"5Years with AFTERSCHOOL" project

We Japanese Playgirlz will be doing a project for AFTERSCHOOL's 5th debut anniversary and we would like international Playgirlz to join this project too^^

This is what we are going to do... We are going to collect a picture/drawing with message on it from playgirlz and put them all together in an album and hand it to AFTERSCHOOL members personally. We will be collecting picture messages for all AFTERSCHOOL members including graduates Soyoung, Bekah and Kahi. We will also going to make a slideshow movie with your picture messages so graduated members can see them too!

You can create your picture message image as you like. It can be drawing of AS members, a picture of your AS collections or your country's landmark... anything you like^^ however, here are some rules to follow:

1. It's up to you to use anything for a picture message but PLEASE DO NOT USE ANY PHOTOS WITH CREDIT AND ANY FAN TAKEN FLICKS WITH OR WITHOUT CREDIT. Please do not use them in any way for your message picture.

TRANS Nana who is currently an active member of After School, is also a winner back in 2009 for the Korean Super Model Tournament. How did you originally inspired into modeling field?

Nana : Truth is I did not plan to enter modeling business. I just had the opportunity to participate in the model convention by chance. I was only interested with modeling after that. I entered this entertainment business when I was about 19 years old. Although I've always interested in this field since I was little but I didn’t have any desire like “ I wanted to become/ do something …. “ but it was awaken the moment I participated in the modeling tournament. My future vision got more clear. I admired Um JungHwa.. …………………………………………………………………………………………

Do you faced any hardships as you originally join Afterschool , as a model. Nana : At the beginning I had to straggled a little because singing and dancing were not my speciality. By taking lessons I saw my habit in singing and dancing and the process of fix all my habits were difficult. …………………………………………………………………………………………

After the Japan debut of AfterSchool in 2011, you appeared in a big fashion event  and others like Tokyo Girls Collection(TGC),  “ Girls Award “ and many other solo activities which leveled up your career as a model. Nana : The fact that I’m given the permission to do something I loved to which is modeling in Japan, I felt really honored. I was happy but of course I felt nervous at the same time by having a big stage for myself like in “TGC”. …………………………………………………………………………………………

You’re also a fixed panelist/MC for  ” TOKYO BRANDNEW GIRLS (TBG) ” in TV Tokyo last year .

Nana: Through the program, I was able to exposed myself to more culture differences, learnt more about fashions especially in Japan and my perspective towards Japan has changed a lot because I came close in contacts with the Japanese. I was particularly surprised to learn about the term beauty…some of the things that you never imagine / had any idea of just came out of no where.  Comments of surprise , ” I saw for the first time! ” And the ” I've never seen this!” often came from the program (laughs ) …………………………………………………………………………………………

You've made frequent appearance on Japan's fashion magazines. How do you feel during the shooting ?

Nana : Everyone were so nice including the make-up stylists, photographer and the staff. Although I meet them for the first time, they treat me really nice and makes me like I have met them before. I don't have to wait long for photoshooting and I think that's amazing. …………………………………………………………………………………………

Did you ever feel anxious?

Nana: Since there was a big difference of atmosphere for the make-up in Japan and South Korea, it caused a confusion at first.There was also a moment which I think I'm well presented in Korea and wanted to show the same image in Japan, I realized it was different. But after mixing with the people from various modeling fields such as TBG, in 1 year duration, I have the opportunity to learn new things. I've gotten use to the cuter image and my sense of beauty also changed significantly, I think. …………………………………………………………………………………………

Have there been any changes in terms of fashion?

Nana : I have to challenge myself actively because of the wide varieties of clothing. I wear something simple. But in Japan, fashion is a big part of a person as it reflects the identity of an individual. So I wear something that suits and I think is right for me. …………………………………………………………………………………………

In future, if you work as a model in Japan, please share to us if you have any specific goals.

Nana:It's really nice if you can walk on a big event in the future and be loved by just anyone regardless their gender and age.Help spreading and exposed make-up fashion of various genres.

    Q.How do you select your clothes?

Nana: It is important to look good on me. I try not to buy them if clothes don't suit my style or taste even clothes itself are cute.  

Q.What items do you think it suits you?

Nana: All of them (laugh) I like to wear manish style rather than feminine. I often wear big t-shirts and simple shirts. I recently bought decorative collar knit dress in Korea. I like plaid pattern for this autumn.

  Q.What's your favourite men's fashion style?

Nana: I like guys wearing a jacket with casual jeans and wear trainers (sneakers) I want them to wear some coloured or patterned jacket like plaid rather than black. I want them to express their own colours.  

Q.Would you change your fashion style to your boyfriend's liking?

Nana: I can do that but there would be no me in it (laugh) I will change it to "Nana style" even if I wear what he likes.  

Q.What's your ideal man?

Nana: Anyone who likes me (laugh) I don't really care the appearance! Sure, I would be interested if he looked good but our personalities have to match!

  Q.How about a guy who takes the lead (in dating-wise)?

Nana: I should take the lead and I think that would make me happier. My mother taught me so when I was a child.

  Q.Have you ever fell in love at first sight?

Nana: Once in my life (laugh) keep it secret please♪

  Q.Would you confess your love to someone from you?

Nana: It depends on the person but I'm not an aggressive type of girl. Ah, I once did. To someone I fell in love at first sight. (laugh)

Q.What's your impression of Japanese men?

Nana: There are many fashionable guys. They are gentle and really sweet. I don't mind marrying someone from another country. His age doesn't matter. It's ok if he's 50 if there's a love!

  Q.At what age do you think you would get married?

Nana: I don't really think about what age. When I feel like "I want to marry this person, I need to be married" then that's when. I believe in destiny. I love kids and I'd like to have them in the future.

  Q.If you go on a date with Japanese guy, where would you like to go?

Nana: To casual places would be nice. I want to walk around the town without worrying if people are looking at me and eat yummy foods. We can't really do this much.  

Q.How do you maintain your beautiful figure?

Nana: I go to gym and work out with a trainer. I've heard it is not so good to get a massage often. So only when I have sore muscles from exercising very hard, I get a Thai massage instead of doing streches. I don't do anything at home. Just sleep well, eat well and have a bath.

  Q.Do you have a healthy diet?

Nana: I eat anything I want to eat. (laugh) I love variety meats (organs, guts etc...) especially. I eat lots of Okonomiyaki (vegetable pancakes) when I come to Japan. I don't go on a diet but I try to not to eat before I go to sleep.  

Q.What do you do to de-stressed?

Nana: I talk to with my friends. It is often about my album concepts or something related to my work.  

Q.This year ends in 3months, is there anything you want to do by this year?

Nana: I want to make another comeback as Afterschool and Orange Caramel in Korea. I'd like to visit Japan with my dog and my family in private. There are many places that I always go like restaurants, shopping malls, hot springs and I want to take them there too!  

Q.To conclude this interview, can you tell your secrets to achieve dream to the girls who wants to be a model or singer?

Nana: First of all, work on self management really well and keep great figure. For a model, fashion acknowledge is required so study fashion hard. The most important thing is not to give up your dream. Have a vision for what kind of singer do you want to be and don't be lazy on practice.
