Theren arrived on the plane that Ivegard’s trail had led him. He stood resolutely when he landed, his staff supporting him as he appeared.
He arrived in a small square room, less than three meters large, without any furniture except for a kaladeshi light globe. On one wall is a tall window, letting him see that he’s relatively high against a mountain, and the valley below.
On the ground is a brightly colored symbol, looking like a simple rune of some sort.
When he opens the door he ends up in a larger room, with a little more to it, if only for its contents. On his end, there’s five doors, including the one he just took. On the other end, there’s a couple more doors, and, more interestingly, people close to them. They were wearing similar outfits, a human and a kor.
As soon as they saw Theren, one of them came to greet him. “Welcome, Sir. Is it your first visit to the Haven?”
Theren looked confused, most places he planeswalked to he arrived outside, not in, especially if it were he first time walking there. He greeted them by saying, “Salutations, I am Theren Everwood and this is my first time here.”
The kor showed around him. “I don’t know how much you learned about this place before coming here, but this is the Haven. We provide shelter and care, as well as a neutral ground for anyone, planeswalker or not, in need of one. Would you happen to need any of these?”
Theren shook his head, a bit confused. “I’m not looking for shelter or care, but I do have a friend who is staying here. My friend Ivegard sent me to visit him. This is a really nice place, my compliments to you and everyone who takes care of it,” he said with a smile.
“Oh, looking for another guest? What’s his name? Is he waiting for you?” he made a sign for the human to approach.
Theren thought for a moment. “Well… he used to go by the name Szadek…. but he changed it recently to….. oh gods I forgot.”
“Ah, Mr. Quincyne. We were told that he invited some people. Yuline will guide you to him.” he pointed to the woman. “But before that, we’re you informed of the rules of this place?”
Theren shook his head. “Not that I know of. I would like to know so I don’t cause any trouble while I am here.”
“Most of the rules are decency, don’t harass or attack any of the other guests or members of the staff. However, to be able to guarantee the neutrality of this place, all magic is banned from here. You’ll find that you couldn’t break this rule even if you wanted to. Magical items…” He looked at Theren’s staff. “Are to be left in our care until you leave, at which point they’ll be returned. You might also notice that you can’t planeswalk here, or in the rest of the Haven. It isn’t anything to worry about, planeswalks can only happen in those little rooms like the one you arrived in.”
Theren looked at her, confused. “The staff isn’t magical. It looks like it is, but there is no magic causing that, it’s natural. It’s a part of my essence,” he said pointing at the rest of his body. The starscapes shown in all of his shadows. Being the honest person he was he also then stated,” my lute is enchanted, but only so it will not break. It has no other charms on it. Is it okay if I keep a hold on it then?,” he asked, his voice in a polite way.
He listened to the explanation. “This matches what we detected. We will take the lute. If you can separate from it, the staff as well, for the safety of mind of other guests.”
Theren bristled at the thought of being separated from his lute. But he gently took it off and gave it to him. Then he gently gave the staff to him. “I should be fine without the staff… my leg only spasms every once in a while.”
“Thank you, and sorry for the inconvenience. They’ll be preciously kept during your stay. Any particular need for their storage or care you want us to take?”
Theren eyes softened knowing they’d be taken care of. “Just make sure that no one messes with the tuners on the lute. It’s not the easiest to keep in tune.”
“We will. Yuline, take Mr. Everwood to Mr. Quincyne’s room.”
The human nodded, “If you would follow me?”
Theren smiled. “I will and feel free to call me Theren, few call me by my last name.”
She started to walk out of the room, while the kor went to store his items. “You’re a guest here, Mr. Everwood. Will you need any help with your leg?”
Theren shook his head. “I should be fine, it only spasms every once in a while.”
“As you wish. It’s not far from here.”
Theren followed with a spring in his step, and only once did his leg betray him. He almost fell but caught himself and continued to walk.
She looked at him but didn’t say a word, shortly before stopping before a door and knocking.
“Mr. Quincyne?”

Desz opens the door quickly, as if he had been waiting anxiously for the visit.
“Yes?!”
“A Mr. Everwood to see you.”
She showed the bard behind her.
“Excellent! Thank you very much for showing him here.” Desz bows appreciatively.
“I will leave you to it, then.” She bowed back, imitating Desz’s, then took her leave.
