Summary: Kakashi comes home from a gruesome mission, searching for comfort from Iruka to help cope with his mental anguish.
Kakashi arrived home just as twilight set though no one could tell due to the deluge affecting Konoha. It had been a nightmare of a mission, the type he would never want to go on again. He tried to shove it out of his mind time and again on his way back to the village but flashbacks plagued him relentlessly. Finally reaching the apartment he shared with his partner, Kakashi opened the door and went inside before collapsing onto the floor, rainwater streaming from him onto the tile below.
“Hey,” Iruka said with a cheerful smile until he took in the ANBU member sitting on the floor with his arms propping him up, “Bad mission?”
“The worst,” Kakashi replied, struggling with Iruka when he knelt in front of him and pulled him into his arms, “I’m soaking wet.”
“I don’t care,” Iruka stated, “I have a partner that needs some tender loving care. You can tell me about your mission if you’d like.”

Summary: The Ma (間), is initially this fundamental concept that designates the space or interval between things, which is considered both an emptiness and a significant presence. And if one had asked Iruka Umino to describe what emptiness meant to him, he probably would have mentioned rainy Sundays or those moments when the classroom empties after his last theater class. Never would he have imagined that the emptiness could be a presence capable of reducing you to the strangest silence imaginable. But that, he would only discover later, when he crossed the threshold of that place his grandmother used to called the Ma (間).
