Short Review/Thoughts Under the Line

So this one was interesting, as you can see it takes place from a very close up point of view, that of the girl getting ready at her dressing table. If i'm being honest, i feel like while it is pretty, this game may be considered a weak point as far as the Caihongtang games go. I feel this may be the case because the strength of these games really lies with the beautiful detail and care put into the full outfits (dresses, skirts, shirts, etc), and due to the very zoomed in nature of this one you kind of lose that fine detail. I also notice that it think the hair pieces may just be some they had made before and enlarged for this purpose lol. Not that there's anything wrong with that, i just noticed that it caused the pieces to appear maybe a little blurry. But I find it admirable that they reached for a bit of variety in the game, to go alongside the full body versions. All in all alright, but not overly impressive.

Short Review/Thoughts Under the Line

The caption under this game says that it is a remake of a previous Han Dynasty themed game, and i found it to be quite lovely. If you have played any of their other games, such as the ones featured in my posts yesterday and earlier today, you might notice that this game has far fewer dress, hair, and accessories than in the other games. And while this is true, you have to keep in mind that it actually has many more options than your average dress up game! I think in this instance it's because it IS a remake of an older game, but yes. I enjoyed it greatly!

Short Review/Thoughts Under the Line

I found the 20's style woven throughout this game to be absolutely charming and cute. The colors, the styles, and the silhouettes are so enjoyable. Just so well-thought out, the care and accuracy of the designs are impressive. After years of seeing similar eras done so dirty, honestly, i think part of my enjoyment of this one is that accuracy. I can't understate how much the historical enthusiasm shown here brings me joy. And i also appreciate that the historical accuracy isn't limited to just the evening gowns or "flapper dresses", but that it also includes what they describe as early Republic of China era clothing too. Overall I would say I love this game!

Short Review/Thoughts Under the Line

Yesterday I spent some time replaying this cute game, the last official release from PastelKatto (for the foreseeable future). I still intend to enjoy the past releases from such a truly wonderful game maker and artist, since as far as i know the PastelKatto games website is going to stay up, and i wish the artist well! I liked the different kinds of wings available and thought the cloud/sky/flying backgrounds were really cool to mess with and went really well with the pose. I like the color selection abilities alot as well, and overall i think this game was very enjoyable.

Review/Thoughts Under the Line

I am so impressed with this beautiful game from Caihongtang/idressup. I spent hours mixing and matching these incredibly detailed and thought out dresses and outfits. I would say that these games are the upper tier of what you look for in click n' drag dress up games. The options for customizing hair, accessories, and makeup impress as well, and though the infinite layering possibilities sometimes take a little focus (to get your chosen items placed properly due to their fine detail), it's worth it for the amazing outcome. I also loved the detailed caption explaining the historical context for the era/theme of the game, in this case the Republic of China period (think 1930's-40's). It's clear that the care put into the game is exceptional. I think it falls flat only in one area, that being the total lack of any diversity in the available skin tone options, but it's clear that the detail here is being spent on a "traditional" chinese aesthetic, and is capturing a unique era of clothing and regional history that the designer might have felt didn't require a consideration for more diverse skin options at all. But I feel that in this case, this small detail does NOT detract from this being an overall lovely game. I look forward to playing more games on idressup, and I really appreciate that Caihongtang has a "multi-language" website option!

Short Review/Thoughts Under the Line

Well i'm not typically one for "farmcore"/"cottage core" but this was certainly a cute enough game. While I found the coloring options to be somewhat limited, they did match the overall theme of the game so I can hardly blame them! The ruffles and little borders were cute, and I liked the shoe shapes. I found that the bottom hair pieces were nice, but that I wasn't so impressed with the bangs. But overall for a less involved game, or for a more cute aesthetic, I could definitely recommend this game!
