Based off the mood boards, what do you assume about my ocs for my book? This is just for fun, don't worry about getting this accurate or anything. I just wanted an excuse to make these and procrasinate from writing the book. Each picture gives a hint of either their appearance, species, personality, interests or backstory. They're all in a friend group btw!
I really need a good, approximatley 5 book long (or more) book series to just get completley obsessed and fixated on over the summer. I've unkowingly started a tradition for myself two years ago where I read a book series over the summer holidays. 3 years ago it was A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, 2 years ago was Percy Jackson and the Olympians (it literally changed my life), last year was Shatter Me series (I was blessed with Kenji and Nazeera). I still haven't recovered from Percy Jackson and the Olympians, I'm so attached to that series it's unhealthy. I LOVE fantasy books and would love to read a really good series with magic, found family, high fantasy. I don't really want the overused booktok tropes or plotline, in fact I HATE them. The book series can be popular or super niche, I just need to enjoy it. I'm open to series in other genres, especially mystery. No one better DARE recommend me powerless.

Smoke screamed upwards, a towering pillar of opaque fog swallowed Monokii, leaving his silhouette to flicker in the cursed smog. For 3 heartbeats, the centre stage was nothing but a wall of great fog, twisting and curling at every edge. Time tortured Levi as little by little the fog ran away-taking Monokii along. The show had begun.
The blood pounded in his ears, raced through his veins. His hands were shaking and fear began to choke him. Suddenly, it was like he was trapped within his own skin. He could feel his heart hitting against his ribcage, the blood gushing through the inside of his veins, Levi could feel his eyeballs shifting and turning within his eye sockets. Screaming thoughts pulsed through his mind, blurring into a mess of loud yells and panic. Pushing through the blur, Levi launched himself on a memory of strawberry-kissed perfume and a familiar soft, high-pitched voice.Ā Ā
āThatās it, focus on me, mkay? Donāt think about anything else, concentrate on me, darling.
Youāre safe with me.ā
Levi had never noticed this about him before, but his brother had hazel eyes. Twin pools of honey, with specks of gold that kissed his irises. Glittery eyeshadow sprinkled his eyelids, meeting soft winged eyeliner. Asmo really was beautiful, no wonder he took so much pride in his appearance. Slowly, the knot in the pit of his stomach began to untangle. Slowly.
āBreathe in, youāre doing a great job Levi. Hold to 7, breathe out.āĀ
The loud pounding in his ears had subsided, replaced by Asmoās soothing voice. The numbing in his fingers began to melt as the touch of Asmoās familiar luscious skin met with Leviās hands. Asmoās brows were still furrowed, worried lines in between. He would complain about them later, but never blame Levi for them. Levi knew what he was thinking, it was still lingering in Leviās mind. He wasnāt sure how long it would linger for.
Who knew fear could find him within something he loved.Ā
Anistreet took place in Moryo Town whose residents held anime conventions every semester. Demons, witches and now humans are involved every semester. Cosplay contests, artist alley, games, attending fan-led panels. Each year, a voice actor from a popular anime is chosen to be featured in Anistreet. What Levi loved most though, was how local it was. Every semester, he saw the same people, the familiar faces that he had gently warmed up to. Once in a while, a few newers would join and gradually also become known. It wasnāt very popular, but it wasnāt unknown either. It was a community. As someone who wasnāt very social, Levi had often found it hard to socialize and form connections with people who werenāt behind a bright screen. It took long for him to become comfortable with people, for him to not fear judgement of others and to not also quickly form judgements about them.Ā
However, as time grew- the demons did as well. Streets flooded with more snarls, more shouts, more heat. The glass in his stomach would crack into greater frightened pieces until there were hundreds of shards piercing into his insides. His heart was a hammer, smashing those pieces into fragile shards. Fear surrounded him like the vast entity of darkness surrounds stars, only growing more intense. Around the corners of his eyes, the shapes blurred into hazy colours; a sensation like a repetitive carousel which only grew faster. (A/N: IM SORRY WTF IS THIS TS IS AWFUL THIS FLASHBACK MAKES NO SENSE)Ā
Levi knew there was nothing he could do to stop this. Levi knew that no matter how much he ran, the crowd would always find him. It was who you ran to, that really decides your fate.
And it was Asmo he ran to, Asmo who enveloped him to hide him from the crowd. Leviās little brother who cancelled his modelling gig, which he styled as Hatsune Miku, and took him home to save him. It was Asmo, Levi will always be grateful for.Ā
Dread twisted within Leviās gut, he pained to hear silence. He realised they had all formed a circle of some sort, facing the centre to where Monokii was.Ā

Looking up, his gaze only met the mockery of the glimmering fairy lights- twinkling like stars lost to the roof of the tent like nothing was not amiss.Ā
āA big, happy homicidal family, huh?āĀ
Leviās eyes followed his ears to Mephisto as he spoke. Furrowed eyebrows, slight frown, hardened expression- he didnāt seem so cocky now.Ā
āThis may be some form of trap in use to sabotage the exchange program!ā Mephisto spoke with an air of determination but Levi thought his quivering hand suggested otherwise. He turned to look at Diavolo and all of a sudden Mephisto had knelt down on one knee, a gloved hand on his chest, another on his cane.Ā

āFear not My Prince, I will do everything in my power to bring no harm to you. With all my fire, blood and anguish, I am determined to protect you from all that lies further ahead!ā The pretty words left Mephistoās mouth in a rush. Thirteen and Solomon looked at each other, Satan scoffed and Barbatos said nothing. A look of affection brushed against Diavoloās expression, his eyes slightly widening and lips slightly parted. Curling up, the corners of his mouth faltered the journey of meeting his eyes.Ā
āThank you, Mephisto. You have been one of my most trusted companions since the beginning and I am grateful to have you with me by my side,ā graced Diavolo, he turned to face everyone, āAs your prince, I promise you all that no blood will shed from you guys, my friends. I love you all.āĀ
Levi couldnāt help but notice Diavoloās gaze fluttering on to two figures in the group, Lucifer and MC.Ā

Levi had always thought Jealousy was like a whirlpool, it sucked you down into a pit that constantly surrounded you with mocking thoughts. Submerged under the water, your vision is distorted as you gaze through a foggy, disturbing lens. Whipping and lashing at you, youāre forced to act without thinking- on desperate impulse- until you are pulled in again. Stuck in a maniacal cycle.Ā
āHey! Wait a minute, didnāt It say our only threat is each other?" shot Levi, āI think you need to stop provoking fear so that someone doesnāt act on it with impulse! We should look for more information before we decide what we should do first.ā
Everyone went silent.Ā
Something familiar brewed in Leviās chest, it growled and scratched inside him.
āThey all looked stupid.ā Levi thought, āWith their mouths wide open..except for Henry.ā
Out of the corner of his eye, he couldnāt make out Diavoloās expression. He didnāt look.Ā
āGood idea, Levi.ā A husky voice spoke, Solomon, āEveryone letās go outside, Monokii said that there were trailers we would be staying in. Perhaps thereās some clues there.ā
Some hummed in agreement, others nodded as they all began to walk to the entrance. Lingering behind, Levi could hear two distinct voices murmuring behind him. Keeping his head low, Levi couldnāt help but overhear. I mean it wasnāt eavesdroppingā¦the words just followed into his ears.
āWhatās wrong..?ā Simeon asked, his voice was gentle.Ā
āNothing that involves you.ā retorted Thirteen, Levi pictured her wrapping her arms around her torso uncomfortably, her head gazing away at some far away angle
āIāll ask you again, what is wrong?ā Simeonās voice was firm but still gentle. It took every ounce of Levi not to freeze in shock.Ā
He could feel the way his words floated over Thirteen, lingering around her- intoxicating her. The power of an angelās voice was intense but not something the wielder couldnāt control. Even if magic was forbidden, this wasnāt the case. An angelās voice is entwined within their soul.Ā
From a young age, you are taught how to manage this power with lots of training. Itās vow to never use this in any of the three worlds- you are never to allow your power to corrupt you. You have been made in Fatherās eye. You are perfect.Ā

āMy sister was gagged, she was tied up and her hair was being pulled by someone. I couldnāt see who. Sheās hurt because of me. Simeon, she was crying. I have never seen my sister cry before.ā whispered Thirteen, small hiccups and gasps of air could be heard behind Levi, whoās mind went silent.

Leviās heart dropped, his mind roared with sirens. His breath hitched violently in his throat, leaving his lungs burning as if he had just surfaced from freezing water.Ā

With that, no other words were exchanged.Ā
The reality of the situation began to dawn over Levi. This was dangerous. It wasnāt some cruel, twisted joke. People were going to get hurt. Monokii wasnāt acting, he was telling the truth. People were going to die.

my elegant flowerā¦ā Dazai breathily muttered into your ear, his right hand traveling down your body to secure itself onto your waist. The other lightly sliding down your arm until it met with yours, your hands mending together almost perfectly.
He began taking slow, steady steps with you in his firm, yet ever so delicate, arms. You hated the way he made you feel; and the heat rising to your cheeks didnāt make it any better.
The way his hands held onto you like nothing else in the world mattered made you sick. Like he was so deeply in love with you, that he never, ever wanted to let you go.
And this this hell felt like heaven for him.
So much like heaven, that heās made you forget how and why youāre even in this concerning situation.
You and Dazai danced together as if you both were lovers, destined to always find each other in whatever universe God puts you in.
But it was quite the opposite.
Take where you are for example, atop the roof of an abandoned 5 story building at the dead of night.
Why are you even here, you ask? Well letās go back to the beginning.
You and Dazai are coworkers at the Armed Detective Agency (ADA), and have been for the past few years. And because of that, youāre practically around the man 24/7.
But whatās so wrong with Dazai? Well, not only is he extremely irritating and obsessed with suicide, but itās so painfully obvious that heās obsessed with you as well!!
Heās overwhelmingly clingy and flirtatious, not to mention his constant attempts at suicide and begging for you to join him in a double suicide drive you mad. He can also be a tad bit controlling and manipulative when it comes to spending time with others.
āOh, bellaā¦ā Dazai sang as he kneeled in front of you while you sat in your desk chair, his hands keeping a firm grip on yours. āā¦I can just imagine how beautiful your hands would look around my neck, finally granting me the sweet gift of death I crave so mucāā
ā-Quit flirting with L/n, Dazai! Get back to work!!ā Kunikida shouted at the suicidal brunet before dragging him away from you by his shirt collar.
You sighed at the scene before you, quickly turning back towards your desk and returning to your job. But your peace and quiet didnāt last very long until you were assigned the job to check out an old, abandoned, warehouse that is suspected to be the hideout for an unknown organization kidnapping certain people around the area of Yokohama.
Of course, you agree to the job and the partner assigned to youā¦ but you declined the last part. You insisted that you did not need anyoneās assistance in this job, mainly because you didnāt want a certain bandage-waster recommending himself as the perfect candidate for the position.
You left the ADA building, ready to save the captives and go home and sleep. But someone had ulterior motivesā¦
Once arriving at the warehouse, you pulled out your gun and hid in a blind spot from anyone inside the abandoned building.
Your eyes scanned the perimeter and the entrance itās self andā¦ āIs no one in there?ā You quietly muttered to yourself; there was absolutely no sign of life anywhere.
What the fuck? You thought.
You were about to walk over there before you were stopped by your gun being snatched right out of your grasp.
āI doubt youāll be needing that, bella.ā
Gasping in shock, you spun around on your heel, meeting eyes withā¦ him. āWhaā¦ what are you doing here, Dazai!?ā

You angrily glared at him but he seemed to not care. Itās almost like he loves getting a reaction out of people, especially you.
āI thought I told you I liked working aloneā¦ā what made you trail off of your sentence short was Dazai reaching for your hand and gently holding it in his.
He didnāt dare to break eye contact as he kissed your knuckles. You grimaced at the feeling, cursing yourself for not snatching your hand away and shoving him away from you.
āI could be trying out a new method of suicide right now, but I decided to spend my time with you.ā He added with a small pout.
You rolled your eyes at him, āWow, how selflessā¦! Now leave, Iām trying to do my job here!! Now give me my gun back!!!ā
You jumped to reach the black weapon but he held it over your head, āAh, ah, ah! I told you that you wonāt need this, havenāt I, my dear belladonna?ā
You tightly pressed your lips together, already knowing that Dazai wonāt give in that easily. Shit, he probably wonāt even give in at all!
āYou know, I might reconsider that offer of strangling you to death right about nowā¦ā you muttered under your breath.
āOh really?ā He leaned over towards you a bit, you didnāt exactly expect him to hear you. āSorry, but I prefer my deaths to be painless and knowing you, that probably wonāt happen.ā
Sighing, you reached out your open hand in front of him, āMy gun.ā
āWell thatās not a complete sentence now is it, Belladonna?ā Laughing softly to himself Dazai, sat up straight. āIām getting sick of this back and forth banter, letās just go inside the place already.ā
Dazai threw his hands back, the gun flying back even further. You watched in horror as it disappeared into the overgrown vegetation.

The bandaged brunet grabbed onto your wrist and forced you into the warehouse.
The second you both ran through the door, you pried your wrist off of his hand, āWhat the hellās wrong with you, Osamu!? There couldāve been a bunch of armed men in here trying to kill us!!ā
āBut there wasnāt.ā He stated bluntly, not even wanting to touch on the fact that you have just referred to him as āOsamu.ā
Seething, you tore your gaze away from him and looked around the empty space around you. No oneās here either.
āYouāre right. Thereā¦ isnātā¦ā You looked around for a good 5 seconds before a loud gasp echoed through the room.
āWhat? Youā¦ you lied about the- the everything didnāt you!? The kidnappers andāā
ā-I didnāt lie, okay.ā He raises his hands up In defense. āAll I did was tell you the wrong address, the kidnappers are somewhere on the other side of Yokohama but who cares!!ā He laughed uncaringly at the situation.
āYou cannot be fucking for real right nowā¦ā you rubbed your temple at the mere thought of this. It was absolutely unbelievable.
You and everyone at the ADA might know this already, but itās becoming more and more evident as the days go by: Dazai is fucking insane.
āCome on, Y/n!! Donāt tell me youāre scared of heights!!ā You mustāve zoned out for a moment because now Dazai is climbing the stairs up to the next floor as he urges you on to follow him.
Already mentally drained, you wanted to turn around and go home, but something about this intrigued you so you went along with it.
That was your first mistake.
This went on for another twenty or so minutes until you both have reached the roof. Quite frankly, you were tired and out of breath. Panting as if you had just ran a fucking marathon.
āYou made it!ā He claps his hands together, āBarelyā¦ā he adds on under his breath, loud enough for you to hear.
āWhyā¦ did you bring me hereā¦?ā You said as you finally got a hold of your breath, noticing that it is already dark outside. The only light source being the bright, half-moon in the sky.
āBring you hereā¦?ā Dazai slowly stepped closer to you, chuckling darkly to himself, āWhat do you mean? You followed me all by yourself. You couldāve turned around and went home whenever you wanted.ā As if heād even let you do that in the first place.
āUh- wellā¦ā you stuttered, āWhatever.ā Crossing your arms you, turned away from him.
The bandaged brunet stepped closer to you, āCāmon, bellaā¦ā He whined, shoving his hands into his pockets; a strange smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
āWhatās the matter? Are you mad because I lied to you?ā He teased you in a mock baby voice, desperately trying to get a reaction out of you.
You turned around, ready to give him a piece of your mind, but his brown eyes looking right through your soul silenced you. There was a look on his face that you couldnāt make out. Was he frustrated? Maybe amused?
Whatever it was, you didnāt want any parts of it.
āI donāt even know why I followed you up here. Iām leaving.ā You swiftly turned around again, and began walking away. But a firm grip on your forearm stopped you right in your tracks.
āHey, what are you-ā
He didnāt respond. He only yanked you into his arms. His, that you wonāt admit, warm and loving arms. His arm was tightly around your waist while the other gently rested on top of your head.
āDazai,ā you paused, horribly frustrated with yourself for finding somewhat enjoying his embrace, āwhat are you doing?ā
āY/n, you know how I just love the idea of committing a double suicide with the beautiful lady I fall in love with?ā He whispered to you, his arms securely around your waist.
āUhm, yeah? I guess? What does any of this have to do withā¦?ā
āI have another question,ā he continued, āYou do know Iām in love with you, right?ā

Suddenly, Dazai released you from his embrace, you wouldāve lost balance if he didnāt secure his grip on your waist.
āOh, my elegant flowerā¦!ā he breathily whispered into your ear as his hand firmly grasped onto yours. You looked into his brown eyes that sparkled like stars in the beautiful moonlight. You hated the way he looked at you. You just hated absolutely everything about him. Why did he of all people have to fall in love with you?
At this point, you have no idea what the fuck is going on. Feeling weird by not doing anything with your free hand, you awkwardly placed your free hand on his shoulder.
Youāve never slow danced with a man before, but this what they do on movies, right? This is good enough.
He began taking slow, steady steps with you in his firm yet ever so delicate arms. You couldn't help but divert your gaze away from him whilst your face flushed a soft red color. Why am I blushing like crazy right now? Why wonāt it stop!?
āDid you not hear me?ā He continued the previous conversation, momentarily stopping his movements, āI said that Iām in love with you.ā
āYouāreā¦ inā¦ in love?ā You felt so stupid at this moment. Has it not been obvious since the beginning? He constantly compliments you on a daily. Heās even expressed his interest in committing a double suicide with his lover, and you just happen to be the person he bothers with the question the most. Iād have to be stupid to never realize it, shit.
āNo, thatās not trueā¦ā his grip around your waist now becoming hellishly tight. A gasp escaped your lips but it was quickly overrun by his words, āIām obsessed with you. Why else would I lie about your current mission? I just needed this alone time with you. Thereās something really important I needed to tell you.ā
āI- are you crazy!?ā You shrieked, your last pieces of sympathy for him instantly shattering into oblivion.
āOnly crazy for you, my beautiful flower.ā

Before you could get a word out, Dazai pressed his soft lips against yours. The kiss was only a few seconds, but for you, it felt like an eternity.
Once he finally pulled away, you caught your breath. In a melodramatic manner, nonetheless.
An amused smirk tugged at the corners of his lips as he stared straight into your eyes, āI doubt it was that bad, Y/n.ā He chuckled softly.
āYou canāt hate me that much, my dear bella.ā
You didnāt respond to him, only diverting your gaze away from him. āI do, I really doā¦ā
He laughed quietly before beginning to take a few steps with you. You became more and more embarrassed each time you slipped up and stepped on his feet but still not feeling obligated to mutter a quiet apology.
But then, there was a sudden stop. You could feel Dazaiās heart pounding faster than usual. He redirected his gaze and bit his lip nervously before looking straight at you.
He placed a soft kiss against your forehead, and muttered a quiet declaration of love before hugging you tightly. Embracing you with all of his might.
And leaning forward. At first, you thought that he was passed out or something and that you both were stumbling to the ground, but that wasnāt the case. It was quite the opposite, as a matter of fact.
Now it all makes sense. Why he stopped dancing; Because you were on the edge of the roof, perhaps?
Why he grabbed onto you; So you wouldnāt fight against him, maybe?
His decoration of loveā¦ he was going to kill himself.
And bring you along with him.
Tears ran down your face as sobs ripped through your throat. You couldnāt believe it, despite how surprising that sounds. It just feels like some kind of act of betrayal to you, even if he is dying as well.
The moment before you and Osamu hit the rock-hard pavement, he let go of you and muttered a phrase you may never forget, even in the afterlife:

After a scruffy, ginger cat ate your spare key, your brushed it off and went grocery shopping, picking out certain supplies, checking the prices going to checkout. Finally, as the lady at the till scanned your items- the realization finally hit and soon, worry began to swirl in your stomach. You only had one key left and what if you lose that too?
The last item was scanned, a pack of gumigoos. You sighed as you paid for your grocery.
BEEP!
You were about to to thank the lady when you were cut off.
"Behind you, key cutting machine, buy 2 get 1 free." she spoke in a hushed tone, her distant, lime eyes shifting side to side.
You blinked, turning around to the machine. It was as tall as a vending machine and was painted crimson. Small, electric-blue lumps of dust gathered around the sides of it. Every other customer walked past it, as if it was nothing. Would you take a look at that! A problem to your solution- or is it the other way round?
What is the worst that could happen?
10 minutes had past, and yet you were STILL standing in front of the key cutting machine- clutching your grocery bag nervously. By this point, the handles were beginning to mark indentations in your fingers but you REALLY needed that key.
More and more of the blue dust particles were beginning to gather at the sides of the machine. You were starting to get suspicious. You looked around for the tall lady with the lime eyes who was at the till but she was no where to be seen.
Coughing up more dust, you finally got annoyed. Have you just gotten scammed? And what's with all this dust-
BRRR...BEEP!
Out the slot, it coughed out 1 key. Finally. All those wasted seconds for 1 singular key. What a scam! Something in your heart reminded of you a certain cream-haired demon. You heart ached, his missing presence dug a hole in your life.
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
1 key was spat out, then another and another and another...
Innocently, 7 keys sat in front of you.
...Are you serious right now? So THIS was why the cursed thing took so long. What were you going to do? A lightbulb turned on.

Lucifer, at the middle of the night who quietly unlocks the door at the dead of night. He places his shoes next to yours in the rack, hangs up his coat neatly. As if it were his own home, Lucifer walks straight up to your bathroom- changing into his pyjamas and placing them next to yours in the dresser in your bedroom. Then, he carefully pulls the covers upon him as he spoons you. Even in your dreams, his touch is familiar, with his strong arms around you- guarding you from any nightmares. If you do wake up, his hands calm down your alarm. You can feel the belonging whilst he threads his slender fingers in yours.
"No need to worry, it's me. You're safe in my arms."
It's as if you never left the devildom. One day, you would be chilling at home and then...BANG!
Honestly, what was the point of giving your greedy crow a key if he doesn't even use it? Mammon just kicks the door the down, barging in to find his human. At any given moment, when he's away from others, he will sneak into the human world and find you and every. Single. TIME. He breaks the door down- the amount of times you've gotten it replaced...your door to the room in the house of lamentation may have a rival. Can you blame him though? He misses you MC! And that's not his fault! Always, he WILL envelope you in a teddy bear hug and WILL kiss you.

Imagine Calypso (the girl) is Mammon
Then, Mammon will drag you to the nearest curiosity he saw on the way here. Whether it's a carnival, casino, restaurant- he doesn't care. Mammon just wants to be with his human in their natural territory. When you guys are caught by Lucifer, you always manage to convince him to join you two so it becomes a poly date! In their minds telepathically, they will be communicating about how much they love you. Lucifer always spoils both of you. When he kisses you show or shows you any sort of affection in front of Mammon, Mammon always huffs and snatches you back and does the same thing as Lucifer but with ten times more affection. It becomes a little competition between them.
On the more calmer days, when Mammon's actually given permisson, he throws of his shoes and clothes until he's in a t shirt and sweatpants and he cuddles with you. He asks for a show reccomendation that you can watch together just so he can see you get so passionate about it. And yes, he listens. To every single word you say. He just loves you so much and will actually watch the show with you until he gets tired and falls asleep- his head in the crook of your neck on your shoulder and his leg over yours.
While you look for a show to watch, Mammon tries to make any packet noodles you have in your kitchen. He asks you questions about unknown human appliances. Definetley has burnt himself using a kettle before.
"Hey, human. What's in this metal jug- OW!"
Nervously, Levi would knock at your door and jump when you greet him. His eyes, hopeful with a hint of relief, and his heart hammering in his chest. When you ask him why he didn't just use the key, he blushes-the tips of his ears going red- and murmurs something about you might not being home or not wanting to intrude. When you tell him he is welcome anytime, he says nothing. Only, hugs you, burying his head in your hair. When he sees the inside of your home, Levi gasps- his eyes are literally twinkling. Everything is so MCCore! Your whole personality withing these walls, your safe space. Levi is grateful that you trust him to be here. Levi is very clean, he always puts something back in its exact place after examaning it, using or marking it with his scent. That's another thing, he loves marking stuff with his scent- possesive much? He does it so unsubltly too.
"Levi whatcha doin...?"
He is laying face down on the sofa, "N- Nothing.."
Satan, who you just find in your room randomly reading a book from your collection. He smiles, heart-warming and welcoming and gestures for you to curl into his lap as he reads to you.
"Nothing," Grover said, trying to keep a straight face. "I could use some dam french fries."
Even Thalia smiled at that. "And I need to use the dam restroom."
With every book he enjoyed (like the one above), he would smile and make note of it so he could add it to his collection in the devildom. If there was another book of series uncompleted in your collection, he would subtly drop hints for you to buy it.
If you let him, Satan would clean the house for you, prepare a warm meal and your pyjamas after a long day of school/work. He would greet you with a kiss and would gently rub your shoulders and massage your back.

Lucifer's Distraction
You two despise each other wholeheartedly. Everyone knows it from the freshmen to the professors to the birds relaxing by the window. Of course, nobody understand the hatred between you two like, well, you two.
Of course, neither of you would never admit it outloud... or well, even to yourselves. No, no, you both just had academic differences, that's all! Nothing more, nothing less (denial ain't just a river in Egypt)
Everytime Lucifer thought he was there on top, doing the best on an exam or project, you were right there to remind him that he wasn't truly the best, and vis versa.
Finally, you both had had enough. What started as little, annoying pranks to make each other late for class quickly escalated to so much more. At one point, you had even broken a bone from one of his little schemes that included moving a wet floor sign and you slipping. Maybe he went a little fair with that one, but he wasn't sorry. Still, you got back up. Seems Lucifer would have to step up his game. And that's he did.
One night, he laid tossing and turning in bed, unable to rest easy, you there, plauging his mind. Your annoying voice piping up before his, your handwriting on your projects that always seemed to out do his-- ugh, it was beyond annoying. What could he do to get rid of you once and for all? Something to finally top you? Something that would finally make you just drop your--
And then it hit him. Just like that, at the snap of his fingers. What if he seduced you? Know thy enemy, and all that. He almost shot up right then and there. It was wrong, so very wrong, he knew that. But it was too good to pass up.
And so, the next day, after school, some studying for an upcoming exam, and a quick chat on the phone with Asmodeus, here he was, outside of your dorm, late at night, red roses in hand, with a little apology note-- which he meant nothing that it said-- attached to it. He gave the door a light knock, quickly sitting down the flowers and the note before scurrying off, trying to get around the corner before you walked out, if you did. It was late, so he wouldn't be shocked if you were asleep.
Well, as luck would have it, you decided to order a pizza a half hour earlier, and your delivery turns out to have arrived around the same time as Lucifer tried to turn the corner, and well... he crashed into your delivery man, ruining your pizza and his nice new, white shirt with pizza sauce. Karma's a bitch, ain't it?
And you? You opened your door just in time to witness the entire thing. Man, were you confused. Your rival and pizza man bumping into each other. Huh. You were confused, definitely, but more so disappointed your pizza was ruined. Though it did make you grin to see the disgusted look on Lucifer's face as the pizza sauce stained his shirt as the delivery man apoglized profusely.
Only then did you notice the roses and the note. Obviously, you weren't quite as focused on them at the moment, considering your dinner had just been ruined by your totally-not-rival. Hesitantly, you called out to the raventte, catching his attention. "You alright?"
"No." He replied stiffly, sending a glare towards the poor pizza man, who began to apologize to you, mentioning something along the lines of a free pizza next time you ordered. You were hopeful about that, thinking you could just order another, possibly get some extra toppings you like and all that... and then he said their kitchens were closed for the night. You were the last order. Shit. So now your dinner was ruined, you had an empty stomach, and you had loads of studying to do. And on top of that, your rival is standing right here, likely revelling in your misery.
Wrong. He saw this as an opportunity. Sure, his shirt was ruined, but he could easily buy another, just like he was going to buy you dinner tonight.
After the pizza man had been dismissed, and it was just the two of you standing there (awkwardly), you both began to speak at the same time.
"Would you--?" "Would you--?" Pause. "...You go first." He hummed after a moment, arms crossed over his chest. "...Right." You sigh, already regretting speaking in the first place. "Would you like to borrow a shirt? A friend left a shirt here the other night. May fit you." It definitely wouldn't, at least not very well, but considering it was your pizza that ruined his shirt, you felt inclined to at least ask so he didn't have to walk back to his own dorm covered in pizza sauce. You'd just buy your friend a new shirt. He definitely wouldn't mind.
"I'd... actually appreciate that. Thank you." He moved to pick up the roses he had gotten for you. "May I come in? I guess I can give you these first hand now." Your eyes widened. Oh. So it was him who'd gotten them and not some crazy coincidence. They were... pretty, you'd give him that.
You don't say anything, moving to the side to allow him in. You mumble something along the lines of finding that shirt for him before walking towards your dresser, looking for it. "You wanted to ask me something, too."
He hums. "Yes, I did. Considering I messed up your dinner plans, would you like me to make up for it?" You shot around to look at him, a suspicious look in your eyes.
"Plan to break my wrist again?" "...That was an accident." He replies hesitantly. "Sure." You scoff, turning back to the dresser. "What do you think the roses are for? They're an apology." Okay, you had no response to that. "...Fine." You hesitantly agree to his previous question, knowing you needed to eat so you could focus on studying. You can practically feel his eyes in the back of your head, that annoying smirk on his face. "Dick..." You mumble beneath your breath. "What was that?" "...Nothing!"
You turn around to throw the shirt at him, which he skillfully catches. "Thank you." He hums, sitting it aside, moving to undo the buttons of his shirt. You, flushed red by how outwardly he started to do so, quickly spin around, covering your face. Andddd you feel that smirk again. Fucking annoying.
After he's changed, the two of you head out. This late at night, there's only a few restaurants opened. You two head to a local diner, ordering some food. You were a little weird about this all, you had to admit, suspicious as to why he's suddenly being so... well, nice.
You two didn't talk at all aside from ordering, and you stubbornly fighting with him about paying. Unfortunately, he was more stubborn, insisting he payed. You finally huffed, saying something along the lines of "your money, not mine" before going quiet, beginning to eat your food. You didn't say a damn thing to him, or even look at him. But, oh, he was looking at you. His eyes never moved. It was awkward-- no, intimidating as hell.
"Do you mind?" You finally scoffed, eyes meeting his charcoal ones for a brief moment, quickly looking away. "I don't. You're actually not that sore on the eyes." He backhandedly comments to you, earning another scoff. "Is that all you're good for? Scoffs?" He scoffs himself, taking a bite of his own food. Oh, you can feel your eye twitching in annoyance.
However, you take a deep breath, relaxing yourself. "No..." You reply calmly. "Hm." He simply hums, which you copy, earning a raised eyebrow from him. His eyes, however, finally fell from you to your plate, emptied in a matter of minutes. It reminds him of Beel, how quickly you ate that, and he smiles briefly.
"What?" You asked, confused by the small change in attitude. "Oh, nothing." He replies, and it's your turn to raise an eyebrow. He sighs, seeing that look. "How quickly you ate. It reminds me a bit of one of my brothers." He shrugs. "Are you still hungry?" Hesitantly, you nod. "Well, go ahead. Order more." He doesn't seem bothered. "Since you're offering..." You mumble, asking the server for another menu, deciding to get something different.
After that, things feel less tense. As you're waiting for your next plate of food, the two of you slowly began to talk a little. Nothing more than idle conversation, something to make things less awkward. And it was just that, less awkward. Surprisingly, the two of you had more in common than your prideful attitudes, and that quickly sparked another conversation, even as you acquired your food. You asked about his brother-- which turned out to be brothers-- and he began to speak of each of them.
It was strange, seeing how different he was when he spoke of each of them. Though he seemed to carry an easily annoyed older brother tone and expression as he discussed them, you could see pride-- a different pride than he usually carried-- behind his eyes as he spoke.
"Do you have any sisters?" You suddenly asked curiously, and his expression seemed to fall in that moment, sorrow flashing through his eyes momentarily. "Yes." He replied quietly and plainly, moving right on the with the subject, proceeding to ask you of your family instead. You didn't push the subject. You two may despise each other-- again, you wouldn't admit as to why-- but you knew when to drop something. You still did have some form of basic respect after all.
Eventually, this time came to an end, and your stomach was full, and you were happy, ready to spend some time studying. You wished you could've been studying as you ate-- hence why you ordered the pizza-- but you actually... nevermind.
After he'd walked you home, you thanked Lucifer, and he thanked you as well, promising to return the shirt. You bid each other goodnight, and then you closed the door. For you, it was a nice night. For him, it was a good first step in his plan.
Over the next week, the two of you continued your usual antics, working up ideas to make each other late to class. However, you noticed Lucifer's seemed rather... well, lackluster, to put it simply. You'd give the man this, when he wanted to, he could usually come up with something good that would easily make you late. As of recent, though, they just seemed... lazy. Hell, you two were even chatting in class some, copying each other's notes-- well, you more so than him. As much as you hated to admit it, you got a little worried, and almost missed his rather cruel distractions.
Little to your knowledge, this was part of his plan. Well, him being easier on you. Not you showing up to his door one night.
When he opened the door and saw you there, he could only offer a confused look at your concerned one. "Yes?" He asked, hair wet and matted to his forehead, his shirt only half buttoned up. It was enough to make your face go red, quickly tearing your eyes from his partially exposed chest.
You completely forgot what you were going to say. Brain.EXE has stopped working.
"MC." He hums, catching your attention again. "Uh... I was just checking on you." You blurted out, accidentally being more forward than you wanted. His eyes widened slightly. "Oh. Why is that?" "No reason." Now it was his turn to scoff. "No reason? You're saying you walked halfway across campus for no reason?" "...Yes."
There's a silence between the two of you. It's awkward. Really awkward. "So, uh... you look like you're getting ready for something." You finally speak, noticing the nice shirt. "No." He replies bluntly, your smile falling. "Oh..." You look down, feeling embarrassed. You hear a low chuckle from him, looking back up, eyebrows furrowed upon noticing the amused look on his face. This fucking liar... "You're such a dick." You scoff. "A dick you walked halfway across campus for." Your face burns red again, and you turn to leave, but he stops you, grabbing your wrist and turning you back towards him.
He doesn't say anything for a moment, just looking down at you, flush against his chest. "...Yes?" You finally ask, swallowing thickly. "Would you like to accompany me tonight?" He asked, calm as could be. You're quiet for a minute, just looking at him. "Where are you going?" He shrugs. "Dinner."
And so, you go to dinner. Thankfully, you'd been wearing something decent enough to go to the place he had selected. On the drive there, he tells you his brothers are going to be there. Apparently they have this meet up sort of deal every few months or so, considering they all don't have time to meet up together very often, all of them spread out different places.
Lucifer, of course, was at college, was heir to their estate, and an assistant to a CEO by the name of Diavolo. Mammon and Asmodeus were both away on modeling tours a lot. Leviathan was a famous gamer and voice actor who traveled to conventions a lot to meet fans. Satan was traveling the world and writing a book about all sorts of different cats, Beelzebub was a famous chef and owned a couple restaurant chains, traveling often to keep an eye on them, and Belphie often traveled with him.
You had to admit, you felt a little out of place at dinner, and for a bit there, the brothers definitely seemed a little confused. One asked if you were Lucifer's lover-- *cough* Asmo *cough*-- and when you were confirmed not to, immediately tried to ask you out.
Of course, Lucifer shut that notion down quick. A little too quick for you not to notice.
Aside from that little stunt from the fifth born, things were rather relaxed. Everyone just talked, and relaxed, and soon enough, you fit right in.
During dinner, when everyone was quieter and eating, you noticed Lucifer staring at you. He appeared perplexed. However, the second you noticed he looked away.
To you, you simply shrugged it off. To him... his nice, simple plan started to fall apart. Distract you. Distract you... no, you were distracting him. And strangely enough, he didn't mind.
Once dinner was over, you said goodbye to the brothers, and he took you back to the dorm, just like last week. He bid you farewell just like last time, and turned to leave, but it was your turn to stop him this time. "Yes--?" He began to speak, but was cut off as he felt your lips press to his cheek.
"Goodnight, Lucifer. I'll see you tomorrow, hopefully." You said with a gentle smile before closing the door, a soft blush on your face.
Lucifer could only stand there, staring at the door for a minute. Eventually, he brought his hand to his face, pressing it against where you kissed him. It was confirmed. His nice, simple plan had fallen apart. You were his distraction now.
