Everything is politics. When something is seen as “political” it simply means that it challenges the ruling system.
Like, if you discuss how unemployment numbers affect a nation’s economy, then that’s just economics, but if you discuss why the economy makes unemployment happen, that’s politics. If you talk about what you need to be a successful academic that’s career advice, but if you mention that the requirements are different for women, that’s politics.
100% of my political positions, which are considered radical by a lot of people (yet insufficiently so by others), come not from discussing politics as politics, but looking at the world and asking “why?”
“Why can my friend’s family not afford apple juice, while we never worry about food prices, and the kids in my class own every video game the day it comes out? Why, when I know all these families personally and know there is no great difference between them?”
“Why are some things for boys and some things for girls? Why can’t anyone even give me a good explanation of what a "boy” is in a way which encompasses everything about them?“
"Why are people unemployed when I can clearly see there is useful work to be done? And why do they not have enough food or houses when I see the supermarkets are always well-stocked and new houses lying empty?”
You can’t really answer those questions without politics, and the world sort of runs by assuming you won’t ask them, that your parents will teach you not to think about that sort of thing. And so in adulthood they are considered somewhat childish. People will wave you off like “I have better things to do than wonder about why the world is the way it is”, “don’t bring politics into this”, basically “didn’t your parents teach you to keep your head down?”
