Freyr Esteban Lund

Freyr has always been a quiet and introverted person. He and Freya weren’t always close but grew closer as teens after Freyr transitioned.

He’s a healer and doesn’t like being in action, but he’s a decent shot and likes using handguns and rifles.

though his skin is a shade darker than his sister’s, his wild form makes his hair pure white.

He has a bit of a crush on Sekhmet and they are honestly so cute together I love them.

He likes logic, gardening, herbal teas, and waking up early.

He’s captain of the school robotics team and a part of the student committee that helps new kids get situated into life at New Haven, which is how he meets Hiro for the first time.

I’ve changed Naani’s name to Hiro, short for Takahiro. I know I haven’t been posting much here, but I’ve been doing a lot of work plotting and fixing potholes. I’m working on (yet another) draft of the prologue, which I might post here just so yall can get an actual taste of my writing style. Most recently I created another antagonist for the first book. I’ve drawn some character concepts for her and the demigods. Related to that, I may scrap keeping Freya and Freyr (the gods) as demigod and replace them with a new character im working on. Hiro’s character sheet is still in progress, but I’m close to finishing it, trust me. One last thing: the descendants of the dragon will henceforth be known as The Children of Good, for reasons I will allow you to speculate on your own.

So I’ve been on an art kick, and also recently obsessed with Alien Stage, so I decided to draw Sekhmet and Freya as Hyuna and Mizi from Alien Stage!!!

I just think the dynamic fits so well, personally. Anyway! I swear I’m not gonna disappear again, so follow along as I make this fantasy world a fictional reality!

Danny time!!!

Danny is The Hot One™ He technically doesn’t attend New Haven High anymore, but he helps coach the fencing team and is a TA for the PE teachers. They are one of the many children of the Prophet, and doesn’t really have any powers. (They later becomes the Prophet but that’s after their entire family dies lol) I’ll probably make a monster post about how the powers in this universe work later but rn we don’t have time for that so right now you get to be confused.

Danny was Freya’s partner in crime before he graduated. They felt suffocated by the expectations set on them by their family while at the same time felt ignored by their parents. They say they don’t care what their parents think about them but they really do just want to be loved and accepted by them. Their relationship with their parents is still complicated, but has gotten a bit better since they were in high school.

Danny is an amazing strategist and an even better fighter. He loves working out and does it often when he’s stressed or anxious. He’s not a sprinter but has good pace and can run for a long time.

Same controlling family, and I think I'll keep the "older sibling killed themself and now rules are strict." or maybe not. idk who knows. what I know for sure is that his eldest brother goes to help get Naani escape from Alecto and dies in the process (I'll post that chapter soon)

Anyway he's still friends with Freya but now they're in their prime prank-era. I'm still deciding whether I have him start dying his hair before or halfway through the first book. Anyway Freya introduces Naani and Danny, which isn't quite romantic but Naani has a gay crisis over the moment anyway, mostly because Danny is hot and popular and way out of his league.

Anyway that's the biggest changes I've made to his character.

Introducing: The staff of New Haven High School!

Last but certainly not least, Naani!!!

Naani was a very curious kid, and was always getting himself into trouble. He always had the best of intentions but it never seemed to work out in his favor. He tried hard to please his mother though, and she loved him dearly. He was only ten when his mother died and he was adopted by Alecto. (Yes that Alecto.)

Growing up under Alecto was stifling and isolating. His impulsive nature often got him into trouble with his new foster family, and was often physically abused for what he said or did. He was kept isolated in a small rural house, and his only friends were the manor staff. He used to befriend the maids and butlers, but Alecto always fired them after a few months.

After a few years of this, he learned how to become numb, to shove his emotions down to where no one could see them. When one of the manor staff proposes to help him escape he almost doesn’t go, but something urges him to. After he escapes the manor the staff member reveals themself to be a descendant and resident of New Haven.

Naani is scared at first, scared of his teachers, classmates, and his new foster family. He slowly grows to trust them, and learns how to open up again. He learns to love again, and starts to heal.

By the end of the story, he’s lost everything. He gave everything to his community and lost it all. There is no one left to save, but he never gives up. Until his last breath, he resists. He doesn’t give in. He dies by the villains hand, but made sure he would never forget it.

but his death is only the beginning of a new fight.

I should explain

SO. I think I mentioned earlier that Freya and Freyr's mom disappeared shortly before the stories start. She turns up at some point, probably before the first death (Freya) and it turns out that she barely escaped the car accident and transformed into her druid form while near-fatally injured. She was then found by some well-meaning mortal who took her to an animal shelter. She healed there and just when she was released she was captured by some agents of The Serpent. (which is also something I should explain at some point) ANYWHO. That's what you need to know! No, I don't have a name for Momma yet, but I DO know that their last name is Lund, so she's just Mrs. Lund for now.

I feel like so many problems people have with tv at the moment could be solved if we just went back to the good ole days of 20 episodes a season that’s just sixty percent filler and character development. Give the people what they want- less condensed story and more meaningless shenanigans

Sekhmet through the ages!

Sekhmet always had a wild imagination, and she loved hands-on learning experiences. Her father, a mortal scientist eagerly encouraged this and often did scientific experiments in their backyard with household objects and ingredients. Her mother would tell her stories of gods and heroes that she would listen to intently, and can still easily retell her favorites still.

When Sekhmet was about 10, her mother got diagnosed with cancer and died after two years of fighting against it. Just before she died she contacted her friends still located in New Haven and told her husband to move out there where they could be safe. Sekhmet went into deep depression after the loss of her mother, even going as far as cutting herself, and it took a lot of therapy and counseling for her to be happy with herself again.

By the time we meet Sekhmet, she’s a lot happier and healthier. Her father is a teacher at New Haven High School and she’s more confident in herself. She’s a Sophmore, so she should have her mage powers in full force but the spring equinox ritual failed to unlock her powers, so she has to retake the basic Mage classes again, which is how she meets Iza.

at the end of the story, Sekhmet is a powerful necromancer and mage. She is the last one to die, excepting our MC/narrator Iza, and becomes the goddess of the underworld after she is resurrected, but more on that later.

Freyr!!!

Freyr was a very quiet kid. Always eager to learn and always had his nose in a book. His birth name was Freya, though I’ll talk more about the name change later. Freyr was doted on and praised by his parents as a kid, something Freya and Freyr both loathed.

In middle school, Freyr discovered he was a guy and started wearing more masculine clothes but didn’t come out to his parents until much later. After the attack and his family moved, he was devastated and closed himself off from his mom, who was very traditional in her beliefs. This is also when Freyr started mending his relationship with his sister, which had been frayed before then.

Early on in high school he came out to Freya, who proposed the name swap. Freyr readily accepted and that is how Freyr and Freya got their names.

At the beginning of our story, Freyr is finally confident in his appearance and his body. He’s captain of the robotics team and co-head of the welcome committee. He’s shy, but confident and doesn’t take crap from anyone.

Freya!!

Freya has been and always will be a grade-A troublemaker. Her birth name was actually Vör, but she actually She had a LOT of energy as a kid. Not at all cautious. She loved spending time outside, which is good because she had quite the destructive nature when she was stuck indoors. Her parents loved her though and she grew up always supported by her family.

Just before middle school, her family lost her mortal father an Otherworld attack and moved to New Haven. Freya was super upset about the move and she was mad at her mom for moving their family far away from their first home in Oregon. Along with that, her new teachers expected her to be nice and amiable like her namesake, the goddess Vör. So when her brother approached her with a proposition, she readily accepted her brothers deadname as her own. Also in true troublemaker fashion, she started to dye and cut her hair. She met Dani… somehow I haven’t figured it out yet… and taught them how to dye their hair and pierce their ears.

By the beginning of the story, Freya and Dani have bonded over years of pranking, and are best friends. Also, we discover early on in the story that Freya and Freyr’s mom disappeared about a month before Iza even meets Freya and Freyr.

I initially had Freya be the first to die in the story, then come back and aid the main characters in a spirit form, but I’m considering using Freyr for that instead. However, now that I’m thinking about it, I should just stick with Freya being the first death. I need to make a master post with all the Deity info and plot shenanigans.

Atalanta through the ages!!!

At eight, Atalanta was dealing with the death of her parents and the loss of her dominant leg. When she first arrived in New Haven she lashed out constantly at her adoptive parents and had quite the temper. She was a handful and a half to say the least.

in middle school, Atalanta had chilled out a little bit. She bonded with her new family and learned how to vent out her frustration in sports. She still has some anger issues by this point, but she’s seeing a therapist and is getting better at managing her emotions.

By the beginning of our story, Atlanta has been seeing a therapist for a while. She’s confident in herself and her abilities. She acts as a protective older sister for all her younger siblings, and loves her adoptive family a lot. She’s also grappling with feelings for her best friend Freya so there’s that.

And the end? Hmmmm maybe I’ll talk about that more later.
