Sichuan (2019) This Hermès scarf, drawn by Robert Dallet and produced in 1995 is photocopied in several parts. Copies are putted together with tape, scanned, then printed in England on a quite heavy satin imitating silk.

Photographie numérique, papier brillant, couleur, 21×29,7 cm) La réponse apportée aux plus grandes crises publiques comme aux drames privés est financière : une enveloppe exceptionnelles pour ne pas restructurer, une cagnotte en ligne en réaction à une mort violente. C’est également de l’argent (public) que certains des artistes qui s’expriment aujourd’hui en faveur d’une « reconnaissance professionnelle » espèrent obtenir : l’artiste serait indispensable, et il faudrait le payer en retour.

Si la viralité des formes a un sens, celle des défis circulant via les applications de mobile est insurpassable : pour une banane scotchée au mur ou un plug anal géant, combien de projections d’eau glacée ou bouillante sur soi-même ou sur un autre, de mises à feu et de sauces ou d’aérosols aux effets dévastateurs, filmés, mis en scène, et diffusés. Ces rites de passage, d’une dangerosité souvent déconcertante, circulent beaucoup plus efficacement que n’importe quelle prévention des mêmes risques (et font des victimes bien réelles).

Avale intervient entre ces deux états de faits : les productions virales contemporaines comme contexte et concurrence des œuvres diffusées, et le fric comme « spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down »* qu’il est bien difficile d’avaler.

A book of found pictures from a french site for free classified ads (www.leboncoin.fr), depicting coins for sale (French francs, out of circulation since the introduction of the euro in 2002). Their low resolution is amplified by the size of the printed pages.
