just missed our chance to eat it.” He’s joking of course, obvious in the slight rise of his brows and the upturned corners of his lips. “Though if find an elk I’m more than willing to eat him to too.”
