With the surface temperatures lingering between that of maximum attainable in nucleate and that of minimum attainable, the steadily growing formation of bubbles can be defined as unstable boiling.
The smaller body of still water formed by the near embankment begins to blanket with a murkiness she has yet to encounter, the thin traces of film spreading across the finish of the pond after the bubbling has subsided and trickles outwards towards the plant-life surrounding the lagoon. It leaves a rather feeble, but distinctive scent in it’s wake ( sharp, choking as the coating expands; it smells like sulfur ) and soon grows persistent.
“ You’re killing the plants. “
Though she’d had every intention of simply passing the female ( she’d identified her as another creature that couldn’t possibly of been human despite the lack of presence she felt – it was strikingly similar to that of herself, albeit somewhat weaker and almost intimidated ), turquoise orbs are drawn to that of the simmering pond before they move to the large genus of flowering plants that had been bordering the slough. She watches as they slump from the intensity of the sudden heat ( leaf succulents shriveling and growing brown ) and submerge themselves underneath the surface.
Melodeia turns her attention towards the lithe-framed nymph, her expression unamused as she gestures for her to step away, “ Move. “
When she heard the voice coming from near the water, she pivoted on her feet to face towards it, her first impulse being to yell at the other. Usually she would sympathize for the plants-she hadn’t even noticed she’d been burning them, honestly- but she was far too irritated with herself, and now with the stranger’s far too cold voice interrupting her pity party. The air that the other gave off seemed cold indeed- not a piercing, icy cold, but a cold strong enough to seep through her body heat and make her shiver.
Her eyes looked at the boiling water behind her before making their way to the other girls face, and when she made eye contact her body temperature must have literally dropped by 50 at least degrees--
The sea nymph. Gods, she was stupid to have let her guard down and come near the lake when she knew there was a water nymph around her.
And there she was. Io backed away a considerable amount of steps, her common sense telling her to just leave. Pretend to not exist while you still have the chance. But then there was that terribly cold remark-- “Move.” And apparently her common sense was no match for her impulse and her pride.
“I’m sorry,” she said, voice sarcastic and biting as if she hadn’t just complied with the other’s request anyways out of fear. “Didn’t realize this was your turf, fish breath.”
“Don’t tell me what to-!! Urrgghh..”
Realizing it’s probably no good to fight with the (seemingly stronger?) stranger, she takes a couple deep breaths, letting in the cold air and forcing herself to cool down. She looks up at him through her hand, her face still in pain from crashing into him like that. His clothes are a little charred, but it doesn’t look like he got burnt, even after the impact..
“You’re lucky that didn’t burn you. Seriously, why the hell does it feel like that hurt me more than it hurt you? Ugh…”
A soft whistle escaped the Emperor’s mouth. The small ones were always feisty weren’t they? He couldn’t imagine why but it seemed to be the case.
Amber eyes examined his jacket, noticing the char. Nothing new, he could just get new clothes. He had long since learned to make sure not to burn his clothes from his fire, but back when he was still using it he often found his clothes singed.
Scarlet flames rode up his body, licking the air around him, to show why he looked fine in comparison to her.
“Does this answer your question?”
“.....”
“.........You...”
She stares at the flames in disbelief, swiping her hand through them to confirm they’re real. They are, and she shrieks a little.
“Y-you’ve got....fire...stuff!! What-- how--” she points at him, which is apparently her standard response to being shocked over people with fire powers. “But you look like a human! I sure as hell ain’t never seen a salamander ‘big as you, and you sure as hell ain’t no nymph either! Are you a dragon? A wizard?” Suddenly, in the middle of her rant she seems to remember why she’s talking to this guy in the first place-- which is that she’s still very lost-- and hits herself on the head.
“Ugh, no, y’know what? Never mind.” There’s no use gettin excited over it anyways. Why should you, when you’re useless, and they’ll just end up thinking of you the same way? Move on, get out already. “Just gimme some directions and I’ll leave you alone, big guy, so put your flames away now. Point made.”
when ur a failure of a fire nymph who cant create fire but u keep meeting all these mortals who can
and then a not-failure nymph of the element that can literally kill u shows up

She wasn’t sure how exactly she had gotten herself lost in Diamantous, but she sure managed it. Frustrated, the girl had begun pacing in circles, burning charred footprints into the ground as she went. After a considerable number of laps, she felt herself bump into someone (who was much larger and broader and damn, that hurt!) that she was positive wasn’t there before, and her body heated up even more.
“Hey! You better watch yer step, big guy!”
“Shouldn’t you watch where you’re going?”
What was up with her? She looked so pissed off. Who hurt her? Honestly it was almost comedic, considering the size difference between the two. He wasn’t moved by the heat, seeing he was far too used to his own fire.
“Turn down the heat, you’re going to burn someone.”
“Don’t tell me what to-!! Urrgghh..”

Io gets an uneasy feeling that someone is a bit too close to her, so on impulse turns around, coming face to face with Zuriel. When she notices the other girl’s hand approaching her she grabs it rather harshly, warming up in annoyance at this stranger seemingly wanting to touch her without permission.
“Do you need something, kid?”
Zuriel jumped at the sudden turn in surprise, but relaxed again as she looked at her. Oblivious to the other girl’s ire and potential threat, she smiled sweetly and tried wiggling her hand out of Io’s grip.
“Ah, um…I just thought your hair was really pretty - your eyes are also pretty by the way! - but I guess I don’t need anything. Where are you from?”
“You... you what?”
Io briefly stared at the other girl, confused that a human would be so unphased after her being snappy at them, and even more confused that a human would think that she’s pretty. She looked away self-consciously to hide whatever red might be extending to her face, letting go of Zuriel’s hand to sheepishly touch her own hair.
“I’m from Artema. Does it matter?”
@luminousxstrike
God, she hated when this happened. For the nth time in the past several months, her heat had gotten out of control while training, causing the metal of her brass knuckles to become bent and misshapen. It was pitiful, but she would have rather used a defective weapon than have to go out and talk to some stranger to get them fixed, that is until they became nearly unusable.
Luckily, she had overheard that a fellow pawn in Apolion was a rather skilled blacksmith, and figured that at it might be better if she only has to talk to another pawn. So here she was now in Apolion, outside the door of what she hoped was the right building, and hesitantly opened the door to see a small flame. Which of course, wouldn’t have surprised her, were it not for the fact that it was seemingly being controlled by a person. A person. Controlling fire.
She shrieked in surprise, pointing a finger at him.
“You! You’re-!!”

Red. A very pretty bright red. Back in Melantia, such a haircolor was hardly common. It was so lovely, a little bit like roses, or maybe embers, or the insides of a red velvet cake…!
Unconsciously, Zuriel raised a hand towards the cascade of rich crimson…
