He made it such an ugly thing to want. To want time. Attention. Affection. Love. I was only supposed to want him, but to express that want? It was an ugly thing. To be ashamed of. He made the desire feel like a need that was wrong.

And in all my healing, I am struggling to forgive him for that. Because I’m still closing my eyes (a year and a half later) and hoping I get one last kiss that I will remember.
