I'm too tired to really talk about this au rn but Mori and i crafted a lovely little horror au inspired by a horror mod for skyrim called Shadow of Meresis

We call this au Shadow of Mercay (SoM for short) and the only context you need for this sketch is that Linebeck was already a ghost here :] And that the hourglass is a corrupted artifact.

Im gonna be annoying about this but we don’t know where Linebeck came from. We don’t know if he’s from the Ocean King’s realm or if he’s from the same world Link and Tetra are from.

Yes he was sent back after Oshus woke up but you know who else was sent back? Jolene, Astrid, and all of the Anouki and maybe the gorons. Linebeck isn’t the only one, and we know this cuz of Spirit tracks. Jolene has a descendant Joynas. The Anouki exist, I think Astrid is straight up in Spirit tracks but I don’t quite remember. Linebeck is not the only one. And it’s hard cuz we don’t know how long the world lasted. Time moves very slow but there were islands, culture, and families that existed, so we know it had to have been a while for Oshus’s realm to exist. So did Linebeck get sucked into his world unknowingly? Or was he born in the world, where his parents were sucked in. Or was he willed into existence, given a backstory and family that doesn’t actually exist? Or maybe they do? We know he and Jolene knew each other when they were kids, so they both had to have come from the same place, right?

It’s just one big mystery with no definitive answer. We don’t know who was created by Oshus when he was attacked by Bellum, we don’t know was a real person before and who wasn’t. But it makes sense that the people in Oshus’s world were willed into existence and then sent to the real world when Oshus got his power back. He is the ocean king after all. He’s a powerful and merciful deity. If he can grant any wish, he could grant people’s existence

#RIGHT it’s super unclear #I will say I don’t think Astrid is in spirit tracks #I’m in the midst of a playthrough rn #but Linebeck and the anouki do #and presumably Jolene #and you’re right!! there are literally so many possibilities #I feel like he got trapped in the ocean king realm after looking for the ghost ship #kind of like how tetra does #though the pirates arent explicitly looking for it #why am I writing all of this in the tags #anyway I do love how ambiguous it all is #it stirs the imagination
