I believe that the most beneficial outcome of doing CAS is having the ability to track the progress and development of my actions. Journaling is not something I have done in the past, so it was a new experience for me to consciously reflect on my out of school activities in writing. However, I discovered that it is incredibly helpful to appreciate my progress over the years but also to identify what I failed to improve on and have to start paying more attention to. The greatest challange was definitely performing with the choir, which I feel I largely overcame just by agreeing and forcing myself through every performance, and every next one became a bit easier. Through CAS I achieved proficiency in designing platforms like canva by preparing the yearbook and presentations, which I did not have earlier. The skill that I developed the most thanks to CAS is confidence in the kitchen, by baking and cooking various dishes, which is a very practical skill for later life. The learning outcomes I found the most easy to achieve are perseverance and commitment, as I was taking part in two such experiences even before CAS and I am fully invested in them, and identifying strengths and areas of growth due to my self-evaluating nature. The most difficult learning outcome to achieve was engaging with issues of global importance as my activities were largely concentrated around personal growth; however, through choir performances, preparing presentations and my CAS project I was able to fulfill that learning outcome.
5. Evidence of commitment and perseverance in CAS experiences
My equestrian trainings and the school choir definitely required the most perseverance and commitment, as I started them even before CAS and continued throughout the whole DP programme. They both required regular practice sessions and have a flat learning curve, so results can be visible only after comparing between long periods of time. Nevertheless, those are the kinds of experiences that are the most rewarding.

The benefits and skills of collaborative work were especially employed in the school choir, where the whole impact is generated by multiple voices working together. Another experience was the yearbook preparation, where things went a lot faster with a group of 3 people working together.

2. Evidence of identification of strengths and areas for personal growth
The experiences where I had to apply identifying strengths and areas of growth were my equestrian trainings and choir experience. These are both areas where much attention and opportunity to success lies in the details, so it is important to be critical of oneself but also be able to see the strengths not to get lost in self criticism.

The work on the yearbook continues as the next step is to fill out the missing pictures/quotes, and do some visual improvements. This is sometimes a monotonous copy/paste process, but also sometimes requiring spatial imagination and aesthetic feel. We got positive feedback on the design from the principal. On 03.03.2026 we went to a printing facility to consult our design as to the margins necessary and the price of the printing stage.
As in many equestrian competitions there is a freestyle program at the end, where the riders have their own programme prepared with individual music tracks, I thought it would be useful to start to learn some basics of audio editing to be able to prepare the music myself by mixing pre-existing tracks. This time I spent a few hours just trying to orient myself within a program - i.e. how to upload files etc. At the end I learnt a crucial cross-fade function which I will probably use a lot to smoothen out the transition between tracks. Although I am far from being ready to make my own freestyle music, if I practice for long enough beforehand I believe I will manage.
Yearbook meeting with school's principal, 20.02.2026
Today in the morning we met with the schools principal to update her on our progress in preparing the yearbook. We got some useful advice and directions as to how to deal with pictures/quotes which do not allign with school regulations/aesthetic of the students photos section which are all presented on the same background from the prom. The decision was to regulate this section more strictly and include a 'school life' section at the end, where students can express themselves more freely.
As the visuals were primarily settled for, there is a small space left after each student for a quote of their choice. Of course, the school yearbook is an official school representation so we have to review the quotes first as to whether they do not violate any school regulations. Therefore, we prepared a survey to place the quote of choice. I have also written to the class tutors to post an announcement on IDU, as it I the most effective way to communicate such information; however, only one responded to my email so we had to announce the survey on the group chat, which can possibly cause some to miss this information so we will have to find them individually later. Nevertheless, there is significant progress in the photographies of students and teachers.
Today I focused on canter-walk-canter transition and simple leg changes. It is a difficult exercise for me, especially keeping the walk in between relaxed, as it is essential for the smoothness of the subsequent upward transition. However, I feel that after each practice session like that there is a slight improvement to the quality and self-carriage through the transitions, which was a major problem lowering the marks at the previous competition.
As the photos from the prom got released, we were able to collect them and prepare a list of students/teachers who do not have photos for the yearbook. It is important to start this process as early as possible as collecting the missing photos will take a lot of time. Hence, we prepared a shared note where we listed all the people with missing photos where we could cross out ones we have already collected.
Preparing the visual blueprint of the yearbook (26-30.01)
The next step in our yearbook project while waiting for the pictures from the prom is to prepare the graphical template and devise an overall idea for this album. We had many different ideas but decided to go for a design which would resemble the school's brand book so that it can relate and remind the readers of the school. The decision was made to use canva as it is a tool we are all more or less proficient in and it allows to work collaboratively effectively. The hardest thing was to keep in mind the margins necessary for the yearbook to be readable when printed. Moreover, it was difficult to find a suiting background, but finally the decision was to leave it white not to overdo the design. This task required a lot of spatial imagination and forward planning for the sections, but overall with collaborative work I believe that we managed to do it right.
I have recently started feeling a disturbing monotony in my breakfast ideas, usually consisting of breakfast cereal, which is both unhealthy and does not keep me fed throughout the day. Hence, I decided to search for breakfast ideas to improve my routine. The tricky part is that for breakfast I usually do not have the time nor the appetite to engage in extensive cooking activities; therefore, I had to search for something small but nutritious and easy and fast to prepare. I decided that the croque monsieur is a perfect candidate, as it is an enhanced version of the French toast with cheese and ham filling on the inside in between two buns submerged in an egg. I found it quite easy to prepare, similar to classic scrambled eggs but something new and different. Moreover, I decided to add a sweet twist in form of raspberry jam on top, which was a terrific idea. Unfortunately, I ran out of good bread so I needed to settle for regular toast bread but it still came out extremely well. In conclusion, I am glad that I tried this recipe and will definitely repeat it in the future.
Together with my friends I decided to initiate a cas experience and start a project and prepare a yearbook for teachers and students, as we are graduating in 3 months. As a first step I met with the school principal to settle on some of the technicalities. I made some notes from the meeting and sent them to my teammates, as the school principal has more experience in preparing yearbooks than us and will have to approve on the final version to be printed.
During the winter holiday I went for a ski trip to work on my skiing technique. It is important for me to diversify the sports I practice in order to equally develop different muscle groups. I ski for a total of 6 days. During the first two days I had to remind myself of the previous things that I learned, but later I managed to work on some more minor details. It resulted in me being able to cope with harder slopes and snow conditions without loosing speed or position. I recognized that I sometimes bend in my hips too much and shift my weigh to the back. By concisely paying attention to that throughout my runs I was able to improve on that a lot by the end of the trip.
This time we focused on the canter work. I managed to sustain self carriage throughout most of the training but still sometimes struggle with harder elements. However, it is still an improvement as a month ago I would not be able to do so even in a simple circle or straight line.
