Day 6 - 'Spirit'

I wanted to draw a horse. You know the one from that old DreamWorks movie? Its name was Spirit. But I only had 15 minutes, so you get pac-man chased by ghosts instead.

Day 5 - "Raven"

Pretty straightforward with this one. Wanted to add maybe some more accessories or something to the background, but I don't have much time on weekdays anymore. This is fine.

Day 04 - 'Knot'

Gonna be frank, didn't put much effort into this. Made in 5 minutes using Sketchbook and Snapseed on an Android mobile device. Not sure if I will have a ton of time the rest of October 😅 But, I WILL try to complete the inktober challenge, even if it means lower quality in the end!

Day 3 - Vessel

I thought what is a better vessel than one of information? And the common fantasy use of vessel is a container for life. And then it hit me. DNA! They're a vessel of our ancestors and a vessel of ourselves into the future. It fits :)

For this piece I decided procedural is the way to go so I finally sat down and learned how to use Blender's nodes - they're very finnicky and quite troublesome. But worth it to learn :) Here's my setup:

Day 2 - Suit -- At first I wanted to do entirely Chapter 1 characters, to fit 'Suit' better, but this is more trendy :) No blender this time, entirely a study of one of my favorite paintings, "A Bold Bluff" by CM Coolidge I want to learn how to draw faster :- Sadly, I didn't finish it in one day. It's 2 am now... When I get more time I'll revisit this piece and finish painting it. Hopefully in a couple months!~

My secret is to wake up early (about 6-7 am) and do the fun work first. After 4 hours or so take a break, eat, whatever, then do the hard work. Eventually evening comes around and you can then say, yeah, I did some work today, and I can enjoy this movie/game/book without feeling guilty.

Although it really depends on the work and the promises you made to the people who asked you to do that work. Sometimes it all just gets too stressful and you need to sleep in and take a couple days to get yourself together, say sorry, and then move on.

After four months of running my own blog on Tumblr, making tweaks and improvements, we open to the public. Hundreds of thousands of people begin using Tumblr to share some of the most eclectic, clever, and beautiful things we’ve ever seen on the internet.

We are humbled and awestruck.

Racing to keep up, every feature we add attempts to stretch the canvas a little bit more, pushed by this community’s constant and boundless creativity. Five months in, you have captured our hearts. We work up the courage to pursue Tumblr full time.

With a new purpose and brave investors, we close down our web development business and reopen as Tumblr, Inc.

Internet culture has become the prevalent, global culture. These networks expose us to new ideas and information but–too often–trap us in bubbles. The world has been compressed, and we are constantly challenged to reconcile our differences.

With so many barriers to digital expression now lifted, and nearly all modes of media supported across all platforms, there is now an unprecedented opportunity to dedicate this space to freedom, truth, expanded perspective, and positive influence in the world. Tumblr’s focus over the next decade will shift accordingly.

Expression has been and always will be a foundational part of Tumblr—and our roadmap this year will not disappoint—but it is now more urgent than ever to empower positive and productive connections across the communities that thrive here. I love how the SF guys just photoshopped themselves into a photo of SF. That office is surprisingly small, didn't realize Tumblr started in New York. Tumblr feels a lot like a silicon valley thing. @david mentioned how expressive you want blogs to be, but since most people are using the mobile app that expressiveness has disappeared. It's always one layout, and the same bugs on every profile. I hope fixing this is a priority on your roadmap.

Hiya! To answer your question about Behance: Behance is a more "professional" place to post art. Many use Behance to get jobs in graphic design, and many use it for their online art portfolios/resumes. Hopefully this answers your question!

I understood that, more or less. My confusion comes from the fact that there is barely any objectively “bad” art. My best guess is that it might be because there’s no specific sense of a blog/fanbase on behance. It’s just art. Therefore, people don’t have a reason to post progress on there. Either that, or again, they have some kind of curating process.
