If you've got a bunch of bored friends (or at least 2-3 of them) and you want to make the world a more interesting place, here's a nifty shenanigan that is relatively cheap to pull off.
Go to the dollar store and buy your standard party supplies: balloons, party hats, gift bags/wrapping paper, wheel and tire cleaner, noisemakers, confetti, etc. While you're there, buy the most random gifts you can find. (Wheel and tire cleaner?) Optional: to go the extra mile, buy slices of cake from a grocery store.
Walk through the park and decide whose birthday is today. I recommend someone who is hanging out with their friends and looks relatively easygoing. If you can, try to overhear their name so you can personalize the birthday song and fully freak them out! If you're planning on filming it, this is also the time to scope out the best place for your camera person.
Finalize the plan. Who will hand them the present? Who’s on balloon/confetti duty? Party hats and noisemakers at the ready? Employ your party-themed ninja skills to stage yourselves around the target without them noticing or caring. If you’re in their line of site, best to pretend you’re on your way somewhere else.
It’s game time! At the subtle signal of blowing your spongebob noisemaker as hard as you can, converge on the unsuspecting celebrant, singing happy birthday in your perfectly rehearsed four-part harmony. Encourage unaffiliated strangers to join in the warbling. Administer their party hat as you shower them with confetti, gifts, and overly enthusiastic adoration. When the confusion has reached its peak, about 20-30 seconds in, scatter! Get out of sight as quickly as possible. Disappear in a puff of joy and bewilderment.
This shenanigan gives you and your friends a satisfying way to spend a day, and gives an unsuspecting stranger a novel story they will probably tell for the rest of their lives!
I like the idea of creating/wearing custom, self-created shirts. Â It's a cool way of expressing personality with appearance. Â This is my latest attempt:
Over time I want to create a bunch of interesting, personalized shirts. Â I think it'd be fun to be the guy who's always wearing a solid shirt with some custom design or message on it you. Â You know the guy... No? Â Well, now you do.
