looking at the lyrics for flower man and fuck i just love the line “with his heart in the sand.” cause just. the phrase “head in the sand” meaning deliberately ignoring information to maintain a sense of security - sort of an “if i can’t see it it’s not real and can’t hurt me”

but instead of head it’s heart. it’s swapping the emotion and logic - asgore trying to find a solution through his notes and all the while neglecting how it emotionally affects both himself and his relationships. he still wants that safety and security but he’s ignoring that what he’s actually doing is just causing more hurt. i love when people take idioms and twist them for new meanings it fucking rules
