I love this community, I really do but sometimes it feels like a talking to a brick wall. I honestly feel like bashing my head against a wall when reading the comments on the Carnivon epilogue cause why are like all of the comments whining about there being no romance between Carnivon and his vampire. Mind you, Ellis pinned a comment on the finale clarifying that Carnivon kissed them on the forehead and that when he said he loved them, it was meant platonically....that comment was posted what like a day or two after the finale was posted. Said comment is also pinned, so it's not like its hard to miss or it was a reply to someone.

I don't know how bad it was on the discord cause in the server (Ive been here for 3 years and im still not in the discord, I know, discord just scares me) but honestly the youtube comments just feel like people weren't actually listening to the audio where Carnivon states that love/romance just "doesn't click for him" and that he furthers that by saying if it did, he wouldn't date the listener due to all the baggage he still has tied to vampires and that he's human.

It's not the first time this has happened either, cause it's also happened with Marco and his werewolf listener, although there weren't as many. I think what some people don't get is there can't be romance between those two cause one, I don't think Ellis has been writing that plotline with any romantic tension (the werewolf listener was Marco's second audio in terms of release, so at that point the bf listener didn't exist) but also, Marco is canonically gay. Ellis would either have to change the listener from gender neutral to either a male listener or canonically non binary listener. The reason the werewolf listener would have to be changed is just due to the fact that gn listeners can be interpreted as female, so if Ellis, hypothetically, was to go down the romance route with the werewolf listener and keep it gn, it would invalidate Marco's sexuality.

I know it's not that serious but oh my word it's so annoying going through the comments on the epilogue and the vast majority are whining about the lack of romance, calling it a slow burn and things along those lines. I kinda hope Ellis doesn't do a season 2 cause don't get me wrong, I think it would be interesting to see the start of the Carnivon foundation/what listener does as a vampiric ambassador but I don't think Carnivon needs a season 2. Personally I believe Marco and the rest of that universe would be a good way to explore the work that was done by those two in the past, but that's just my opinion.

I fucking hate when people say stuff like this. Especially when it's on a generally good post with valuable information. On the one hand I want to share that information because it could genuinely help someone; on the other, I don't want to spread this type of guilt-tripping and shaming and potentially trigger someone else like me. It's a lose-lose situation. No matter what I do, I am going to feel guilty. No matter what I do, I will feel like a terrible person. It sucks and I just wish people would stop doing this. I know it's shocking, but it is actually possible to make an important and useful post without guilting everyone that sees it into sharing.

My communications teacher told me this, and I think it applies here:

When posts say, “you have no excuse,” the most common first thought will be something along the lines of “well maybe I do!” By framing the need to reblog as an accusation if one doesn’t, it actually drives away the otherwise passive audience that would’ve reblogged the post.

A much more successful addition to a post is something along the lines of “It would really help me/the cause out if you reblogged!” With this phrasing, it makes the passive audience feel more inclined to reblog because they will feel like they are helping you/the cause. So, it benefits both the audience and the cause

but on a real note, why, on gods green earth, would ANYONE want to be neurodivergent or disabled, the concept of transid confuses me, why would you WANT to be autistic for example, my autism quite frankly ruined my school attendance and a massive chunk of my social life and made my grades plummet. or why would someone want to be physically disabled, im dyspraxic personally and it affects me every single day and i HATE IT. it just confuses me why people can’t see that these aren’t things you should want to have or experience.

And for those people who have access to mobility devices but might benefit from a second chair they can abuse without risking expensive damage…

Erik Kondo has made a website, Open Source Innovations, that details plans for DIY wheelchairs. These wheelchairs can be made from common materials like wood, plastic, and pvc. They are lightweight and can be custom fit to the user allowing from the same degree of movement you would get from a custom chair. And they are durable and easily repairable. (he has been stress testing his latest design by dropping it down stairs, dropping it out of a car, launching it across a driveway, and throwing it off a deck). Its 12lbs and I think he said its was in the $200 ish range for parts.

He also is working on cheap, open source, accessible designs for beach chairs, off road chairs, motorized attachments (think smart drive), and so on. Plus he skateboards in his wheelchair. Cool dude, helpful info, pass it on.
