There’s always lightening on my last night in Idaho

Electricity in the valley, flashing over the mountains to the north like some wild cosmic farewell:

Goodbye! Goodnight! Go West! We will remember your sweetness.

Their voices thunder of a thousand sighs mourning the wilted promise of another sweet summer

Echo across a desert speckled with sage, and vibrate among the cottonwood trees next to the river until the dreamy wisps shake loose from the branches and stain the sky white on their voyage to the sun.

It was last August when the Aphrodite made you a simple crown of white cotton puffs, adorned with emerald and opal glimmers nestled within the fibers like seeds.

When Zeus took you in his arms and whispered to the stars:

Human creature, though you are mortal, I believe you are rather divine. O! How I wish I were kissing you goodnight instead of goodbye.

Hera stood on the lawn and carved canyons to the sea with her tears.

I could hear the neighbors coughing and I could hear the keys in their pockets. Our neighborhood reverberates like a movie set. Everything seems smaller, houses in three-quarters miniature,sounds traveling faster than they should, amplified by the pine pollen that hangs in the air.

A haiku:
