“Where are the trans men in history?” See. When you're born a gender that was forcefully married off, who had to live most of their life indoors, when you had to raise children, and had a lobotomy if your family thought you were a tad too odd, it's kinda hard to come out as a trans man now ain't it.
forever my lineage would use his wrong pronouns but not me
[Image ID: Tumblr tags reading: I have an ancestor who 'pretended to be a man' for years, according to my relatives he did so in order to go to school to become a doctor, and he was eventually found out and wed off to a man and had a family, and forever would be revered for being able to get a degree 'posing as a man', but apparently even after marriage he still dressed in men's clothes and preferred to be seen as a man, forever my lineage would use his wrong pronouns but not me, I see him and I hope he smiles upon me knowing I am living a life he would have dreamed just getting to be a trans man, without being forcefully wed off and forced to have children for the sin of being born with a vagina, such is history with trans mascs, I once saw someone online say:, 'if history has a gaping hole where a minority should be, it's not because they did not exist/did not contribute, it's because they were erased', and I think about that a lot when I see stories like my ancestors knowing that our history has constantly been defiled, just like this /End ID]
If you've ever wondered why people in Hawai'i hate tourists, try to wrap your mind around the fact that there are CURRENTLY, RIGHT NOW, tourists sipping martinis and looking at fish within swimming range of the fresh corpses of local people who couldn't escape the overnight destruction of their entire town.
Try to comprehend that there are fully functional, high capacity boats passing through the waters in front of an area full of survivors who are stranded and in need of supplies, refusing to help. They are hosting snorkeling tours.
Really think about, try your best to actually picture over two thousand people unhoused and in need of shelter, with nothing but the clothes on their backs and nothing to return to. Understand that the island, stolen land, is littered with hotels full of air conditioned of rooms with beds and showers and toilets, each fully equipped to host hundreds of families for weeks, turning these people away because they're booked up with tourists who refuse to leave.
And understand that these tourists were offered free transport to return home or be hosted on other islands. Free. Courtesy of local tax dollars. 4,000 wealthy tourists were offered free flights shelter on Oahu and begged to leave the island, BEFORE the survivors were given shelter.
And enough still insisted on remaining and carrying out their vacations that people are left without shelter and resources while they enjoy "their stay in paradise".
[Edit]: This current situation, and this type of tourist behavior is horrifying beyond words. In other circumstances, the tourism situation is much more complicated, and I need to ask that people do not add on to this post unless they are local.
Happy Birthday, Troy 🎂
I know this is a deeply American thing to say but I am begging everyone to stay the fuck away from military recruiters. Especially high school kids. You are going to be seeing an unholy amount of them in schools or around schools or literally anywhere kids are known to congregate. THIS INCLUDES ALL FORMS OF ROTC. Stay the fuck away from military recruiters. As someone who’s familiar with entirely too many branches through entirely too many friends and family, including my partner, recruiters are authorized to say literally any fucking thing they think will make you sign on that line. They cannot and will not deliver on those promises. They need bodies for the war they’re pretending is only now starting up again. That’s all you are. A body. Stay the FUCK away from the military.
RECRUITERS LIE
damn this bus stop is perfect. now if we could just find somebody to stand upwind of everybody and smoke a decrepit cigarette they found in a tomb
bitching about outdoor second hand smoke while simultaneously being in or around a car pollution encased bus stop is wild when u consider for even a moment how much worse general car pollution impacts u compared to occasional second hand smoke like …. let’s pick ur battles
Picture this, you're at a bus stop on your way to work when suddenly through the dense fabric of your kn95 mask which you wear every single day like you have for the past 5 years you smell something evil. A scowling, rancorous smell like someone walked into the Paris catacombs and took a long drag off a femur that once belonged to the world's most hateful frenchman. You glance upwind and see a dude with a manbun puffing fat clouds of malice out of a ghoul's severed finger. You post about it on tumblr and it gets just enough traction to find the one person on the whole website brave enough to say, "You can't complain about that. Because cars cause pollution and you don't wear a mask."

Toy from Ancient Greece, c.450 BCE: this doll was crafted in the form of a woman with a rolling pin, and it has articulated joints that allow the rolling pin to be moved back and forth
This terracotta figurine was created nearly 2,500 years ago, and it was likely designed as a toy. The doll is positioned above a small tray, and its torso is equipped with a set of pins (located in the waist and shoulders) that allow the figure to lean up and down, gently pushing the rolling pin back and forth across the tray as if preparing food.
Above: another view of the same doll
This is not the only known example of an articulated doll from ancient Greece. Many so-called "dancing dolls" (also known as plangones) were created throughout the Greco-Roman world.
Above: bone figurine with articulated limbs, from ancient Greece, c.350-250 BCE
As this book explains:
Female dolls with attached limbs known as plangones, korai, or nymphai were made in numerous areas in Greece over a considerable span of time from the Geometric to the Hellenistic periods. Male dolls also exist but were far less popular. Although made out of a wide range of materials, including wood, bone, ivory, marble, wax, cloth, and alabaster, dolls of terracotta are by far the most common.
The same book goes on to describe some of the other toys that were created and used by the ancient Greeks:
In antiquity, play was as much an integral part of growing up as it is today, and the ancient Greeks possessed a wide variety of toys and games. Both the archaeological record and ancient literature provide information about these, only some of which overlaps. The most common toys preserved include rattles, dolls, knucklebones, figurines, miniature vessels, miniature furniture, and miniature animals, some of which are wheeled and some of which have riders. Less common are balls and wheeled carts.
Ancient toys have been unearthed in many other parts of the world, too.

Some of the rattles, pull-toys, articulated dolls, and mechanical figurines from Mesopotamia and Egypt even date back to nearly 4,000 years ago.
Above: a mechanical dog figurine from Egypt, c.1390-1352 BCE, with a lever that opens and closes the dog's mouth
In one of my previous posts, I also mentioned a 3,500-year-old wheeled hedgehog figurine from Iran that may have been created and used as a toy.

maybe y'all didn't notice but fat people who don't hate ourselves sure did notice that people were obsessed with shitting on fat people in the late 90s and early 2000s (conservative political time) and now are again (fascist political time), coincidentally while the market for weight loss has become a 90 billion dollar industry due to glp1s.
you are not immune to propaganda. it makes some people a whole hell of a lot of money for you to hate fat people and fear becoming (or staying, I think like 70% or something of the US is fat) one of us.
a lot of the fearmongering over fatness comes from studies directly funded by the weight loss industry...i think people don't really realize or think about the fact that research can absolutely be influenced and skewed by its funding. there is also research that shows that an amount of the negative health outcomes for fat people come from anti-fat bias. if you go to the doctor with concerns and the doctor simply tells you to lose weight, your problem is neglected and you may not even bother going to the doctor with the next problem.
every fat person you know for the most part probably has a story like this, of medical neglect. many of the stories i've heard personally are when the complaint or the doctor wasn't related at all, like being told to lose weight at the ear nose and throat doctor or at the dentist. it's straight up just bias. it's such a thing that in the show Shrill it's portrayed, when Aidy Bryant goes to the gynecologist and her doctor suggests she get gastric bypass.
the studies on health and fatness are simply not that black and white and there is basically no research that shows that more than an incredibly tiny minority of people can lose weight and keep it off for more than like 2 years. bodies have set points that they gravitate towards, it's not a personal failure. this also is how the weight loss industry succeeds so well - repeat customers.
some of the harm associated with fatness is also due to weight cycling, which is very hard on your body and is even worse if you get off a GLP1, which according to a recent study causes weight to be regained at a rate that is 4x faster than without taking a GLP1.
you don't have to hate yourself. you don't have to hate other people for their body type either. it makes me so sad to see the thinspo tag going around again in 2026 a lot like it was back in the day.

there's so much crazy shit once you go down the rabbit hole. for example, BMI was not invented by anyone with a medical background. it was never meant to measure individual health.
The U.S. weight loss industry reached an unprecedented high in 2023, estimated at $90 billion, largely driven by surging sales of the widely
Evidence is mounting that our body fat supports everything from our bone health to our mood, and now, research suggests it also regulates bl
just gonna reblog this forever because i love fat people and we deserve fuckin basic human dignity and respect regardless of our weight
The “women have a biological clock that makes them suddenly want a baby” thing is weird because nowadays 75% of the time you hear about a couple where one of them is desperate to have a baby RIGHT NOW despite the impracticality of their current life circumstances, the baby crazy one is the man.
researchers: this condition is underdiagnosed advocacy groups: we'll spread knowledge that it's underdiagnosed healthcare workers: some of us will use expanded diagnostic criteria now patients: wow we finally know what's up
tabloids: the condition is mysteriously spreading. this is DANGEROUS.
I’m sure this is partially because I’m trans but I will never understand the absolutely hysterical and irrational fear cis man have about paternity fraud and raising a kid that is not their own biologically. It is one thing to be hurt by your spouse’s betrayal and feel exploited if you know your spouse actively lied to you and used you for financial support and another thing entirely to arbitrarily decide a child is not biologically related to you despite no DNA confirmation and no history of infidelity and begin taking it out on everyone. Especially if the kid is already 10+ years old, even if your ‘hunch’ is correct and they are not your bio kid, you’ve been raising them for 10 years so you are their dad. And there are so many stories of people being like “My dad treated me like shit specifically while I was growing up and he eventually admitted it was because he thought I wasn’t his kid. I took a DNA test, I am his kid.” I don’t think someone who is willing to take their insecurities out on children deserves to be a parent in any capacity.
I do get really really angry when I hear the parents of disabled children say “This is not how I wanted my life to turn out.” or “I didn’t sign up for this.” because yes, yes you did. You took the risk of having a disabled child when you had a child. Your child isn’t disabled to spite you and ruin your dreams of a perfect family. You are the one who brought them into this world. This might sound anti-natalist and shitty of me but so many parents expect their children to be inherently grateful to them for the gift of life and all the good experiences that come along with it and then refuse to acknowledge that they brought a child into this world to live, suffer, die and pay taxes. I get that you as a parent and a caregiver are suffering, that our medical system is severely fucked, that there is an incredible lack of support for disabled people. Your child will be dealing with that for the rest of their life, you opened this chapter of your life but your child will be dependent on highly flawed systems and possibly abusive caregivers for their entire life. These parents (especially in the autism community) turn all of their rage and frustration and hurt outwards and often towards their disabled child instead of learning healthier ways to cope or even taking internal accountability for the fact they did, in fact, bring this child into this situation.
it really is interesting how most adults really only see child sexual assault through the lens of how it makes THEM feel. it's not really about the actual harm that comes to the children, it's about how they, the adult (the real victim) feels about the fact that a child or children got abused and taken advantage of.
like one time I saw a vid of some dudes who tricked some guys into thinking they were going to meet up with minors, instead they forced the two dudes to fight on camera. it's voyeurism, it's not about protecting children it's about the good feeling YOU, the viewer, get inside when you watch this happen.
or like I was arguing with some people about CSA being punishable by death. i don't care if child abusers die, let me say that. wouldn't care if they all killed themselves to a person. but there is a REASON child advocacy organizations will tell you that executing convicted pedophiles is a bad idea, and that's because it will lead to more children being killed to hide the crimes of the abuser.
But if you argue against THE STATE executing pedophiles, people start pulling the "ohhhh wow defending pedophiles. this the hill you wanna die on?" like no dude I just think about the effects of policy outside of the fucking feel-good yummies in my tummy I get from seeing someone I don't like punished.
